The trip back towards Vermeda had sapped every last ounce of Renfri’s strength. It spite and determination that kept her from collapsing, a desperate need to not let @Aeistrios see her struggle. He had tried labeling her a prisoner of the Plains, but had quickly walked it back, assigning her to assist their former Nobel in establishing his new rule. So that she could pour more of herself into building yet another mans kingdom. The stubborn part of her wanted to be angry still, that Vermeda was not hers, after all she had bled to bring it down, but at the very least she would be free here. Still under the umbrella of Aeistrios’ influence, but no longer under his thumb. What an excellent way to keep up appearances, as well. No one would have to know what had transpired between them. It would not be told by her, and though she suspected he might try to smear her name, she doubted the full truth of their reunion would come from him. Letting out a call for the new king, she sat herself on the border, the Saxe king looming just behind her long enough to give @Lachesis a nod whenever he arrived before making his way back to Lorien. To ensure she didn’t sneak back in the dead of night. As if she was in any shape for more back and forth after the day she’d had. Her mangled, barely hanging on limb was twisted at an unnatural angle. The first time she’d been grateful for the lack of sensation in the leg since it was damaged in the raid. It would need to come off fully, and then the work of retraining her body would really begin. She would not let this break her.pp of Aeist approved by Sava |
He did not expect to see Aeistrios and another who looked rather worse for wear at his borders.
He is quiet for a moment as he looked them over, curious as to what they may have wanted with him. He had yet to unveil his plans for the Brook. Where they displeased? Was it something more? No longer content to sit in silence, the man spoke.
@Aeistrios and...?He had not caught her name in the short time he spent within Lorien.
To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?Surely, they would enlighten him in short order.

Aeistrios did not linger after the arrival of @Lachesis, a small mercy, though it would seem that she had to explain sill who she was to him before she could get accepted and settled in. He had joined not long before the raid and was one of the few she had not had the chance to acquaint herself with. “Renfri Saxe, Aeistrios' wife.” She filled in the gaps quickly. “I served as Lorien's Heiress, but I've been asked me to come here to help you in establishing your new kingdom. To ensure relations between our prides stay as strong as possible, and to show our support for your reign.” Really, he had demanded she go because he didn’t want to be near her anymore, but if he felt it was crucial for that part to be public knowledge she doubted he would have left her here to explain things herself. |
It appeared Aeistrios had better things to do, for he left, though this did not bother the Brook king.
A pleasure to meet you, Renfri Saxe.He said with a bow of his head.
As she told him she served as Lorien's heiress and then divulged her purpose in coming, a wide smile curled his lips upward.
Ah,he began,
Let it be known that I deeply appreciate my allies and I welcome you to the Brook so that you may do what you have come to accomplish.
A pause.
But you have served as Heiress and I see no reason to demote you when you know how to command power. He let his smile grow even wider before he offered her the promotion he felt she deserved.
You will be queen here — or Sovereign as I have heard some say. That should do well in strengthening our alliance, no?
@Renfri

She was relieved when her presence was quickl;y welcomed. It wouldn’t have surprised her if Aeist had sent her here knowing that her arrival might have been seen as an insult of some sort, but perhaps his fear of her was more deeply rooted than he let on, to have handed her over into such favorable circumstances. Despite her weariness, the smile that slid into place as his welcome was warm and genuine. As he continued, her satisfaction grew and she was, admittedly, somewhat surprised at the rank he offered so easily. She had assumed she might have to talk her way into such a title, but her experience spoke for itself. And Aeistrios, as much as she detested him, had proven himself useful as a connection. “I think that would be excellent for our relations. What better way to show we are united in our goals and ambitions?” She agreed easily. Sovereign. Queen. It was a step below where she ultimately wanted to be still, but another small step up from where she came. It was perfect. With the shape she was in as things stood, she would not be able to fend off challenges yet anyways. This couldn’t have been more perfect. “I accept, of course. I look forward to working with you, and building the bonds, but perhaps we can get better acquainted with one another tomorrow? I hate to be rude, but all of my travels today have disturbed my wounds.” She was exhausted, and though she put on a good show of being unbothered, remaining upright took every ounce of her strength. She needed sleep, and a damn good healer.@Lachesis |
I should introduce you to Ygritte as soon as possible. She is our lead healer here and one who chose to remain behind after her former king abandoned her.
He did so love to mention how easily he had waltzed in and taken over. Of course, a proper fight would have been appreciated but then, a victory was a victory and right now, he had another one to claim.
Come, let me show you where your den is.
And with that he began to walk away, though he slowed his pace to keep in time with her.
Exit Lachesis.

She was relieved to hear he already had a Lead Healer, sure that she would be spending quite a bit of time getting to know the woman very soon. The fact that she was a holdover from the previous leadership was intriguing. Had she been as dissatisfied in the previous leadership in the Brook as Wolfgang and Azriel had? Or was she simply more loyal to the land than whoever ruled it? It was a small mystery that she was eager to delve into, but for now, more than anything, she wanted to rest. It was a relief when Lachesis offered to show her to her den, and she happily followed along after him, ready to collapse into sleep the moment she got there. -exit- |
