NATURE’S WRATH

Spring comes in like a lion.

Nature is thriving.

There is a mystery afoot for the fleet of mind to tackle. Some of the freak weather has eroded a section of the badland's walls away and seeming nestled in between layers of stone is something strange. Bones of old, all remnants of some creature long ago dead have emerged to see the light of day for the first time in eons. They are not stone, they are clearly the shape of bones some might recognize. Ribs connecting up to what look like vertebrae, teeth, long femurs caught in the moments of death at some odd angle. Weirdly reptilian shapes skull but far larger than even the Nile Crocodiles that walk the earth.

The hound had taken something of a liking to the wasteland, desolate and unforgiving as it was. After all, this ruination of the earth was to be the eventual fate of all things in this world. Was it truly so terrible, to be able to see the beauty in the destruction? The contrast here only made the nicer things seem that much sweeter. Every wilting patch of flowers, every stubborn blade of grass…this place had doomed them from the start, yet still they persisted, struggling to make the most they could out of their pitiful existence.

Such a sweetly despairing tale.

But even Cerberus can tire of the endless chaos, and so the smoke-wreathed beast would seek shelter from the howling gales amidst the towering ridges of red stone. He cannot escape the wind’s endless whistle, nor the way it tugs at his wavy, tousled locks, but it is an improvement. A moment of reprieve, before he carries on.

But even this place contains more secrets than it seems. He’d just settled himself down to rest, half reclined against the partially crumbling wall at his back when he saw it. The hint of pale ivory poking out from the auburn sediment. Lavender eyes suddenly lit up with rapt interest, as Cerberus leaned closer to take another look.

It is a bone, indeed, an old femur large enough to have belonged to an elephant. But Cerberus has seen elephant bones before, and there is something about the shape of this one that is slightly off. His suspicions are confirmed when he casts his gaze around, sharp eyes suddenly picking out the shapes of other fossils hidden amongst the rocks and dust now that he's looking for them. They're plenty of different shapes, arranged in different conformations. His paws carry him to stand before a massive skull that was distinctly not elephant-like, sharp teeth protruding from elongated jaws.

“My, my…what kind of magnificent beast were you?” He asks the empty air, his expression vaguely wondrous. It's like a monster straight out of myth. He reached out to sweep some dirt away from the bleached jawbone, the ancient creature’s mouth opened in a frozen scream, and he wondered at the creature’s fate. Had it died in the middle of unleashing a terrible roar of rage, an earth-shattering display of fury powerful enough to be forever immortalized in stone? Or had it been a cry of terror, one last outburst of despair before death had claimed it?

Life is a game, are you gonna play now?

The badlands had started to be a land Daenerys wasn't sure if she enjoyed or disliked. The barren aspect of it was displeasureable, but it also served to give her some benefit as well. Her eyes studied the landscape of the area, picking apart some of the debris and landmarks she saw- all up until her eyes landed on something unsettling.

Bones.

Her gaze followed the bones, a creature brought down to their death. No doubt it was large, and Daenerys struggled to imagine what it may of once looked like. Tilting her head, she heard the words of the other whom was studying it, before she hummed lowly. "I worry more about the beast that had to of taken this one down." She states with a click of her tongue, brain trying to wrap around it all.

Here in the badlands, it seemed there was a new mystery afoot. He had stumbled onto some bones that he didn’t recognize in anyway-they were so…. Big and different. He kept following the trail of them… and when he spies a couple others- he speaks. “Must have been a hell of a big beast.” He spoke as he joined them, looking at @Daenerys - a female he surely has seen but didn’t ever acknowledge- and then again at @Cerberus a male he did acknowledge before. He offers them both a nod, and then looks at the bones again. “What do you think?” He asks them, curious to see how their minds may work out this puzzle.

Valaine had found herself wandering the desert once more because being stuck in that absolutely tragic sandstorm wasn't torture enough. She actually rather liked feeling the warm sand beneath her feet, but any slight hint of the wind kicking up more than a simple breeze, and she found herself looking over her shoulder to ensure she wasn't about to get engulfed in another smokey, sand cloud.

She had wandered for a while, only stopping when she saw in the distance that a wall had eroded away to reveal something interesting underneath - interesting enough to attract the attentions of several lions in the surrounding area - her included.

