As the balance shifted, and the other boy began to go down, Zaahir would relent in his efforts to bite at the back of the stranger's neck, to save himself from being fully dragged down. Even his paws would release their grip - though his claws did attempt to drag through the other boy's shoulders as they went - and return to the ground. Though this left him sort of straddling the other's front half.

His opponent landed in the sand, and Zaahir did find his own front end yanked downward somewhat by the stranger's own grip on his shoulders (a fresh wash of pain at the pull to his skin), which left him in a sort of half-crouch and scrambling to angle his rear end alongside the other so his throat wasn't so exposed.

The other boy's rear claws caught him in the hollow of his right hip, cutting upward, and Zaahir realized the stranger had been aiming for his belly. Okay. Serious fight, then. Fangs sought to clamp down on the other boy's throat, even if it meant putting his left cheek in the path of snapping fangs (thin skin parting with a sting along his jawline). And, as payback for that little disembowelment attempt - Zaahir would raise his right rear paw and attempt to bring it down hard right between his opponent's rear legs.

Sable's teeth were cut short of their target by the jut of the woman's jaw bone. She flinched back at the jolt of pain through the length of her body, momentarily stunned. It wasn't until the blood came rushing back into her now freed paw in throbbing pulses, that she could regain her sense, though much too late to react.

She hovered above Brighid with her three good paws just as the forceful punch of the woman's hind legs came crashing into her gut, propelling her rear end clear into the air. With only one paw now on the ground, she was unable to keep herself from tumbling head first over the woman and in disorientation from the unplanned rotation, she made a desperate attempt for the woman's ear as her jaws flew past.

Daedric had learned a lot in the simple act of observation, but to watch could only do him so much good. He needed personal experience in a fight, one fought against someone who wasn't his father going easy on him. He might be compelled to fight, but there was no known enemy here. None had attacked Fissure, the one lion he would have jumped in to aid if given the opportunity.

Eyes would focus on @Icefang ♔, watching her latch on to her opponent, a hold that might allow her to claw at their tender underside. Daedric would have to add that move to his observed collection.

He realized that the bit of wood he was clawing at was close to breaking completely apart. With a frown, he would drag his claws through the bark a couple more times before abandoning it as a scratching post. He would decide it was time for him to leave. He would not find what he was looking for here, and until he was ready to join in a war, he would go back to training.

Teeth only catch the side of Icefang's cheek, and a quiet growl of annoyance escaped her. No matter. She would do whatever she could to continue to make sure that Icefang would bear the marks of this battle for the rest of eternity. Perhaps she'd even remove some part of her limb or make it so that she was permanently crippled. Tail lashed behind her as Icefang moved away from her, but not without marks left from her ripping her claws off of the white bitch's shoulders.

A snarl escaped her as the other stood just out of range, ears pushing back as she snarled at the other lioness. Not even caring at the moment, Cassandra would lunge towards her. Not aiming to graps onto any main part of the other's body - but instead aiming for the paw that swiped out in front of her. Her jaws would aim to snap down hard on Icefang's paw if she was able to grab it, and if she was able to grasp onto the other's paw, she would aim to yank and shake Icefang's leg if she got a hold on it.

She may have been summoned here, but Delphine did not arrive with the intention to throw herself into the fray. Instead, she coated herself in the shadows, slipping along the edge of the chaos in whatever way would keep her out of the prying eyes of the onlookers. It was clear with whom Wolfbron rallied behind – but without a personal stake in this kingdom (the lagoon had never appealed to her), the Dieudonne was content to watch, first, and decide if she would get involved later. The messy politics at play soared high above her head, of course, and she had no idea of the intricacies that laced themselves between the array of leaders already present – and so, satisfied in her naivety, Delphine found a vantage point, slightly above the ensuing carnage, that would provide for a comfortable seat for the unraveling show. Concealing herself amongst some foliage, it was there that she would watch, her eyes wide and scrutinizing all-the-while.

WE'RE BORN INTO THE GRAVE

Gauthier’s children need not quell the verbose fury of the little shadow, as Everick’s ghostly form bounds from his newfound place beside the patriarch to snatch the opportunity while it lasts. Satisfied, he returned his attention to the battles that raged on, his eyes scanning the crowd for Firnen and lone contenders. However, the streak of mahogany reserves his surprise as the familiar presence of his daughter also lunges for the wry creature whom his nephew has picked – and halts the moment they collide, incensed.

