Having cubs can be a big part of a character's life, whether or not they are planned! In order to reproduce, the parents must meet the requirements below before they will be permitted to post in Cub Requests.

Each character can conceive one litter per IC year for free. Additional passes can be purchased in the Shop.

• These passes are non-transferable and both parents require one when submitting.
• The free pass resets every IC January.

Each character can produce a maximum of 10 cubs per IC year. This is irrespective of their biological sex, the amount of litters they have, and so forth.

• Master Nursemaid Perk: Pride-mates receive a fertility boost (if both parents are in the nursemaid’s pride, their annual cub maximum is upped to 12).
• Their total available cub count resets every IC January.
• When the cub roll is performed will determine which year the cubs are added to.
• If the cub roll is done in Dec Y12, the cubs will count towards the Y12 limit (even though the cubs would be born in Y13).

Lions are capable of producing 'split litters'. This is when a lioness has a litter with multiple fathers (maximum of 2).

• Mating threads with both potential fathers must be started within 1 OOC week of each other to qualify and both must roll as successful.

There may be times when a BWP halts breeding entirely.

Incest will always result in a 1 cub litter.

• No additional cubs can be purchased via the Shop and trade/pride perks do not apply.
• These cubs will always be of a small build.
• We consider incest to be between blood-related family members including: parents to child, siblings, aunts/uncles, and first cousins.
• Keep in mind that incest is a Trigger Warning.

Age Requirements

This means they:

• Cannot have mates until they are 2 years old.
• Cannot reproduce and have cubs until they are 2 years old.

Characters can have cubs until death with a caveat:

• Lionessess' fertility decreases once they reach the age of 10. This does not affect lions.

Post Requirements

Before the cub request can be submitted, both parents must have a minimum of 50 IC posts.

• If either parent is returning from being inactive, they must make 25 new IC posts after rejoining, prior to the breeding thread.
• These 25 posts are in addition to the base requirement. So, if they have not reached 50 posts yet, they will need a total of 75 posts prior to the breeding thread.

Having more threads together before the cub request is submitted and being a member of a pride increases your odds of having larger litters.

• The breeding thread does not count towards the total thread count.
• For a thread to be eligible:
• It must not be older than 1 IC year.
• The parents must interact in it.
• Exits are needed in order to count towards the roll.

It is possible for characters to reproduce outside of Amaryllis, subject to the following guidelines and restrictions.

Lionesses cannot join pregnant, unless the cubs are going to be miscarried or stillborn.

• After being born off-site, the children of an inactive lioness may not return to Amaryllis until the mother has been inactive for at least 3 IC months.
• This accounts for the 2 IC months the lioness is pregnant for, and the 1 IC month required for the cub to become playable.
• The cubs can then join Amaryllis.
• You have to pay to bring them in as a Rogue Cub if they are under 6 months of age, and for the full price of their design.

Male characters can father off-site litters.

• Males must have been set as inactive at the same time as the lioness they are breeding with.
• Males are allowed to return to Amaryllis without any time restrictions.
• Cubs born off-site can have an NPC mother/father, as long as the on-site parent meets breeding requirements.

Breeding threads are used to determine whether your breeding attempt is successful or not. The roll is done by the players before the cub request can been submitted in the maintenance forum.

• Breeding threads can only be started after both characters have turned 2 years old.
• The lioness must be off their breeding cooldown (read more about these in the Pregnancy tab).
• The official breeding thread can be started before a character has reached 50 IC posts, but they need to reach this requirement before submitting the cub request.
• If returning from being inactive, however, you must make the additional 25 posts before the breeding thread.
• Breeding threads must be finished within 1 OOC month of the thread’s creation, and must be requested in Cub Request within 3 OOC days of being rolled as successful.
• There are no post requirements for breeding threads, aside from needing exits.
• All breeding threads must 'fade to black', and must not include any explicit content. 'Fade to black’ counts as an exit.

Breeding Roll

Members are in charge of conducting a roll in their breeding thread to see whether their attempt is successful or unsuccessful. This can be done by either character at the end of the breeding thread.