Valaine approached the small group that gathered, letting her eyes search the large, jutting bones from behind the rock wall. They were still rather stuck in there - no hint at coming down - but they were magnificent. "I zink vee shoul't all be happy it's dea't, and leaf' it at zat."

While others of her trade might've been more keen on figuring out what it was and why it was here, Valaine was happy to know it was long dead, and there was no chance of it coming back.

A gust of wind brought sticks to attack and other such debris to entangle within the male's mane. It was rather annoying really but wasn't really much that he could do about it. The sound of voices drew him onwards, the large male curious as to the discussion that was taking place. They were clearly talking about what something was and Ole wanted to know what this something was as well.

When he got there he found a group of lions talking about bones. He took some time to study the bones himself but the look of them told him very little. This left him going in for a taste of a femur. "Is old." French accented voice declared in broken English after a bit of gnawing. "Sad no meat." He said as he looked over the bones once more. "Lots meat." The male sighed wistfully, imagining just how much there must have been to eat once upon a time ago.

“WHHOOOOAAAAA!”

From around the bend, Léonie emerged. She’d been lured in by the sound of chatter, and as she moved in to see what the commotion was over, her attention was quickly snatched away by the remains that were encased in stone and on display. She’d never seen anything like it before, which prompted her to hurry over.

“We don’t have anything like THAT out here,” the shadow remarked aloud as she neared the group. Léonie had lived her entire life as a desert dweller and never before had she encountered a creature such as this. “Wonder how it got stuck,” she hummed too, but more to herself than anything. How exactly did one become trapped in solid rock? It wasn’t like there were rockslides out in the desert, nor much mud. So, how did something so large end up here?

As what seemed the usual, the odd discovery seemed to bring an entire group forth. When another speaks. @Valanie - he nods with an almost amused grin. “Or we could be disappointed to have missed out on such a potential meal. Or tale.” He commented. Another face, this one more familiar- as he’s seen him a lot lately speaks. @Oleander — Eskel still wonders why the male speaks in half sentences, but again, he doesn’t comment on that. Instead he gestures at the male, “See even he notices that it could have been a massive meal.” He said with a grin.

A youngster arrives, and she is clearly enthralled, but Eskel says nothing else to her, and instead watches her antics with amusement. @Léonie

The Badlands had never been somewhere that Hazarin had frequented often. But since the shift in weather that seemed to have calmed the peninsula and its infrequent and unexplained turns down, the Dieudonné thought he would travel a little further today. Quietly, the clay male made it through the badlands, minding his own business, until the voices of others caught his attention. Changing his direction slightly, Hazarin made his way toward the cacophony of voices - that was, of course, when the smaller figure of @Léonie zoomed passed him at a thousand miles an hour.

Petite merde, He mumbles with the shake of his head as he proceeded forward. And as he too turned the corner, he spotted the young girl surrounding herself with the others that appeared to be inspecting something. The figures of @Oleander, @Valaine, @Eskel, @Daenerys and @Cerberus all seem vaguely familiar (Oleander more so, since he is family) and eventually the male pushes his way forward. I suspect it'll have died in the sea, and then over the hundreds of years it's been dead for, it'll have been sealed in this rock. Hazarin explains, looking to Léonie who seemed the most curious about it.

Oleander glanced towards the brown coasted lion when he was spoken about. Yes, that certainly would have been a nice meal. Could have fed the entire pride for at least a month. But sadly that would not be so... Or would it?

"Noth one?" Ole asked and glanced around to see if maybe some other massive beast might be hiding somewhere. The clay pelt male moved forwards to check beyond the corroded rock wall. Certainly if the wall could have hidden the bones of this one then maybe it could be hiding a live one as well.

Ole's attention flitted from his search at Hazarin's voice. "Il n'y a pas de mer ici. Seulement beaucoup de rien ici. Et des rochers. Rien et des rochers." Oleander called back to Hazarin in French. He knew the other would understand him even if the rest that gathered wouldn't. His French proved that Oleander actually wasn't as simple minded as he came across and could actually speak in full sentences. Granted those full sentences were all in French. Vermier had been a big advocate of French. English, not so much.
