Caligula didn't really expect much to come of this. Perhaps they would still take his daughter even if they wouldn't accept him. He couldn't really blame them if he was denied. He had gotten on up there in years and things no longer came as easily to him. He ached nearly all the time now and movements had grown stiff. But he still possessed his mind. That was the one thing that had yet to falter in his advanced age.

He had promised Cassi that they would try the Plains pride. Caligula knew nothing about whom ruled here or what their laws might be but if they could protect his youngest and give her a home then it couldn't be all bad. After all the only reason she refused to go to the mountain where there was family was because of him. His joints ached just moving upon flat ground that it was more likely than not that he would fall and break his neck on the attempt to climb the mountain. But if the Plains could house her for now then maybe she would move on to the Summit later.

The elder lion stopped a good distance from the border. He tried not to come across as winded as he felt when he sat down. Before his paws he placed down three baby hares that he had found left alone in the tall grasses. It had been luck that he had stumbled upon them. It wasn't some sort of grand meal but still he had managed to find something to bring with him.

She had been patrolling when the breeze brought his scent to her. Ghyslaine recognized the scent of @Caligula when she smelled it, yet she... hesitated for a moment- unsure about her own memories. She had last spoken with the male when he'd visited the plains during the strange weather and strange circumstances that seemed to plague the land, but she remembered him none-the-less. She moved along the border, until the gentle swell of the hill brought him into her sights- when she spied him, she would chuff softly in greeting as she made her way down to him. "Caligula. It's a pleasure to see you again." She'd breathe out, her greeting warm- her tone kind. "What can I do for you?" She asks, content to help him with whatever he may need or want.

The familiar face that greeted him was a pleasant surprise. Caligula hadn't known if she would still be around or not. There had been so many changes as of late and he hadn't been keeping on top of them all. He hadn't the energy to keep on top of them all. It felt almost overnight that he had become an old man.

"I brought these for you." The meager meal was nudged forwards. Anyone that knew Caligula knew that anywhere he went he always bore gifts. It was a sentiment that he attempted to instill within his own children as well. He had always tried to be a good father in install all of the proper values.

"I didn't know if you would still be here. I promised my daughter that I would look into the Pride. I think she is tired of life as a Rogue even if she won't admit to it. She refuses to just leave me behind and join a pride on her own. It was her suggestion to come here." He still had hope that the girl would join him for this visit as well, but it wasn't something that was mandatory. Just knowing there was a friendly face here was enough for him.

"The years have treated you well." As it had been quite awhile since he had last seen the woman.

Of the long list of personality traits both good and bad that Reti could claim to posses, Curiosity had always been near the top of the list. So while the call was not specifically for him, the faintly familiar tone to the voice was enough to draw the lion out for a look.

Surprise lit his eyes even at a short distance when his gaze rested upon the small and very familiar bronze lion. Someone well known from his youth. Someone with ties to his family. Close ones.

Reti surprised even himself by letting out a pleased 'chirp' sound of greeting before clearing his throat and giving a more 'dignified' chuff of greeting while striding over. A friendly nod is given to @Ghyslaine ♔ before a both focus and a slightly bright smile was given to the elder lion.

" @Caligula . I am very happy to see you looking well!" he was alive, and around. It was, a warming feeling, to see one familiar from his past. He hoped his joining in, at least briefly, would be welcome.

She smiles warmly at the meal he offered, graciously dipping her head. "Thank you, Caligula." She says, not wanting to rob the elder of his pride more than anything. She listens to his words, just as @Reti ♔ appears and she would nod polietly to him- brows raising in a content surprise as he greets the bronze male warmly. Well, Reti was just winning more and more points in her book.

"If you and your daughter would like a home here, it is always welcome to you." She says softly, but surely. "I would never turn you away, Caligula." She had liked the male the time she'd talked with him, and there was something about... well, Ghyslaine hoped when she was an elder there was a home to find. "Lorien has always been a sanctuary to anyone who needed a home, and though we're working towards strength now-" A glance to Reti, "You will always have a place here if you want it." She breathes out, leaving a chance for her Sovreign to speak.

