The heavy shadows of dusk deepened across the canyon floor, where the dark imp had made her way to the edge of the creek. It was much wider than it was deep, and around it sprouted flowering desert willows and other vegetation that few would expect to encounter in the perceived wasteland. The flowers had turned the air fragrant, and it was under one blossom-heavy branch where Léonie lay crouched, peacefully lapping from the cool water.

Summer
The summer season has finally reached its peak. The sunshine is plentiful, the days are long and the air is hot and humid - but the evenings do not seem to provide the same relief that they once had, and remain somewhat stuffy. Thunderstorms have also began appearing more frequently, particularly in the rainforest and eastern region, though the rain is welcomed after a relatively dry season thus far.

MATRON OF THE WASTES

Summer
A busy day of scouting the territory and strengthening the border she’d established had come to an end. It had been tiring work, and for one reason only: the swell of her belly that, while relatively small, could no longer be denied. Léonie had visited the memory of the storm more and more and every time, she could sense her there — the daughter she carried and would soon meet. She had no idea how she’d explain her existence to her family though, especially Scorpius, and so she had simply decided against it. The future Léonie would have to deal with that, not her.

Always having been a curious creature he had decided to take it upon himself to visit the location that his mother had set aside for herself and the others that might follow. A part of him felt extraordinarily guilty that he was a part of a pride whilst his mother had started to brainstorm this new band of hers. He wanted to help but he also did not wish to abandon the Lagoon, either. Especially as it felt too soon after he had just joined and even more so because they were expecting war. Most would probably look to him and expect him to turn the other way at the first sign of escape but he did not wish to start off like that. So close to his two years, he wanted to make himself memorable. A lion worth another's time. Mum? he called out, keeping his distance so as to not try and traipse over her hard work. Even if this was going to be her home, he still wanted to respect what was not directly his. @Léonie
A spotted ear flicked as the voice of her nearly grown hairball tickled it. The dark imp picked up her head and beamed while she turned toward the handsome sunspot her son had matured into. “Oh, sure, NOW you want to respect your mother’s privacy,” Léonie called back, remembering how he and his brothers had mercilessly invaded her and Thrain’s space as children. Soon, perhaps he would have a taste of what that felt like when his sibling arrived — because she fully intended to occasionally leave the child with him so they could properly bond as brother and sister. That, and she wanted to make sure @Güelle understood how rambunctious children could be, as a way to deter him from making his own anytime soon. He needed to live his life a little, and she was too young to become a grandma.
“Ven aca,” she invited him in. Come here. “Make yourself at home, mi hijo. It’s yours, no matter where you stay,” Léonie hummed, her charcoal paws moving her closer, so that she could give his cheek a reassuring bump with her head. She did not want to pull her son away from whatever path he had started to travel, but she would make sure he knew that there would always be one that led back to her, should he need it.

At first, he was riddled with confusion. Not understanding that she was referencing a part of his life when he really couldn't remember jackshit. The only things he honestly remembered was being smothered by tons of cousins and siblings. Now, though, he could easily do the smothering but it also turned out that it really was just him hanging around now. Sorry, he offered without knowing exactly what it was he was apologizing for but that was Guelle, really.
With a deep inhale and a tight smile he moved towards @Léonie following her command. Getting situated and settled into this place that she was slowly making for herself. He liked it, loved it even, but he knew he had a duty to the Lagoon. At least for now. I want to join you, he offers quickly before settling down, and I will... eventually, I think. Provided that nothing major decided to halt the process but he wanted to be near to his family. They were important and he refused to let anything basic stand in his way of that. Have you seen any of my siblings? He asks, hopeful that he might not still be the only one still standing within Amaryllis.

@Güelle seemed not to understand her prodding and rather than explain, the Miroslav mother merely chuckled. One day — in the distant future — he would likely have his own children. The realization would dawn on him then.
She beckoned him in and he moved closer, explaining that he wanted to join her — eventually. Léonie had expected that and rather than seem disappointed or wounded by his choice, she provided a reassuring smile. “The Lagoon took you in. You’ve got a duty to stay and help them as thanks. I get that,” she hummed, believing that was the root of Güelle’s decision. “That’s honorable. And honor’s hard to come by. I’m glad it’s natural for you.” She did not have to look hard to find shades of Thrain in him and as happy as that made her, it pained her that he was missing these moments. She could only hope that he was making memories with Güelle’s siblings instead — that he had found them and was caring for them.
Her thoughts were on her missing sons when Güelle mentioned them, prompting the dark imp to sigh out as she took a seat on the ground. “No. A lot of kids leave home though. They go out and stretch their wings, try to fly on their own. But they always know where the nest is,” she explained, choosing to remain optimistic. “I like to think your dad’s with them.”
There was a brief pause in her words as she wondered how to finally reveal what it was she needed to share. “You have a sister coming,” the mother remarked at last. “Soon.” Léonie had never been one to beat around the bush.
