We weren't planning to have an update this early but after going through the guidebook we decided that we wanted to get some things in place and not hold onto them until the spring. This will be a long one, so grab a drink and settle in. These are all fairly large changes so it will be important for all members to know what the changes are.
We will be working towards having twice-a-year updates on the site. Since we have opened, we have been making changes multiple times a year and we are all a little weary from them. If something comes up that we feel needs a fix right away, we will use the Quick Fire Updates, as you saw before this update. We want to get to a spot where the site can do its thing and not need a lot of extra work from the Sr. Staff team.
While we are a site that is made up of suggestions and working with the members, when and how that happens is up to the Sr. Staff. Not everything is going to be a member vote, not every suggestion is going to be implemented. We have methods for these and they will be followed. Please be respectful of how the Sr. Staff uses these.
We want to remind all members that OOC and IC need to stay separated. Always.
Examples of OOC to IC or IC to OOC issues :
- Excluding people from other plots because they challenged for a pride you enjoy.
- Not considering players to adopt your cubs because one of your characters is at war with theirs.
- Ignoring people in the server because their character betrayed yours.
- Threatening to quit if something isn't done your way.
- Taking out your frustrations over a plot or character action through passive-aggressive comments.
- Guilting another into something.
- Excluding people from plots or adopts because of who you think their friends are.
- Questioning the behavior of someone's character because you disagree with it.
- Using one of your characters to attack or punish another character because of something that happened between a friend and another player.
We also want to remind members that it is not your job to question or interrogate others about the motive of their character. As long as the site rules are being followed, let people enjoy themselves.
We want everyone to take an honest look at how they are interacting with other members on the Discord server. This is supposed to be a fun place for us to gather and talk about our shared interests. Being aggressive or passive-aggressive with your messages or emojis/reactions isn't going to be allowed. Sr Staff will be taking a stronger stance on this and if we feel that you have been breaking this, we will mute you without notice. Multiple mutings will result in a server ban and possibly a site ban. Please be mindful of how you are talking with people.
When anyone (a member or staff) asks for a conversation to be stopped because it is making them uncomfortable, that should be respected. If it is not, you will be muted and risk a higher level of punishment.
If you don't have anything nice to say, you don't need to say anything.
We all have to work together to make this a community that we all want to be part of.
Our Guidebook has undergone some big changes.
- Most of these changes are cosmetic while others are much-needed updating on the wording.
- We ask that ALL members go through each page once again and see all the changes! Many things that have been asked or explained in the help channel have been added in some way to help members have a better understanding.
- We did our best to get all the major updates added in this update, there may be smaller ones or things that were adjusted a little in the guidebook but for the most part, it should all be here.
Thank you to our Guidebook review team!
A lot of work got done in a very quick amount of time with a lot of pressure! All those pages were reviewed in 7 days!! You earned those exp boosts!
Brand New!
Be sure to check out our Mechanics Overview! It goes over the rolls that you use on site.
Go ahead and take a look at that Lore page. Finally.
Maintenance changes to note:
- Any time any guidebook page has been updated, the date on the welcome page will be updated. It will also be linked to the most recent update that caused the changes.
- The date at the bottom of each guidebook page that has been changed will link to the update that caused the change to happen.
- We will open suggestions on a limited basis moving forward. While great for gathering ideas, they are extremely taxing on the team. Suggestions will open up in January & May this year. Our Minor & Non-Mechanic related suggestion form will remain open year round.
- You may now reset your RDG's as many times as you want. You cannot refund RDG characters.
- Two new breed-only colors will be announced when the site reaches 200,000 IC posts!
- Leaders are moving to 3 posts a week. Leadership posting checks will happen every Friday. Leaders need to have their 3 posts done before Friday.
- Pride page checks (posting, news, history) happen on a biweekly cycle. Checks are done on every second Friday EST, when the IC month rollover happens.
- Pride and Band Leaders now have their own Absence Form to fill out when going away, this is to help staff better track when leaders are coming and going.
- When challenging for a pride, there is a form for it now in the Petal Requests thread.
- Partner Roulette is back! Please read the thread to see the changes and how you can take part!
- New Shop Item - Gifted Item Pass - 500 Petals
- A pass that allows you to give one unused gifted item (from advents, post raffles, etc.) of yours to another player. Please post in General Maintenance after purchasing this item with the specifics of the item you're gifting
- The loser of a death match will now post before the winner, no matter what the original post order is, and they will have 3 OOC days to do so.
- After that post or the 3 OOC days have passed, the winner may post.
- No one else will be able to respond to the outcome until both the loser and winner have posted OR 6 OOC days have passed.
- Using a perk to bring a character back to life must be OOCly agreed upon prior to anyone posting the attempt. The loser can add a note to the bottom of their posts to let others know that an attempt will be made.
- You can use passive perks (+1 to dice) on your own characters within a thread (keeping in mind their stacking limitations), but you cannot use an active perk (bringing back to life, seeking if hiding) on your own character within a thread.
