Eyes would frequently adjust to the dark, made to do it all over again whenever a bright flash of lightning all but blinded him. A picture of a bright daylit land taken for a fleeting moment before he was cast back into darkness with a thunderous boom. Was it wise to hunt in the middle of the night while hounded by lightning and spitting rain? He supposed there were better times for one, but then again perhaps this setting was ideal when the world was being ripped asunder by fires and tornados elsewhere.

At the base of the waterfall, following the river, he was aware of other animals, come for water not tainted or frozen over by unusual weather events. While he was not hungry himself, he thought to bring something back to the pride. The cove was struggling with food of late, having only secured a few hogs for the whole of the pride. He could not ask them for aid out here though, he would instead send a summons for anyone in the vicinity, imagining he might see some repeat faces from other hunts, hungry for another challenge, another meal.

Wandering the borders of Vermeda Brook over and over again was both daunting and lifegiving. Gareth could not risk anything happening to Vermeda during the midst of this chaos that had begun. The weather was not forgiving and the last thing he needed was the latest children of the Brook to find themselves in a dangerous situation. They had lost a child due to a rogue coming into the pride and he wished to be a bit more cautious and careful so as to avoid that now.

Back and forth did he patrol, mostly keeping a watch on the southern border and keeping an eye on the deep snow banks for any signs of tracks that hadn't been there prior. The only one's he had seen so far had had the accompaniment of a Vermedan lion so it wasn't all that surprising nor anything to raise the alarm. Eventually, he found himself a little starved from all the back and forth and began to slip south. Each second that passed his gait grew quicker and the snow began to get thinner until there was no more.

Brisk running as he could feel his heart gallop in his chest like a wild horse upon the plains. His over-abundance of hair flying away from his face for once as his whole body cascaded across the open lands but as soon as he got close to the Peaks, he could hear the rough and tumble of rocks falling from its majestic heights. A loud boom in the distance as his pace finally slowed and his gaze was cast to the angry sky. There were no lightning strikes but the expression cannon of thunder was ever present and was not letting up.

Ears flashed forward in his wild tuft of mane as someone called for help. A hunt? Perfect. A nice distraction from the weather that made his skin crawl like ants upon a tree's bark. Once there was a small break in the cracks in the sky he made his way towards @Fissure and lowered his head politely. Hello, and hoped that it was clear that he was here to assist in whatever the male had found and decided to hunt.

1 year, Ranger level 2(+1 to hunt rolls) Caillen walks, Caillen wanders among the tall peaks, mountains she had never seen nor visited before. A nice change in the scenario she was used to. From the swamps she now could see mountains, rocky terrain and string winds. Winds that with how the world was right now we're charged with rain, heavy rain with rumbling thunder over her head. She closed her eyes from time to time, blocking the water that threatened with hitting her cyan eyes. As she goes, she spots two lions, men who seemed to be into hunting under these tempestuous moments. She said nothing, only approaching to help them out should they want her help. Ears like a lynx's perks up while she sniff the ground, wondering what they could hunt in this day. With this rain she guessed not many prey opportunities could be on their disposal but they had to try still. 4 years old, +1 to hit rolls (level 1 ranger- submaster trade)

Hunting at night amid all of this insane weather, wasn’t something that he thought was particularly intelligent. However, Eskel wasn’t particularly known for being intelligent when it came to hunting. He loved the challenge- lived for it. He watches as the lightning illuminates the sky above him and subsequently the lands around him as he comes closer to a mountain and a large water-fall.

He wonders, based on the scents of many other animals, if the animals had been driven here for fresh water- not tainted by the storms, and other ailments that nature had been throwing the land lately. He didn’t particularly care… why they were here, only that in the dark of night with lightning as his only occasional light source.

A chuff sounds from another and the thought of a hunt shoots a thrill through his body, and so he turns towards the hunt to join the caller. As he drew nearer, he nodded to those gathered- and grinned. “This should be quite a challenge.”

