Fraught blows the wind, preceded by no ill omen. Outward and onward the ocean seethed. Inland, circumstances dwindle to a small circle of watchful lions as two titans tumble. Imago observed without a hitch in stride. A long swing of lowered skull, lingering behind several steps - then a blink, judgmental and yet patient. Onward the scraggly lykoi tromped toward the shallow sand that drifted up toward the cliffs. Here, in this poor soil, yet sheltered from the salt, grew strands of thick aloe. Leathery, crisp, and coarse. Imago tugged at the base of the plant - then gnawed at the root of a single stem - then settled for shredding it halfway up the stalk, its segmented insides already bared and oozing. The lion chomped a messy mouthful and placed them on the closest bare patch of rock, nudging at them so their open ends tipped toward the sky. They would not drain uselessly before their time.

once again, he is out and about when the call for a territory draws his attention. he comes up on the fight having already rolled in some dirt and mud which would both mask his scent and cover his brighter fur. the purpose of this excursion wasn't necessarily to make his presence known and instead to observe the fight and see how other, more battled hardened lions used their skills. karsa is a sponge, eager to learn. standing just outside the borders of caladan, karsa clambers onto a distinct looking outcropping (looked kind of like a zebra heart) that he could easily use again should he need to find his way to this territory. from his raised position, the boy has a decent amount of cover that nobody who wasn't specifically looking for him would find him, and a clear view of the fight and some of the territory. just on the other side of the border, karsa notes a large, looming patch of coconut trees. a useful source of food and hydration should a drought or other disaster hit the lands - interesting.

magdalena is already near caladan, collecting herbs that prefer the salt-tinged air when the call for the pride rings out. this is not her first time observing such a fight but as she picks her way over a small ridge, there is far less blood being spilled than the last challenge that magdalena had been present for. she turns immediately, hiding behind the trunks of some coconut trees that grow just a few feet away, hopefully before anyone has noted her presence. just like another, she has noticed the aloe which grows abundantly in this sandy, pebbly ground. there is a few plants which grow not far from her hiding spot and so magdalena gets to work pulling one of the large, spiked leaves from the plant and planning to grab one more leaf before leaving. after setting it upside down against one of the trunks, her mismatched eyes peer through the thick tree trunks to gauge how damaging arkyn's hold on kvare's neck would be. if the wrong vessel had been punctured with the move, the man would easily bleed out and thus she prepares to swoop in if she was needed. though most times, the answer was a resounding no.

Well now this was quite interesting to stumble upon. Vincenzo had finally made his way to where it seemed his family had settled, being able to pick up their scent every now and again as he passed the sandy area that seemed to separate these lands from the rest. He was following one of those very scent trails when he'd heard a challenging call ring out into the air, and as curious as a feline was he, the Savante made his way toward the beach pride. Colossal form moved with calculated paw steps, not stopping until the small gathering and the two lions fighting were in his line of vision. He made sure to stay behind what smelled like a border, brow rising slightly.

Purple gaze shifts between the two challengers, noting the savagery behind their attacks. It made the fur along his spine to bristle, muscles stiffening and eyes narrowing. Something about their brutality was trying to chip away at walls he had built in his mind to keep memories he'd rather forget from leaking through, and the itch it created inside his skull was one that would cause for Vincenzo to let out a low growl, mostly to himself. He'd remain standing where he stopped, trying to figure out who was the challenger and who was the one defending their crown.

She walked as if to the beat of a steady drum, her ears pitched back against her head and her tail waving lowly behind her. Time stretched on endlessly since she had last known this land like the back of her paws, and Hrefna was more eager than ever to become acquainted with her surroundings. She attempted to slip past the border near a particularly rocky area, trying to blend into the shadows with languid movements so as to use her dark pelt to her advantage. She was a decent distance away, yet could still make out a decent fight underway between a pair of large males upon the sands.