• Master Nursemaid Perk: Always ensure successful litters for you and your pride-mates (breeding attempts will never fail; both parents must be in the nursemaid’s pride).
• These rolls are dependent and change based on the IC season.
  • Whatever IC season it is at the time of the roll being conducted is what you must use for your breeding attempt.

If the breeding attempt is rolled as successful:

• You will then be able to submit a request in Cub Requests for your Litter Roll.
• You will use your successful breeding thread in the request for the "breeding thread" field.
• If you have less than 3 threads together, there is still a small chance that you may end up with 0 cubs, but you have the ability to re-roll once for free. More threads will always be better!

If the breeding attempt is rolled as unsuccessful:

• You will not be permitted to submit a request in Cub Requests for a litter roll.
• There is no cooldown, but if you would like to try again, you will need to make a new breeding thread and conduct another roll.

Lionesses remain pregnant for 1 OOC month

• An OOC due date will be given after the cub request has been rolled.
• After the due date is posted, the lioness is officially pregnant.

A lioness is unable to breed again until 6 IC months has passed since the birth of their last litter.

• Master Nursemaid Perk: Reduce the breeding cooldown of another character (or self) by 2 OOC months, once per 3 OOC months.
• If the lioness miscarries or all the cubs are killed/die before reaching 1 year of age, they can breed again within 5 OOC days.
• This cooldown does not apply to males. They may breed as many times as they want in a year, and with multiple lionesses, as long as they purchase a breeding pass.

If they fail to do this, the litter will be considered a miscarriage, unless the player is on a posted absence.

• Each cub in the litter needs to be mentioned/born in the thread.
• If the thread 'dies' before all of the cubs are born, they will be considered dead.
• If needed, after 10 days, the mother can double post in order to finish the birth.
• Players are allowed to have all of the cubs be born in the first post of the birth thread if they desire.

After you've received your litter roll, you have the option to adopt any/all of the cubs out to other players! If you’re interested in adopting out your cubs, you can find players privately or by posting a thread in the Adoptions forum to advertise the upcoming litter.

• Before posting a thread, decide if either of the parents’ players want to take a cub. If so, make sure to indicate which cub is taken in the adoption thread.
• Include the official cub roll and all other relevant information in the adoption thread, such as: their backgrounds, genetic markings, personalities, alignments, naming conventions, traditions, etc., to give potential adopters a better sense of what the cub’s life will look like.
• You can decide what is required for someone to submit a cub audition. Typically, parents ask for a name, personality, and appearance.
• Also be sure to add a date that you will choose the adopters by!

Cubs can be auditioned 2 OOC weeks after the birth thread is posted. Prior to that, they can be played as NPC characters by their parents, pride mates, and so forth.

Adoption Clauses

We recommend that you have an adoption clause in place to protect your cubs. An adoption clause allows the parents' players to readopt out the cub if the original player falls inactive. Cub clauses also can ask that players provide notice or ask for permission for plots that may be drastic (cub death, kidnapping, maims, etc).

You can decide how long the cub clause will be for your litter, but the site maximum is 1 year old. Once the cubs are yearlings, they can not be adopted back out without the original adopter’s permission.

Resetting a Cub for Readoption: Cubs born on-site can be partially reset up until 6 months of age.

• In other words, if you are readopting a cub that was born on-site, you can change their appearance and sex (within the parameters of their original cub roll) if they are under 6 months of age.
• Readoption after that point requires that the creation details of the character remain the same, and resetting is not possible.
• To do this, the current player or a parent player will need to set the cub account inactive and state who the new player is. After that, the new player can reaudition with the account.

Content Rights During Readoption: If a cub is up for readoption, the original player has the rights to the written profile content that was created by them, as well any art that they made or paid for for that character.

• Example: the personality, description, and so forth are the creative property of the person that wrote them.
• The original player can ask for their content to be removed or not used should they choose to.

Design Usage

• If the Sr Staff team or parents of the cubs do not believe enough changes were made, the audition will be rejected until the design is fixed.
• If you're unsure if you've changed it enough, we encourage you to work with the parents' players to reach a solution.
• If you make a design, show it publicly as an option, and don't apply for the cub, you will fall under these rules as well.
• If both parents do not care if the designs are used, they can note that in the adoption thread, otherwise, members should assume they are not able to reuse the design.
