Jethro tried to ignore the pang of apprehension in his chest with each step he took across those red rocks. His gut tightened as visions of the months-long journey flashed over his mind, days spent starving and arguing and stumbling with bleeding paws. It's over, he reminded himself with the hint of a sneer. A lion so large as he could not be bothered with the past, of all things.

He made his way toward what he had been tracking in the first place: the scent of another congregation of lions to follow after. While the scent of prey lingering in the autumn air was (of course) tantalizing for a stray predator, Jethro had been focused on honing his strength now that he could eat regularly once more. He moved in tandem with the others to add his muscle to the operation.

Something pricked at the hairs of her nape as Hekate wandered through that red rock passage. It was almost as if that place should be familiar to her, and yet each rounded bend proved utterly new to the girl. She narrowed her gaze suspiciously as she approached that gathering of lions, quickly picking out the familiarity of her sister's pelt and attempting to flank her closely.

"By ancient wisdom and nature's grace, may your aim be true and your quarry embrace its fate."

She uttered the words of the blessing as if the prayer could ward away those odd feelings. Swallowing to try and clear her nerves, Hekate surged forward to assist more physically in the hunt.

It was not often she thought to go to a place like the dunes to hunt for herbs, but the call for a hunt had caught her attention and she wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity. She walked through, surprised to find as many herbs and other flora scattered out among the rocks. She took it in, but a particular climbing scrub caught her attention. Gambier was an astringent, and great for dressing wounds. It would have been exceptionally helpful the first night she’d patched Anthonius up, but she couldn’t resist moving closer to bite off a chunk of the stem with plenty of leaves. She set it off to the side before joining the others, making a mental note of where she had left it so she would remember to gather it before leaving. At first she saw them in the distance, glittering like a mirage or some other form of desert trickery. Her eyes traced their outline, following their path until the drew closer. Until the giraffe herd was just in reach. From past experience, Lune knew just how tricky bringing down a giraffe could be but she also knew that the meat could be so so sweet. Definitely worth the risk. Slowly, Lune lowered herself to the sandy floor, wishing for nothing more than the blend into the scarlet hues.

She would move with the rest of the party, running alone the side of the giraffe. Leaping and aiming to take chunks out of the animal's stomach, whatever it would take to bring the beast down. Lune did not give up even though she did grow fatigued. Working together, the hunting party ended up brining down not one but two of the beasts. Lune hungrily tore into the giraffe's stomach. Enjoying the warmth of the meat and how if felt running down her throat and filling her stomach - warming from the inside out.

Lune could not bask in this pleasure long. She had to return to her herbs and finish her collection. Rising to her feet she glanced triumphantly at the rest of the hunting party before leaving with a quick nod.

IANTHE

If small Ianthe had a difficult time making it up the gorge, she has absolutely no idea how two grown giraffes managed to do it. Perhaps they're more agile than they look - it would make sense, given how hard it is to hunt them.
Ianthe believes completely in Hekate's blessings, and sends a silent thank you to the higher power who had granted them victory. Though she's more interested in the small bloom of nursing herbs she can see growing between a few rocks, Ianthe still takes her portion of the meal and then some. There's certainly plenty to spare, and it would be wise to help stock the pride's food storage before winter.
Food sorted, the princess makes her way to the patch of herbs, and begins adding them to her collection, before making the arduous trek back down with her prizes.

It is a happy smirk and chipper giggle at @Neytiri's words, shifting cautiously against the rocky path to better face her, "I'll keep it in mind." She would! She liked The Mire, or at least the swampy lands that surrounded it, so perhaps a move might suit her in future.

"Little sister!" she would perk jovially in the wake of @Daneri, striding forward to butt her maned head against the familiar girl - no first without making sure it was the twin she thought. Though, a tumble of rocks reminded her she had a hunt to lead!

The Giraffe was a huge meal for the group, perhaps old and lost from it's group. His time was up, and though the landscape was challenging, with good coordination the cluster of lions took him down.

Such a great creature. It is almost sad to see it fall by their hands. But lions must eat. Dio snatches a bit of the food for herself and, before tearing her teeth away from the main body, she presses her nose into the wound and breathes in deep. Thank you. She says softly. Maua take care of this creature that has provided us this day. She prays and through the breathing in takes , it feels like, part of the animal's soul with her. The end to a hunt.

She will be full, a soul stricken from the mortal plane, and life continuing on as it always did day after day.

A giraffe was their target today, and unsurprisingly it brought along with it many more hunters. They were evidently greedy for the rare meat, or simply wished to steal a piece of the glory in besting such a creature. Regardless, she cared nothing of their goals. Only of their claws and the strength of their bite - she would need it in this enduring hunt.

When they began, she ran as fast as possible, using tactics learned from previous hunts to help her defeat the lanky thing. The chase did not take long, but killing the thing had been the most difficult part. It was cumbersome, and at times she had to physically climb up on it in order to slow it down. Once the prey was killed, she ate and left.

A giraffe. Not just one, but two. The hunting party hadn’t been much different in size from many of the other hunts she’d participated in recently, but the reward was undeniably the best one so far. Though the elephant she’d hunted in the Summit had been a challenge, there had been so many there it had felt easy, like she didn’t have to do much. This time, she was much closer to the action, and felt even more accomplished than she had before. She was practically beaming with excitement, and this time, she was certain there was enough for everyone, and she didn’t hesitate to take a small portion for herself to enjoy before returning home.
