His intent has nothing to do with greed. Elías cares little about positions of power for himself; he simply focuses on the things that will best benefit the Cove and the Sigrún. And just now, that means something more than being a mere face in the crowd. He prowls towards the relative center of the prideland, weaving through the trees with his skull slung low until he's well within sight of the shoreline, the waves crashing in his ears.

There he waits, chuffing against the early morning air for whoever sees fit to rise to the challenge. If it means fighting Úlla, then so be it, but he'd like to see some ambition from her followers. Their quiet unsettles him.

she's not surprised to hear the roar of one of her own - @élias to be exact - calling for a challenge to the noble rank. it's been a while since he and the other three have joined the cove. even longer still for the ranks to be empty and unchallenged. úlla ponders whether if the ones currently under her throne are too unambitious to take it. her cousin proves her wrong. she's the first to reach the area where élias makes his battle ground. the sea is still, the winds are gentle, and the sands are giving and warm. yet still, the mist recedes and thickens as it pleases, but it never seems to have touched the cove as it did with the other lands. both blessing and curiosity; perhaps vellen chased the most of it away. and despite his voice beckoning for her to answer the man's call, úlla decides to wait and see if someone else will answer him. for now, the fight will not be hers.

She had been wondering when this call would come. She expected no less from her husband to try and put himself into a position where he would be able to most benefit both the pride and the family. She considered for a moment letting someone more established in the pride answer the call, but then decided against it at she approached the place Elias had chosen to stake his claim at. @Úlla was already there, looking on silently. Revna had yet to decide how she felt about the high sovereign, family or not, but she nodded her head once to the ruler respectfully before taking up a spot across from Elias.

"Við skulum sjá hvað þú hefur, eiginmaður," (Let's see what you've got, husband) she offered with a smirk, her eyes dancing with a mix of excitement and anticipation. Her tail lashed behind her; she was excited for the chance to test her husband in this new land. She wouldn't be holding back.

With a sudden burst of speed, she launched herself across the sands at her husband, head on. She attempted to meet him chest-to-chest and wrap her paws around his neck in the head-on attack. He would see it coming, but she wanted to see what he would do to get away from it. Her jaws were opened wide, her teeth searching for the flesh around his neck in the hopes that she would hit him if she managed to entrap him in her bear hug.

What was this?

At the sound of her husband's call ( his demand ), she is pulled forward -- curious and nosy in equal measure. The sands of the cove are quiet and she assumes it to be holdover of the sigrun stoicism, but maybe there's more to this story. There was another familial pride, right? Maybe this was the smaller, quieter of the two -- the one where everyone kept to their own business.

Unfortunately for caladan, eira was here now, and that would change.

She sounds forward in time to see @Revna meets @Elías with a fury and the lilac woman GASPS to see it. It's not that violence is an unexpected part of her life ( at least, not anymore!) but rather she is disappointed bc she didn't get to wish either of them luck before they started! A dramatic little huff falls from her lips as she settles in on the sidelines -- shooting a smile to the sovereign as she does -- before her attention is stolen by her sparring spouses.

When they were done, no matter who won, they were getting a smooch!

It comes as no surprise that Úlla is the first one to cross the sands towards him, though he doesn't expect her immediate engagement. Their gazes meet, and no words are needed to state their intent; the goal is to see which of her subjects are ambitious enough to answer, which ones will fight for their home.

In the end, none of them show, however. It is instead @Revna who joins them on the beach, her eyes alight with a playful fire. It irks him that his cousin seems to have obtained herself no loyalty, but he lets that go for now, his focus falling entirely onto his wife. This will hardly be the first time they've scrapped, and he appreciates her vigor every time; Revna's ambition is part of what he likes loves so much about her.

He matches her smirk with a knowing simper of his own, his chin tilting down as her darker form shoots across the sands towards him. Elías lurches forward to meet her at the last moment, stepping into her attack — welcoming it — with an attempt to catch her higher than she intended, trying to tilt her fulcrum of balance backwards. Her claws hook around the back of his neck, and with any luck, she'll have to use that grip just to keep herself upright. Her teeth connect in the right side of his neck, perpetuating a low growl from the Sigrún, who attempts to offer her a similarly loving kiss on the side of her neck behind her right ear.