- We have removed the Awards link in the header and replaced it with Monthly Games. After reviewing the awards plugin, we do not think it will work with how we have our awards without major coding updates.
- We have updated thread prefixes with new images. You can find them in the FAQs page of the guidebook under the Posting and Threads tab.
- These are a little larger and should cover everything that is needed. We did remove a few and add a few.
- Three new Relics skins! Thank you to kins and max for getting Relics of Winter, Relics of the Shadow, and Relics of Sunrise available for use!

Miscellaneous
After a year of work, we are done with the trade system!
New trade tasks have been added.
- In the guidebook, they are marked by an asterisk (*) and can only be claimed in threads started AFTER January 1, 2025. They cannot be claimed on threads before that.
- You will notice that we have removed some tasks, you can still claim those if you are working on them and they are all listed here! You will be able to claim these tasks for 6 months after this update as long as the thread was started before this update.
A massive thank you to the trade team that helped get it knocked out!
Tier 7 for Prides
+10 exp to threads started within the pride lands
- Earned after holding Tier 6 for 3 consecutive OOC months.
- Earned/held via posting like Tier 6
Tier 5 for Bands
The maximum amount of band members is removed from the Band for as long as they stay at Tier 5 AND +5 exp to trade threads within the band territory.
- After remaining at Tier 4 for 3 OOC months, the band can try for Tier 5.
- This perk is tied to the band members' posting, just like Tiers 6 & 7 for prides are.
- The amount needed is the same as for prides.
- If they fall back to Tier 4, they will have 1 OOC month to get back to Tier 5. If they fail in the following month, normal band number limits will be back in place.
- Only threads started after the perk is in place can have the +5 exp.
You will notice that the pride page is now explained in the guidebook, for both the members of the pride and for the leaders who are in charge of updating it.
You will see that the pride page is now broken out with some new categories. These include Royalty, High ranks (now Nobles only), Medium ranks (now Gentries only), Unranked adults, Unranked youth, and Prisoners.
We have also added a new age category, Elder, for those who have reached that point in their lives. Those within a pride have been updated, if you have an elder rogue, please request that they are updated.
Changes to Ranks Abilities
Leaders are now able to give different abilities to certain ranks. We hope that this will allow some variety and flexibility with leadership styles. All of these are detailed on the Pride Ranks page in the guidebook.
- Each level of rank will have a base level that is the same across all the prides and then leaders will be able to customize what else their ranks are able to do.
- Leaders must list out what they allow their ranked members to do on the LAWS page in their pride information.
- Ranked members will have what is listed and the base abilities only. If there is nothing listed, they have the base abilities only.
- This will require members to check and leaders should keep their members up to date if things get changed.
We know that this will take some time to get used to but we hope that it will also add a fun layer to the site and a little more differences between the prides.
In light of the above changes
- Only properly listed ranks are able to turn pride members into prisoners and take prisoners in wartime.
- Leaders need to list out their prisoner rules, separately from the other pride laws.
- Escape attempts must use the ESC thread tag to make it clear an escape is being made. The escape also must be CLEAR in the post as well.
- Escape attempts can only happen within the pride OR a land bordering the pride.
- If escaping EM, you can post within Aniadar Jungle. From the Summit, you can post in the Freeze. Escaping from the Hollows, you can post in The Dunes, Badlands, Labyrinth, or the Pit. Take a look at the map for help.
- If you aren't sure, ask a Sr Staff member.
We have made some changes to our Mentorship System in hopes that it will be used more often.
- Parent-to-cub mentorship does not need any threads to become a mentor/apprentice pair, but does need at least 1 thread to receive the award and will need to keep up with all other requirements to keep it.
- To become official, we are dropping the number of completed threads needed from 4 to 3 (unless you have the Erudite perk to reduce it to 2 threads).
- You now need a trade thread once every 3 OOC months (vs the previous every month) to remain official.
Thank you Muu for figuring out how to design a few new Awards!
We do have a few more in the works but for now, enjoy...

On the Hunt page you will see a new tab for Cub Hunts!
These hunts are for cubs only.
- Yearlings or adults joining the hunt to help will void the hunt. They are able to observe but that is all.
- These hunts will not count towards pride or band tiers.
- Cubs will use their luck dice only!
Kivuli won the last BWP and so some changes are coming!
Over the next several IC months, your characters can notice that the Scorched Wilds are regrowing. Things will grow oversized in every way possible and truly stand out as something beyond this world, something old.
You can play this out how you would like but on our side, it will be "complete" by August Y14.
The streams around the Wilds will have small crystals for those brave enough to dive in. Kivuli can sometimes be seen among the shadows.
The Shadowed Wilds is also another place for the Afterlife to be able to post within. They do not need to know who Kivuli is in order to show up there.
Thank you all for waiting out the downtime. Enjoy the updates. If you have questions please use the proper channel in discord to ask them.
