The watering hole was typically a place that hummed with activity, at least- Eisa could tell from all of the tracks, particularly the ones she'd been following to get here. Instead of neat narrow trails, earth was flattened and all of the tracks became muddled and almost impossible to decipher them from each other. However, the breeze that blew through her growing mane told her that something warm, and edible was nearby and so she drifted into the scraggly grasses, her body dropping into a poised crouch as she scented the air, and studied the land ahead- looking to see where the meal may be coming from.

With the weather still warm enough, Hero was out and about once again. Just because he had joined a pride now didn't mean he still couldn't go exploring around Amaryllis. If he was ever going to make something of himself, though, the yearling knew he needed to train more. The Hodari was just shy of his second birthday with hardly any kind of accomplishment beneath his belt. Maybe if he was still a prince, he might have amounted to something, but with nothing special about him now, he'd have to find a purpose the old fashioned way.

Despite his thick and plush coat, the masked lion decided to give swimming a try. He wasn't much for the water, but it sounded like a good opportunity to strengthen up his muscles in ways they may not usually be moved. At first, he struggled, paws moving quickly and frantically just to sustain a doggy paddle. Yeah, he definitely hadn't swam in a very long time. Hero was already regretting the action, but was persistent to see it through. Maybe just a few laps was all he needed. First, though, the Hodari had to go out far enough to where his paws didn't reach, feeling as if it would make his swim a little more challenging and worthwhile. Sure enough, even after just a few passes around the watering hole, he could already feel the strain in his limbs. This would do for a while.

After one particular lap, though, the sight of something stark red along the bank caught his attention. It was probably time for a little break anyway, so the Hodari slowly made his way back to shore. By the time he arrived, the scent of Vermeda hit his nose, making the boy think of meeting Solanum not so long ago. Looking at @Eisa, though, she looked like she was getting ready for a hunt, and Hero was more than eager to lend a paw. He gave a quiet chuff towards the girl before crouching down nearby, waiting for their target to become clear.

Leila had a good feeling about this hunt. The tigress had started to keep track of the red yearling's scent whenever she wandered to the savannah's lands. Even if their previous hunts hadn't been the most successful, Leila was always down for a hunt! She had been busy muddying her scent with a patch of citrus-smelling grass when she'd caught sign of the familiar lioness.

Closing in, she notes the presence of a dark yearling - though she didn't know @Hero's name, Leila offered him a bob of her head a she joined the two youngsters. "What're you guys hungry for?" she rumbled, in high spirits.

While the watering hole might serve as an easy means to quench one's thirst, the scavenger that was the dog found it as a perfect place to pick up toothpicks. Well, they always ended up as toothpicks once he was done with them. One had to be quick about finding drowned carcasses, but when he was lucky enough, the plum man could pluck a few bones for his own collection before other scavengers came along. And today, he had been most fortunate.

Teeth gnawed along a nice sturdy femur bone, probably that of a zebra or other large ungulate. Though the meat was long gone, the Obsidian lion fervently worked his way up and down the bone, scraping his teeth lengthwise along the porcelain surface. Only when he was sufficiently satisfied with the tartar removal would he allow himself the indulgence of actually cracking through the bone to get to the marrow. Such a reward, however, was put on hold when he saw lions, and a tiger, coming together for something. The former rogue assumed it to be a hunt, and so he was eager to snatch something for his own belly, maybe even more bones.

Just as he neared the small group, though, the tiger was questioning the pair of young cats about their preferences, it would seem. "Whatever dies easily," the dark man mused as he came up alongside @Leila. He'd never seen a tiger before, but somehow imagined them to be... bigger. Hm.

he’d come down here for some exercise, actually. it was probably easier to get way up on the summit, with all the steep terrain, but sometimes you just needed a change of scenery. it’s fun, at least, to speed across the fields — even if speed training wasn’t what he needed. he needed something to stretch his muscles and get some cool, sick gains and he finds just the thing. boulders litter the field and it’s an easy enough thing to jump from one to the other, making sure to bunch his muscles up underneath him before each and every hop. and with his weird little lykoi paws spread wide, his claws also got a nice trim and sharpening as they helped to haul him from one stone to the other.

now, virgil was a lot of things but determined wasn’t really… one of those. quicker than expected he grows tired of this and drifts away, intent on finding something else to occupy his time. fortunately for him, he finds just that. a small little group of lions ( including one very stripey lion! ) catches his attention and he drifts closer, happy to butt in. hey, i can help you guys hunt! he asks, ears tipping forward — tail all but wagging at the idea. he’s quick to quiet down though, ready to show off his very polished and practiced hunting skills.