"Trust me that I know it isn't much. I have always done better in a group than alone. I know my strength has always lay in the chase versus the catch." The bronze lion said when he was thanked for the meal. He would be the very first to admit to his faults.

Caligula was even more surprised to find Reti within the Plains pride. But still it was a welcome sight. This was someone whom had known him from before. This is someone who could understand the entirety of the toll that life had taken. Reti had been around from the times before the mass exodus. Reti was a surviving link to the past as he hadn't seen Copree or Hanneth in ages.

"Reti." The name was spoken fondly and Caligula smiled warmly at the male. "Had I known you would be here I would have brought something for you as well. Though I can't say I agree with your assessment of me looking well. Perhaps I have somehow managed to look better than how I feel." There certainly wasn't any concealing his age from either of these individuals. They had both known him when he still had his youth. And it wasn't like Caligula was ashamed of his advanced age. It didn't seem like many made it to elder any longer.

Caligula smiled when Ghys said he could have a home there. It wasn't like he outright expected her to turn him away but it also wasn't like she had to offer anything to him. "I would like it more for my daughter than myself but if me joining is the only way that she will come then that is just what I will have to do. I have a number of children scattered around, how opposed would you be to them visiting?" Caligula had always been big on family. He was all for his children finding their own paths in life but he still enjoyed spending time with them when the occasion would allow.

"Sadly strength is not something I have ever been able to offer." Caligula had always been a pacifist and refused to fight. Now in his advanced age strength really wasn't on his side. "I can't say I have much to offer anymore, though I still maintain my mind. I suppose advice and knowledge from a life fully lived is what I can provide." But was that really worth anything anymore?

Caligula is quick to dismiss the catch, to say that it isn't much and Ghyslaine slides a paw towards him across the grasses. "It is plenty, and it is most welcomed." She says firmly and warmly, aiming to meet his gaze. She isn't foolish, she can tell he is well-seasoned in life, he is an elder. She does not want to hear him belittling his contributions- because she simply does not see it that way. She is pleasantly surprised to hear the familiarity between Reti and Caligula, and she is silent- content to not interrupt their conversation.

Caligula's next words make her nod, "Your daughter is welcome here, and you are too if that's where you wish to be." She says kindly. "And any of your children who want to visit are more than welcome. I would never seek to enforce border over family- family is too important." She says sincerely. Had her daughters and sons come to visit she would expect them to be treated with welcome and warmly. Borders, simply were not that serious to her. To be respected, but some bonds extended over borders.

Some loyalties were worth more than a pride's tie.

"There is much strength to be gathered in knowledge." She says sincerely. "I think our youngsters, and even myself should take the chance to learn everything we can from your experience." She says, her words soft but serious. She could never ignore the wisdom he must have after living this long here.

He chuckled at this, giving his head a slight shake causing a few strands of maroon tipped black hair to fall past one eye "As ... painfully sentimental as it might sound, having you here is a gift in itself. I have few fond things from my past left to me now." so a familiar face he had positive feelings towards was beyond welcome.

"I would welcome visits. I would love to meet all of your children." curiosity laced his tone now. Faintly he could remember a few of them, the ones shared with Copree. Had the older male had more in the years since they last saw one another? He glanced at @Ghyslaine ♔ then, but could not imagine she would object to his family visiting. And indeed she confirmed his thoughts, assuring their visitor his family was welcome to visit.

He hummed and gave a little shrug "There are many types of strength my old friend. Those who rely on strength of muscle only tend to live short lives. I am certain you have plenty you can teach." if only the warnings born of experience. As his fellow leader stated, the pride had plenty of youth that could use advising.

"Would you like me to give you the grand tour?" he offered with a slight tilt to his head "The three of us could talk more while walking and showing you the best spots?" and of course the vital bits like where the dens, cache, and drinking spots were located. And he supposed the laws and relations needed to be presented as well.
