Idunn is not sure who bellowed the first war-call, or to whom she would place as the aggressor, all she knows is that when her paws crashed against the once-pristine sands of the Lagoon behind her Queen, a fire ignited in her blood that was not her own.

She could feel her ancestors stirring beneath her feet, a hundred Sigrun souls churning, their bones aching for battle. That physical urge to reave, pillage, and plunder; it clung to the giantess' soul - parasitic in nature but perhaps... just maybe... not completely disbarred by the woman it inhabited.

Sea-salt eyes dance from Sigrun ally to friend to apparent foe, searching to see where she could be needed. All a blur, all too fast, could they just -

A call cuts through to her driftwood ears, and she swivels to face the man who issued the challenge. Without much thought (or care to how little she had prepared herself for battle), the giant throws herself forward, her large paws outstretched, aiming to grapple and throw the man aside. Her teeth flashed a steely white as she moved to thrust herself against @Velasco, angrily, unquestioningly.

Rise, Sigrun, the sands seemed to whisper. Rise.

He had been so excited for his cousin. Asbjørn had so much respect for Diomedeidae. And Matthieu was such a good guy. You couldn't ask for a better union. And Asbjørn was ready to finally enjoy some peace for once.

Except the Gods had decided that today would not be that day.

The minute his aunt stepped into view, all hell had followed closely behind. It would figure though wouldn't it?. Seeing her was far too good to be true given she had lost her crown, and her freedom along with it.

As chaos erupted all around him, Asbjørn could only stand in enraged silence. At this point he was beginning to think himself cursed. For how could one lion go through life haunted by never ending turmoil? From where he had rooted himself on the beach, water gently lapped at his hind legs. An urging he knew to be from Vellen. Don't just stand there, boy. It said. Another battle. Another war.

Another test.

Lips peel back in answer. He had lost his fight the last time but he would not lose again. Silver eyes dart over the throng of writhing combatants. Until they land upon his uncle and the woman he stood locked with. A thundering roll of challenge is offered up for her, this Caladan lioness. Khal may show her mercy in the end but more and more Asbjørn was finding himself lacking in humanity. Where once he believed himself an honorable man, life was so quick to rip into him. Knock him down. Keep him down.

And for it, he would use that girl to hurt his enemies if he could.

It had been a minute since Pyracantha had been back in Amaryllis, she'd followed her son's trail out and when shed found Mars, she found herself taking in her grandson, she'd wished her son had came home but he'd chosen different and she didn't fight it. She had told him she would respect his decisions and she felt a bit better with him living his own life, making his own choices, and not living under the dominance of his female family.

When she entered Amaryllis with her grandson, she tried her best keeping him right beside her, but kids are sneaky, and he happened to slip from her, when she awoke, she panicked and immediately began her search.

His scent brought her to the challenge and now she carefully approached, being watchful, and mindful of the border l, daring not to cross it, she paused for a moment and let out a few chirps, calling for @Giovanni.

The woman seemed caught off guard but she said she could be a friend and that was good enough for Zinnia. Shuffling closer to the woman and watching the bizarre fight that Aphro was in. Both Haakon and Aphrodite were softening their attacks and the girl could not understand why. She recalled the conversation with Aphro not to long ago- not all of the Cove were enemies. Her brow furrowed. Were they…pretending to fight? Her head tilted. "Do they look weird to you?" She asked, her gaze never leaving the pair. When Aphro detached from the fight, she was relieved but it quickly left her body as she saw who her best friend was going to intercept. "No…" She whispered, it wasn’t time! They weren’t ready! Zinnia shifted on her feet, worry creasing her brow.

Her adopted mothers name was bellowed out and her skull jerked, turning in the direction of a scary looking male, her name was followed by a claiming roar and the girls heart drummed rapidly in her chest, fear sinking into her bones. No, no, no! "NO!!!" A scream as much as it was her own young roar as she lurched forward instinctively. They couldn’t have her! That was her mom now and they couldn’t take her like they took her entire family. Heart racing and limbs trembling she surged forward as lips peeled back in a snarl. Ears flattened as she ate the distance between her and @Velasco.

Another came in as well, white and spotted (much like herself) but she was freaking huge. It caused the girl to stumble, missing one step but not falling- she was getting good at running. As the woman tried to throw the man to the side, Zinnia did not stop, but would attempt to jump and with claws unsheathed she would attempt to dig them into his flesh and hold. She was going to climb to the top of this mountain of flesh and rip his fucking eyes out for trying to take her mother from her. Teeth bared, ready for the possibility of him trying to bite her, the black widow had trained her well, she thought she was prepared for it all.

Today was the day.

He was finally going to return to his home land, to step foot in the Lagoon after all this time. Once, he thought the feat to be impossible. For so long, even looking in the direction of his former home was too much to bear. His heart would pound erratically in his chest and he would struggle to breathe. Back then, it felt as if he were drowning in the waves of the oceans, even though he stood on solid ground.

He had not known the name of what came over him then, but no longer was he ignorant.