Hexa found herself once again on a light jog. Making sure that she kept her muscles moving, as she didn't want to laze around too much. She wanted to keep herself strong, so she could defend herself if she truly needed to. As well as protect those that she cared for too if that was necessary. She found herself approaching a large body of water, and in the distance, she could see a crowd of lions.

She couldn't help but feel curious, and she calmly approached them. A few of them were speaking of a hunt it seemed. She offered a friendly smile to them all. "I'm a bit hungry, so I'd like to help catch us a tasty meal," she explained to the group. Offering her aid to the hunting party.

she is not used to seeing this many cats.

she had been busy, today. the creeping autumn chill lured her from the freeze — the fact that she wanted to get away from the brothers bjorn was incidental. she did not care if draven or his raven’s followed her, she just needed away. it doesn’t take much imagining to get lost here — the fields are a riot of colors and scents, even on the other side of summer. the little wolf is eager, always eager, to take her time and catalogue what she finds. most of the plants are known to her but some are wholly alien. unfamiliar petals and smells uncurl before her and she takes the time to collect them, pocketing them in the satchel around her neck for later. she takes the time, too, to roll in them and allow herself the exercise of covering her own scent. it will be good to hide from the brothers, and any others who might be lurking.

she is heading back to the freeze when she sees them. a group, large enough to notice, has gathered closer to the watering hole. tentatively she drifts closer to them, picking up words like hunt and eat. she says nothing but she can feel the empty void of her stomach, a gnawing hunger that never seems to go away. and so she seeks to join them, should they have her, hoping to find a way to be useful.

The watering hole was the perfect place to search for a bit more basil, especially considering how often she tested herbs to see if they were feasible or not. Sometimes they ended up being poisonous and the only thing you could do was chew on some basil and hope for the best. Picking out quite a few of them as carefully as she could and taking extra care to keep the roots intact and the leaves together, she began to scooch away. Taking the basil stem, leaves and roots with her while she investigated a wild bundle of monkey rope.

Carina investigated the plant carefully and tried to recall if she had perhaps given this to Tinuviel instead of what she thought she had. Helping the woman out only a few days prior with herbs and then for her to end up with a failed birth? It hadn't sat right with her and it felt like everywhere she looked, she was reminded that it could have been her. The last thing she needed was to have that looming over her head and yet, it never ceased. Even looking at the monkey rope, she felt certain that she had not given that to her Sovereign that day. She did not recall seeing the frosted dark green leaves or the tendrils of roots coming out of it, but she also could not entirely guarantee it either.

So with the call to go elsewhere her brain shook and she re-focused. Clenching the basil in her mouth she moved off. Attempting to completely forget about the rope and onto whatever hunt she was going for. Easing into the setting easily after setting her basil down, her eyes cast briefly to @Hero (because I intend for her to notice him in the other hunt) before moving towards him with a tiny little grin.

She felt far more uncomfortable in this one, as this young red girl called for the hunt. The call for blood was not that of the pale monster, was not a call that heralded violent bloodshed and art. She didn't like it, and yet, she still craved drawing the crimson beneath her claws- whether it's what they wanted or not. Red gaze peered at the foliage around her as she headed towards the group, feeling inward disgust and frustration as they spoke casually of why they were going to take down. The mauve lioness would stand a few feet from the group, waiting for them to begin the less awkward part of their gathering.

It was one part instinct and one part plain old-fashioned sense of fun that had set him bursting out of the bush, sending the flamingos flying wildly in a vivid sheet of pink. He'd known he stood no chance of actually catching one, but it feels nice to be running, the wind rippling through his burnet mane and refreshing his senses. He keeps a good pace, drawing in a deep intake of fresh air, and shakes himself out exuberantly as he passes the pond, the pink birds shortly forgotten. His gaze is sweeping the prairie, admiring the incredible splendor of the trees' fall colors, some stubborn flowers still clinging onto the last vestiges of summer. Then his attention is directed away, not by anything he sees, but by a faint scent. Somewhere near, prey is afoot. And by the smell of it, others have already caught its trail, too. Never one to miss out, he diverts course, hoping to make it preferably before all the food's gone.
