if that sad call from the wildebeest was meant to be daunting, cassine would kindly request that they try again. for it was only recently that they had thwarted off the presence of a real threat from the bluffs, cleansing it of would-be usurpers and arrogant brats in the process. it was for this reason that the dieudonne’s body tensed as she neared the awaiting shape of the prey, eyes narrowed into dangerous slits whilst unsheathed claws hooked into the rocky terrain below, prepared absently for what was to come.

come to think of it, cassine was rather hungry, which meant that the brazen creature had arrived just in time for lunch. and though she was not bold enough to delve in just yet, the parisian would take pause upon the edge of the outcrop, ears flickering atop her crown in the hopes of catching the sound of other approaching footfalls.

She is returning from her daily habit of calculated wandering when she catches the smell of the creature, a vague musk he has left upon the loam of which he once trod. The hard earth tells little of tracks, but it is the bull's call that truly reveals his where-about. Belly-low the woman stalks, cautiously, paws rolling in a way that maintains silence - she ducks from boulder to boulder, carefully approaching the base of Wolfbron with quiet eagerness. The Pride was always hungry. Today, she is not first upon the scene, a red woman visible higher up the mountain-sides - her keen gaze also locked upon their target. _code

Hunting wasn't his thing. He didn't care enough to expend effort on prey larger than could feed himself, but he supposed it came with the title. Amara expected him to participate, he was sure, and so he forced himself to make an appearance and was surprised to find Cassine among the .. two .. that were gathered. His brow furrowed as he silently questioned her on her absence, but otherwise said nothing as he fell into place alongside Charax. Were they besties? No. Had he spoken to her once and that was enough for him? Absolutely. Besides, he doubted she cared.

Five Years, No bonus

The Dieudonné noble was curious enough to investigate the prey's call. It sounded like a lunch bell across the red-rock landscape, and he strode with a dance-like step towards it's bellow. These beasts were quite mindless, a downgrade to what his typical diet consisted of, but they were meat nonetheless. Plus, Apollinaire never missed the chance of a social gathering.

After all, life would be awfully dull without the presence of his dear family and newly found comrades, wouldn't it? Waltzing in on the gathered, he gave a curt nod to all three of them. The marbled woman's presence was noted a mile away and while he felt peckish for the buffalo, his hunger for Charax was far more overbearing.

Truly unfortunate it is for wandering animals to wind up here. A lone wildebeest, sizeable but only mildly dangerous without its' herd to defend it, comes a'callin' and the lions are quick to answer. By the time Ursula, deaf thing she is, catches wind of what's afoot, there are a few others already gathered. From her position, lower on the cliffs than Cassine but higher up than the group around Charax, the Bezra can see clearly the quarry they've all found. Having tracked it all this way, she figures she'll stick around to see if anyone makes a proper go for it. Together they can down it quickly, easily. It would be more difficult alone, and she's nothing if not lazy. If none step forward, she might just go for it alone. Might, but probably not.

The hunt was quick, bloody - as it should be. His bones ached for a different type of hunt, though, and while this creature will satiate the normal palate, his exquisite palate would be far more difficult to satiate. The rush of adrenaline after the chase was welcomed, though, and his muscles were grateful for the little bit of exercise. After they stole the prey's last breath, Apollinaire joined dragging the creature back to the pride caches. That's what the proper thing to do was, right? Still, he wasn't very used to the culture of this land, but he plays by their rules nonetheless.

her eyes flickered to the bodies of her pride-mates as they filtered in, each just as hungry as the next to find success and fill their bellies with this hunt. she could not help, however, but to have her eyes pause on xerxes when he arrived — unspoken words were hot upon her tongue, given that her absence had undoubtedly been noticed and had lasted far too long. she felt like a hypocrite having removed herself from her family, albeit temporary, but now was not the time nor the place for the depths of such emotions.

instead, her attention would turn back onto the task at hand, body surging alongside that of the hunting party as they leapt forward in pursuit of the prey. much to her relief, they managed to wrangle the animal to the earth without too much of a hassle, meaning that the pride would be well-fed, at least for the next little while. nodding her crown stiffly in a gesture of satisfaction, the parisian was quick to run her tongue across the edges of her blood-stained lips, before doing her part in returning the beast to the cache. exit.

Impatience has no chance to build in the brown lioness. It never has with this lot, and it's one thing she enjoys so much about them. Cassine leads their chase, the bold clay of her pelt complementary to the rust and red cliffs. The Bezra among them eagerly follows, skittering down her perch to join in the pursuit of the top-heavy antelope. Those gathered give chase as well, and as one the lion's hunting party downs their quarry, efficiently and effectively. As always, it's a thrill for the huntress, and she stands off to the side just slightly, catching her breath. Once everyone seemed situated to assist, Ursula does her best to help them move the carcass to the cache. This won't feed all of the pride, now with their swelling numbers, but at least for now all of the youngest can be fed.