Úlla did not remain the sole spectator of their battle for prominence. Revna could not miss the approach of their wife, @Dhaveira, but she didn't have time to acknowledge her before she and Elías collided. She didn't miss Eira's gasp, however, and smirked to herself, knowing it was not the fighting that drew such a reaction from their beautiful wife, but the inconvenience of not being able to see them off to it first. Eira was their balance. She herself was ambitious and fierce. Elías was controlling, strict, and arrogant. Eira was, in Revna's opinion, freedom. More than that, she was the one who kept smiles on their faces. Her adoration of the other woman was limitless.

She was distracted just slightly, so when their bodies collided with a resounding thud she was very nearly thrown off balance, and rather than having her paws around her husband's shoulders, she ended up with them around his neck, higher than intended. Her claws dug into his flesh, desperate to hold on to what little balance she hadn't yet lost, and just managed to keep herself from moving backwards. At the very least she felt her teeth connect with the skin of his neck and she bit down, not going easy on him because he was her husband. Her bite had all the strength that it would have if he were an enemy she were facing. If he wanted this rank he was going to have to earn it. He growled at the bite and a low chuckle rumbled through her own chest in response.

She isn't in position to dodge his bite and she felt his teeth sink into the flesh of her neck, just behind her ear. She snarled - it was more sensitive there than where she had managed to bite him - and tensed her hind legs, regaining her balance and pushing on his neck with all of the strength she had. Elías was only a little heavier than her. She hoped to unbalance him in return, using the strength of her front legs to push his body to one side, perhaps even dragging him down into the dirt. Meanwhile, she kept her claws hooked into his skin, threatening to tear at it if he did not find a way out of her grip.

He would have it no other way. Elías is only too happy to pay in blood for everything he has earned — he pays the iron price. If they went easy on one another, it would only leave them ill-prepared for when the enemy comes, and they are not fool enough to believe that their enemies aren't looking over their shoulders at every opportunity.

It's thrilling — the bite of teeth and the sting of claws, the blood trickling down the back of his neck. These are the things that make him feel alive, and he doesn't balk from it. @Revna leans to the side, pulling his neck around to the right, but his balance is not so easily surrendered with all his legs planted solidly in the sand.

He somewhat moves willingly with her, but seeks to add a downward pressure with the grip of his jaws; his left forepaw swings up, attempting to slam the broad side of his paw against the right side of her ribcage, claws unsheathed. His hope is to shove her with a rapid force, trying to topple Revna into the ground beneath him.

At first Elías didn't give under the pressure of her weight on his neck trying to drag him down, but then she felt him start to give way, as if her tactic was working. Triumph already singing in her veins, she put more force into the push, only to find that it had all been a lie. She growled, angry that he had begun to move with her, only to free up one of his front paws and attack her unprotected side. Thankfully, the positioning for the strike was terrible - she was higher up than planned in her original attack so hitting her ribcage true was more difficult. But she felt his paw slam into her low, at the bottom of her ribcage, and his claws rake the flesh there as the momentum carried it back down, leaving a shallow gash on her side, near her stomach.

Her position on his shoulders left her unable to mount any other attacks on his person, so she did what she didn't really want to do and let go so her paws slid down to the ground, claws still out - maybe scratching more of his neck on the way - until she was all four feet on the ground again. Separating from him, she even let go of his neck, ending her kiss to his flesh there. She didn't give him time to enjoy the weight off of his shoulders, though.

She offered him a smile, her eyes gleaming hungrily as she enjoyed their spar. Quick as a flash, however, she lifted her right paw and aimed a smack at his face, claws sheathed this time around (didn't want to damage his pretty face too much. she liked the way it looked.) If it hit, she hoped it would send his head to the side and cause him to strain a few muscles. A last parting gift before their short challenge was over.

He can sense her frustration, feel in the growl that cuts the air between them — what's wrong, dear? He isn't above fighting dirty, even when it comes to his darling wife. His strike lands hard against her, and it's enough to make @Revna back off, if only for a moment, to keep herself upright.

Elías offers a thin smirk, using his still-lifted forepaw to try and sling it across her withers and pull her in, claws trying to hook behind her shoulder blades — lovingly, of course. Around the same time, Revna's paw smacks forcefully against his left cheek, prompting a low grunt from the larger of the pair; rude to use his blind side to her advantage, but also tactical, smart. A reminder that he could use every now and again.