5 years old, No Perks

There is a hunger in his stomach unlike any other, and it cannot be ignored no matter how harsh the weather would become. He is unphased by the crackle of lightning overhead, or the whipping of winds that carry their worries far from the weight of the world. The pride was struggling to keep a cache heavy and fluid, for the entire toll of each waning rumble of the Earth's surface and the crackling of deathly fire kept their herds away in ten-folds. He wonders when the last time they had been successful within in stashing foods, wonders when it will come to the day that they may all have to turn on one another without thinking about their brother. In-fact, he silently dreads such a thing to happen, to relive a horror that has made him into the monster that he is today. So - when the call of food rings amongst the hilltops, and through the tree's he does not hesitate to gather amongst their factions. Magenta gaze shifting tightly to meet each face upon the corridors of death and life. He mumbles out a silent question for all to be acknowledged, even the larger brute he had quarreled with in the scorched forests. Do you think anything will come?

It may have seemed strange to be wandering out and about on such a dark and stormy night, but could you honestly expect anyone to be able to get a decent night's sleep when thunder and lightning shook the earth every five minutes? Once Adrien had been jolted awake by a thunderclap, she hadn't been able to fall back to sleep, and then she'd started to get restless, bored, and hungry.

There was no escaping the rain anyway, she was beginning to accept that, so she might as well do some exploring and try to find something to eat. The dark silhouette of the mountains, framed every so often by brilliant flashes of light, seemed to beckon her forwards, more unfamiliar territory for her to scout out.

A nearby chuff captures her attention, barely heard over the constant drum of heavy raindrops. It seemed that the solution to her 'find something to eat' plan had found her first, and so naturally she followed the summons to a lovely waterfall near the mountain's base. How lucky! She doesn't know if she would have discovered these falls on her own. How beautiful would these falls look on a clear day, she wondered?

She draws alongside a large, rough-looking male, (@Vághan) close enough to catch his mumbled words upon her arrival. "With these storms lately, I imagine plenty of animals are likely to seek shelter around a water source like this one." She whispered her thoughts aloud in answer to his question, her gaze flitting between the faces already gathered here. She certainly hoped that this would be worth the effort and the soaked pelt, at least.

the pourin' rain weren't very pleasant, but here he is regardless. tired and soaked to the bone, he's all but grumblin' when he catches scent of the others through the storm -- 'nother hunt, it seems, at seemingly the worst possible moment. the storms ( rain and all ) had been hard on the land, with the rivers jumpin' their banks and floodin' over easily. it made everythin' that much more difficult, but a hunt was a hunt.

and he weren't 'bout to pass up an opportunity for some grub.

an ear flicks at @Eskel's quip and he grins, wolf-sharp. ain't gonna be trouble, handsome, he says, grinnin' ear to ear. weren't like there was a tornado in the area or nothin'. well.... that he could see, at least. the storm made it hard to confirm, but he's pretty sure they'll be alright. it'll be hard for whatever they're sneakin' up on to see 'em, but at the same time, it will be a challenge to tell where the hell they're goin' in the first place. attention turns to @ariden then at her words and he gives a small nod; and we'll be waitin' for 'em. he drawls, as if confirmin' her words. even if nothin' does show, at least it'd be fun, right? straightenin' up, doe settles in -- ready to pounce where the others lead.

Why was Ghyslaine out here in the pouring rain and rather dramatic storm that randomly seemed to illuminate the sky? She wasn’t sure- she had been restless, and so she’d been exploring… and then she had found herself at the mountain- and she had just kept on exploring following paths that she could see when the lightning struck above.

When she heard the call for a hunt, she found her paws pulling her in that direction as she studied the sky. She could see other animals here- knew prey was nearby and she wondered if they had been driven here in search of clean water and the relative safety that the mountain could provide- provided there wasn’t a rockslide- that is.

As she approached the group, she noted @Caillen and came to stand by her pride-mates side with a gentle bump of her shoulder into the girls- if she would allow the contact- then she would wait to see what their hunt leader… decided to go after.

Age 2 - lvl 2 pathfinder - +1 hunt dice

Asylum was not really accustomed to this particular territory, though she did tend to favor the mountains and places of cooler temperatures. A nice hike was always a welcomed distraction for her as well. She was here now, but she didn't imagine it would be wise to scale the mountains in the middle of a storm, heavy with rain and deafening thunder.

Instead, she would follow the washed-out trail of a herd, imagining they had sought places of refuge during the storm. She imagined it must be difficult for large creatures to fit in caves or dens, left to stand around in the rain all night.

Instead of a herd, she found herself in the presence of a gathering of lions, all ready to go on a hunt. She was surprised any would want to try in the dark, winds pulling their scents in every direction, rains making it difficult to track. She was in though, she had nothing better to do with her time.