Interesting. Hrefna studied the crowd from her vantage point, trying to tally any outward support for either opponent. It seemed that the darker lion had far more backing than the lighter one, though there was no telling if he had support lying in wait similarly to Hrefna.

as the fight continues, karsa's attention is captured completely. he notes the way that arkyn seems to push his weight forward onto kvare - a mistake - and the boy is ecstatic to have recognized it as such. the first of violarum's lessons had been to keep weight evenly balanced on each limb, or at least, as much as was possible. kvare seems to recognize the mistake as quickly as karsa had and makes a move to use the mistake against arkyn, attempting to throw the challenge off of him. he can tell from their weeping wounds and labored breaths that the fight is likely to come to an end soon and presses forward just the slightest bit, careful not to shake the thicket that shrouds him, to get a better view of the conclusion. momentarily, his attention is captured by vincenzo, the deep red of the man's fur and the dappling over his back reminiscent of alexander in a way that makes karsa wonder for a moment if he should know who this man is. just as quickly as he had glanced away, the boy's focus returns to the fight, too eager to linger on any additional thoughts for too much longer.

she thinks the fight is fairly tame for now, though both men are injured, neither has managed to land what looks like a fatal blow to the other. the girl watches as kvare slams his chin against arkyn's head. it makes her wince, the ringing in her head almost certainly echoing what was in arkyn's head at the moment. magdalena's aware of what to look for after the challenge ended, the dilated pupils, dizziness, and confusion which would hint at problems more significant than a bump or bruise on the head. perhaps ingesting something like goldenrod would help with the potential inflammation, but that wasn't something magdalena had access to right now anyway. with the first of the aloe leaves now ready to be brought back. the girl creeps back over to the plant and gently pries off one more large, spiked leaf. as it is set with the other within her coconut tree grove, mags turns her gaze to the fight to watch it until it's bitter conclusion.

Pointed ears twitched, her attention seeming glued to the fight with a delight that was quite unsettling. Or at least that was how it had always been to others before. She was content on the stone she'd chosen. But then she leapt off of it in a graceful, fluid motion and pranced alongside the border, dancing that fine line with one paw on the territory and one paw on neutral land.

"Morfeth ukta vlos'h!" The silken furred Herald called out in a delighted trill. "Glit'r doeb ukt solen!" Oh how it excited her. Her heart thundered in her chest as she continued her dancing movement along the border, eyes never leaving the fight while at times dropping into the sand for a quick roll. Not until something from the corner of her eyes drew her attention. It was enough to make her pause, a paw in the air. But then she turned and half stalked, half danced towards @Vincenzo with a glint in her eyes. "Now you...you have an interesting pattern."

Every other day there was a call to arms, it seemed. The one thing that might bring the woman from the high peaks just to see who came out on top. Although, she didn't think she would be watching her family go back and forth over land. Politics, politics. Yavanna had little care for them. Penin cheniad. The lyrical tongue of her mother's sindarin tongue flows easily from her lips, confusion marring her pallid features. The woman didn't know the inner issues with the two, didn't know that Arkyn had once fought Kvare's current wife. She had been in the mountains, away from the political squandering of the local areas. Right now it seemed like a crown was causing problems within bloodlines and that was idiotic to her.

mithril

The rogue yearling did not like the coast, but he’d been studying herbs nearby when the call thundered across Amaryllis. The stability of some pride had been threatened, leading Mithril to wander closer to observe the outcome. He paused along the way, sidetracked by the thick aloe that grew near the borders. On the shore, the aloe was smaller, thinner. It seemed they were allowed to grow here, where few travelers dared to wander so close to the border of a pride. Mithril did though, and arrived to the challenge with a frond gently clutched in his teeth, careful to avoid breaking the skin. He purposely stood in the distance, where the chatter was too broken for him to eavesdrop. The battle, however, could be seen.

Placing his aloe at his paws, the shadow lifted his head again to see who was willing to shed more blood for this pitiful patch of sand.
