The hunt would go well, though given the surprising number of lions present for it, perhaps it would have been better if they had downed something larger, even an elephant was possible with this many lions present. Still, two large hogs were enough to fill all their bellies, and it seemed that was really all they had time for anyway.

Once he was finished, Fissure would allow the rain to wash away some of the lingering blood from his fur while observing the others, feeling quite pleased with himself for their success. Eventually, the rain became too much for him to deal with though, and without a word, he would turn and depart the group.

He regards the statements of the strawberry babe that seems to saunter upon his sides like a ghost, a petrichor creation of silent martyrs and soothing words. Vághan does not offer her anything more than a nod of understanding - the herds had been very scarce. Yet - he did not know that the lands were dry and stark. That there was little water in lieu of the wake of mother natures wrath, and how she had swallowed it whole. It makes sense that the only water source that becomes abundant in their lands would be consolation to even those that were struggling to thrive. Still, it does not excuse the appearance of death amongst their door and even though the hunt goes well - greatly successful even. Vághan cannot help but desire something more than the flesh of the sickly pig that lay before them, instead - he takes what he can. Severing his portion of meat from the animal before regarding those present with a silent chuff in departure. It would appear that despite his friendly greeting to @Fissure that the other male was far too invested into the hunt to have heard him or acknowledged him. Gareth supposed he understood that there were those that were determined and had a one track mind so he shrugged it off with ease. It was a hunt after all and they were going to have to lend their focuses either way.

So Gareth took to chasing one of the forest hogs in a myriad of different directions. The two split apart almost instantly making it a lot easier to separate into groups at the drop of a hat. Gareth chasing after the larger one that perhaps couldn't run as fast and it was easier for such a large, lumbering figure such as himself to chase. Shoulders rolled and legs spread wide in front of him as he galloped until he went for a lunge and managed to pin one beneath him and it only took a blink of an eye to sink his teeth into its throat and end it. A few last quivers of its feet as its last song.

Only as the others gathered and took, did Gareth take a sizeable chunk of one of their legs and feeling a little disgusted at the sickening squelch that came with it. While it smelled nice and would taste great, the sound he could never quite get over. So Gareth wandered back to Vermeda where he set his newfound food aside within the cache for others to wander upon before beginning his continued stroll around the Brook's edges. A part of him wondering if any had chosen to follow him from the Falls in an effort to grab the large piece of meal that he had taken. Gareth had shown no signs of remorse as he took what he could, but given the weather he had no choice but to be a little greedy.

There were plenty of fresh tracks across the borders as his pride mates had come and go as per usual. A few scents he recognized but none of them smelled of anything less than usual. The snow seemed to keep all of the footprints much easier but it was the gentle snowfall that eased him into a soft lull. Giving him the strength to move forward as he was built for colder weather and could wander the outside world without needing to get warm after such a small amount of time. exit gareth.

Asylum would do her part to assist, and while lacking in brute strength needed for taking down prey, she had the agility to catch and slow one down for a time. Their target prey was one of her favored ones, who didn't enjoy some pork? In her time alone she often dispatched them by herself, but only the younger adolesents or those already weakened with age.

With a pair of them taken down, Asylum would quietly wait for the others to begin taking their share before she would do likewise. As she did not intend to eat her share in front of everyone, she would remove a large piece for herself before venturing off.

It doesn’t take terribly long for them to find their quarry, a pair of hogs no doubt shaken by the overwhelming noise of the thunderstorm, unable to realize they were being hunted until it was too late. Adrien handles her part well enough, giving chase and herding their prey into the claws and fangs of some of the stronger lions. Brute strength isn’t her forte, but when it comes to speed she can manage just fine, her long legs capable of covering a lot ground rapidly.

The rain continued on in its relentless downpour, dampening Adrien’s mood enough that she didn’t quite feel like lingering around to chat. She would gather her own share of the meat in an efficient manner, before retreating to find a more sheltered place to enjoy her meal. “Good luck staying dry!” She called back to whoever still remained, a complaint about the weather as much as it was a concerned farewell. Hopefully, the perpetual damp wouldn’t result in anyone falling ill.

She was both not expecting to find something for the group to go after, and both expecting that maybe luck would be on their side. So when the fresh scent of hog. As the group split and took off after it, she joined them- enjoying the thrill of adrenaline within her veins at the chance to do something. She had felt helpless as the world around them seemed to fall apart… but at least with hunting she could do something.

It took very little time for them to take it down, and she enjoyed the sense of camaraderie and triumph. She would wait patiently to take her own piece of the kill, before she would begin heading back towards home.

the rain makes everythin' a little too slippy for his taste. it's a fight to stay upright, let alone go tearin' off after the prey they're huntin'. it's a fine then, though, that there's so many of them -- it makes it easier and ultimately, they're victorious for it. a litlte whoop! leaves his throat, grinnin' through the peltin' rain. he looks a little ( well, a lot! ) like a drowned rat but he crows nonetheless, satisfaction boilin' in his veins. a good hunt always got the blood pumpin', and now they'd get to enjoy the spoils of their victory. he lingers around just long enough to take his fill then heads out, intent on findin' someplace with a little less rain.

Eskel loved hunting, almost more than he enjoyed spying. Actually, more than he enjoyed spying- he was just damn good at gathering information. He had long since just picked up hunting as more of a side-gig for him. So joining these other lions and lionesses for this hunt here in the storm.

Somehow, they succeeded, and despite the wild weather they brought a hog down to it’s knees and killed it. When he had a chance he would take his share, before stepping back from the group with a nod to those who had acknowledged him. Then, he would take his leave.