A small chuckle reverberated in his throat as she abandoned the effort, visibly unsettled by the robbed potential. Sweetling, full of teeth and rage. It is a shame he will not get to witness that which writhes inside her, that inherited wrath and fine-tuned skill, to watch it blossom into something as great and terrible as her mother. But it will come, he tut-tutted as she joined his side, she would test her innate sense of violence and bloodlust soon enough with avid patience.

As his eyes scanned the surroundings, he noted the presence of @Nyaxia and @Arkyn standing before her and he looked to the few who remained without opponents: their presence blended with the bloodshed that peppered the field, bodies entangled in slashing and crunching madness here and there. One, presumably manged, waited close by the yearling Everick had selected. And another midnight-hued male waiting between the flashes of one battle and the next. Others stood engrossed in their own means, conversing or studying the war that unfolded before them. But before he could discern whose motive meant more —

There is some retched war howl peeled from his left, and he knows all too well it isn’t the sound of pain or otherwise agony. There is rage in it, valiance, and Gauthier is too protective of the young creature at his side and vigilant in the ambiance of chaos to go unheeding of its note.

He swung toward the beast that barrelled after him, flattening his ears and maintaining the stout line of spine to lowered neck, claws dug into the dirt to brace himself as his opponent rushed him on, attempting his best not to slam them both into @Mélisande beside him. A shoulder rammed into the center of his ribs in blunt, bruising force, knocking the wind from his lungs as Reti’s teeth found bunched meat on his left shoulder, shearing through the skin. Pain radiated from the course of claws that dragged just east of the blossoming bruises of his aching ribs as Gauthier attempted to wrench his own teeth-filled hold on the muscles at the hind-base of Reti’s left shoulder, his right paw reaching with the intention of curling a digging set of claws into his opponent’s (left) latissimus closest to the spine.

@Dresden – Her voice was hitched low as she slipped amongst the fray that they now found themselves, somehow, a part of, searching instinctively for her sister’s side within the mass of bodies. Tove was no stranger to the stories that both of her parents had shared, nor to the calamity and chaos that seemed all-too familiar in these lands – but seeing it first hand was different, stirring something within the yearling’s chest that she had yet to fully understand. She was not afraid, she knew that much, but it was with a cautious gaze that she settled amongst @Khal and her littermate, ears tilted forward as she waited for, presumably, something evident to fall at their feet and signal the need for their involvement.

The faces here were, mostly, strangers after all. Distance and inexperience deterred her from understanding much more than the fact that they, in some shape and work, would be involved in this messy ordeal. Either today, or the day after, or the day after that. As was the way the world seemed to work.

she can hardly tell up from down as she lays pressed against the sands of the lagoon, attempting to ward off @Sable's savage teeth. her hind paws scrabble and find purchase in the wolfbron cat's underside and in a desperate attempt, her opponent tries to find and snag whatever she can. brighid has protected her throat, though the delicate cartilage of her ear is left unattended in her haste. teeth latch onto the folded skin, piercing through one side and out of the other. a pained snarl catches in her throat as the flesh is torn and she hears an ocean of blood. brighid knows that she would be a fool to stay here with her back grounded; this was not a battle she could win from her current position and in a last ditch effort to free herself, she slams a dark forepaw upward and towards the other lioness, anything to free herself, anything to hold onto her dignity.

Her body hit the ground beyond the woman's head and she felt the thin skin of the ear puncture with ease as her teeth met once again with a clack. Hot blood rushed in to fill her mouth and, mixed with sand-coated fur, left a gritty-metallic taste on her tongue that she wished to be free of. Eyes screwed shut as claws began to reach for her face, blindly searching for flesh to rend, and she jerked back to avoid further injury. The ripping of flesh was a distinct sound and she could feel the piece in her mouth free itself from what remained attached.

She rose quickly, careful to avoid weight on her injured paw. Disgust swept through her and she spit the flesh onto the space between them, dark blood staining the once pristine, white fur and spreading into the grains of sand around it. She eyed it for a moment then looked at the chaos in full bore around her. Then back to @Brighid ♔. "You'll want to have that looked at," she said, indicating the space where the ear used to be. She had not intended to fight, but as was typical with war, the fighting inevitably found her and she did what must be done to defend herself; though, it still didn't diminish what she had done to the other woman. "I think it best that you leave now. Stay along the edges to avoid drawing attention and further attack to yourself."