Fear would not bind him.

He owed it to Mutti to return, to lay to rest all the burden he carried on his shoulders. How could he ever hope to live if he continued to be weighed down by what was. There had been a time he felt that letting go was a betrayal. It felt like forgetting. It was the one thing he never wanted for her. How would she feel, to be as forgotten as he felt? Left behind because she was no longer visible? Then he could not bring himself to release his guilt and anger, and now, maybe he still couldn’t. Maybe he wasn’t meant to let go all at once.

He didn’t know.

But what he did not know was that he was tired. Tired of feeling forgotten and small. Tired of feeling like everyone else on the face of the planet had it all figured out. Tired of not being good enough. Tired of being a coward. He was meant for so much more. He was more than small. He was more than forgotten. He was Stärke and it was his time to take, just as @Melusina said. She was right. Had so much not been stolen from him? Did he not deserve something for all his suffering?

Yes, he thought, he did.

And it started today.

He held his head high with confidence as he walked towards the Lagoon. It was all going so well, until it wasn’t. He hadn’t reached the border proper when it hit him—the stomach churning scent of blood. At once, his heartbeat quickened. Next, his legs began to tremble. His belly felt like it had fallen to the ground. Then, came that damnable, cowardly thought— Run.

No.

No longer would he be a slave to fear. No longer would he run. No longer would he hide. Ignoring the failings of his body, he continued on, even as the sounds of chaos grew louder. He was meant for more. He could do more. No, not could. He would. In spite of the chaos unfolding around him, he held his own, lifting his chin as if to say without a word that he was no longer afraid.

Finally.

He could—

It was then, in his proudest moment that he sees them—Melusina and @Magdalena.

Fighting.

No, not fighting.

Trying to kill each other.

The scream that rips through his chest was unlionlike, shrill and full of abject terror. No, no, no! What were they doing? Why were they doing this? He couldn’t breathe— He couldn’t think— He couldn’t—

No.

He could not be overcome. Not now. He would not fail again when they needed him. He could not abide by it. Not now. Not ever again. So, he tried, desperately and in the midst of his horror, to reach them.

Tripfire didn’t do well in politics verbally, he was better used as a punisher for those who were against them. And it seemed to be a interesting development until he heard a familiar chirping that made his ear cock so hard he swore he strained it. Slowly his head turned among the group, trying to not appear excited or searching. But his yellow eyes were flicking rapidly across the crowd, he couldn’t see her but he knew that sound too well. Quickly he moved to @Louve’s side to whisper quickly, “**My wife has returned, I will be back” he reassured her with a meaningful glance towards the rough location he could hear her from. And without much else said he was off, making sure to duck around lions and take a wider path away from the group. To make it appear he was leaving the Lagoon. Once confident he wasn’t followed that he could see, he saw her and raced towards her. Quickly he moved to nuzzle at her head and neck, checking her over for injuries. “**My love, who are you calling for?” he asked confused, as she was using the call she usually did for their children. 'If you're going to kill me, then just do it.' He couldn't help the way his eyes rolled at that - were all cheetahs this dramatic? He generally knew them as cowardly, scrawny, things that were faster than any animal had any business being. This one had thrown himself into a fight, sure, so maybe not all of them were cowards, but he seemed to lose that determination the second the girl refused him.

Anyway, a pair of small paws shoved at him, earning little more than a grunt at the impact to his chest. Even so, Rémi's paw around the cheetah's neck shifted from trying to pull to attempting to push. His jaws slacked, releasing the grip on the cat's throat as he tried to shove the creature away from him, "Kill ya," he scoffed, "I'm not gon' kill ya, couyon¹. Not if ya take dis chance ta git lost." One chance to leave reasonably unharmed.

Damn him loving her. Damn him for doing this. Damn him for pulling at the thread of empathy in her heart that had not wholly vanished. As he spoke of his brother, and of how Anniston was important to her, Anya bared her teeth. Damn it, damn it, damn it. Did she tell you she willingly agreed to be his gentry? She was unsure if her words were an attempt to hurt him, or an attempt to get him to see the truth.

Still, he did not hurt her, and she was unsure what that meant to her. Was this pity? Was this his attempt to show she was beneath him? She did not know, but she did know she could not back away, not now. Much unlike what Ahyarë had done. In her actions, Anya saw an opportunity. How gleeful she would be to report this betrayal to him, if only to distract him from what she was truly up to.

Colsun, too, gave her an out. Keeping her voice low, she whispered back, You know what he’ll do if I relent. In truth, she had no idea what she was talking about and hoped only that whatever he meant would cause him to forgive the fact that she refused to give up.

Traitor! She shouted at Ahyarë, hoping that Colsun would think it was merely an act. It was, in truth, for she cared little for the other wives of Luther’s. But it would make appearances all that more believable and that was what she needed. As such, she attempted to bite his side, though only enough to make it look far more painful than it was.

Play along, she thought, even as she tried to draw a meager amount of blood.
