Better late than never, right?

Something in Keir caused for him to take his time in getting to the challenge. Perhaps it was the two of his own that he hadn’t won that made him not want to see the end result between @Jafar and this other lion. And for several minutes did he ponder even showing up at all. But with being the Mire’s Heir he knew that he needed to make an appearance, to show his support to his leader, so with a grunt would he emerge from his den and make his way toward the sounds of battle.

As he arrived would blue eyes take in the faces that had been drawn to the challenge. It would have been unusual if there hadn’t been many here to witness a possible change in leadership through bloodshed. Gaze would stop upon mother, watching as she and @Ransom exchanged a rather intimate touch, causing for a brow to rise and the question of why they were acting such a way to stir within his mind. After a moment would he focus then on the fight at hand, stopping once he were in eyesight but not too close to others.

The arrival of @Úlla draws his attention for a moment, and Elías makes his way through the brush to join her, halting at his cousin's free side and sweeping his muzzle up over her spine for a moment so that his singular eye can take stock of @Voluspa beside her. He's not an idiot, and she bears all the symptoms of being one of Magnus's brood, cloaked in a myriad of shadows. A low hmm rumbles in the back of his throat before his skull swings back into a neutral position, returning his gaze to the warriors.

"Þekkir þú þau?" ( do you know them? ) he queries lowly to his cousin, his inside ear swiveling towards her whilst the other is acutely aware of the sounds around him. Do we care who wins?

They might call him stubborn; Alaric preferred determined. He would fight again and again for the crown he wanted -- for the safety and security of his bloodline. Where he was from if you did not have a crown your children were fair game. While it might be different here, old habits died hard, and he would not see his children murdered at the teeth of a King. Or, he thought wryly, a Jarl.

His teeth sunk in to the man's shoulder and he clenched them, attempting to worsen the damage with a shake of his head as if he were a dog worrying a bone. Focused as he were he could not (would not?) avoid the teeth that grabbed between his shoulders -- the thin skin there tears and bleeds and he knew immediately it would be a bother with every step he took.

Lashing out instinctively his right paw rose from the ground, claws unsheathed and attempting to hook behind Jafar's left ankle, a move that mirrored the one he had taken early. Alaric would try to hook around the leg and jerk it towards him, timing the movement with another shove of his shoulder as he tried to fell the king.

The moment the call rang out, Roan's blood was boiling. That same fucking bastard was challenging for a pride again? Considering the last time that this prick tried to take a pride, a death match had occurred as well, the Hodari gave a call for his own pridemates to come with him as he raced off in the direction of the Mire. @Maia's own call for her allies was heard along the way, only further aiding his need to be there for his cousin. By the time he arrived, the fight was already well underway as the masked man crossed the pride's borders without a second thought. He bee-lined it for his cousin, aiming to arrive at her side if an ear was still free. "Bastard," the Sovereign spat as he watched the fight. It looked really close. "Whatever happens, Maia, you have me. You have all of Obsidian," he muttered wholeheartedly, mostly intended for his cousin, but not caring if anyone else around them was listening. Had this been any other challenger, the Hodari might have managed to pay any sort of attention to those gathered on the Ecrosia side of the fight, but this was the same Andal lion that tried to take Obsidian. Here he was just a couple months later already challenging again. Roan could hardly take his eyes off the fight, practically holding his breath to see the outcome.

@Roan called, Hiccup followed. The cherry-coated yearling shadowed his Sovereign, concern in his expression as they raced across the kingdom. A familiar voice had summoned them — Hiccup remembered it all too well. It was the same male who had challenged Roan, and he had chosen his next target: the Mire.

The young male maintained pace with his leader when they arrived on the Mire border, which Roan crossed without hesitation. He found a lioness — Maia, he heard him say — and offered her the Hollow, should she need it — should any of them need it. Hiccup moved in beside Roan and frowned, his attention grabbed by the fight. Specifically, he focused on Alaric, trying to gauge his condition. Was he losing? “He’s not going to stop, is he?” he sighed and turned his ears back on his head. Hiccup didn’t understand why the challenger felt he needed to take over a pride, but if he lost again, he doubted it would be the last they saw of him …

This was indeed a test of her new lead scout. Amara heard the call for the Mire. Something that had happened many times before. She figured she still knew the leader there and didn't hate him, that was a start. She waited what seemed like a fair timeframe for @Charax to head out before going herself. She would see how this would really work out for her. She wanted to stay on top of the changes around the island but she also wanted to avoid crowds if possible. Amara made her way through the muck until she found the challenge and her gaze looked around as familiar faces and strangers until she found Charax. Good. Amara caught sight of @Roan but didn't move toward him right way, deciding to walk along the edge of things and see how it all turned out.

Hearing his sister's call was enough to bring him down to the lower levels of the island and move into the jungle and then toward the Mire. He caught Roan's scent as he went and was glad that family would be there. He didn't really know where he was going, having never been here before but still, he wasn't about to leave his family alone. He arrived at a large gathering of strangers and it took some time for him to spot @Maia and @Roan among all those gathered. He made his way toward them before coming to stand next to Maia. He didn't know which lion was which but it wouldn't matter. He would follow their lead in whatever was needed. I am here for you. He spoke to her. After their first meeting going so badly, he hoped that they would find a way forward and this could be that.

asteria was equal parts nervous and determined. a part of her was cautious of the world, now -- a far cry from the outgoing adventurer she had been before -- but she was a stubborn girl, and she knew she could regain that spark. it burned in her belly, reminding her of her strengths, of who she really was. a Zero, a warrior... a flame.

this drive powered her forward, trailing after her best friend. it was this ember that flared to life and kept her features carefully schooled as she sat down beside him, an ear flicking his way to listen to the conversation. his words made her look more closely at the wheat-coated challenger and there was the faintest flicker of recognition as she studied him. the one who had challenged roan, perhaps?

that day was a blur -- and she hated to think of it even now -- but she sensed that this was the man that had tried for the hollow. and now for the mire. interesting

Though he did not quite care whether Alaric won this pride, Odhgrimm is a curious creature. When the challenge rises, not unexpected, he turns lackadaisically toward it and begins to move in. Winning a pride wouldn't earn much favor with the Assassin. He isn't Eulalia, isn't easily swayed by grandiose gestures and ascensions to power. Jarl isn't a title that the grey has coveted, and neither will Sovereign be. His clan is all he ever need lead, and, under his direction, it is his hope that their numbers will soon swell. The Rike needed no outsiders to make that happen. If Erna's little toy manages to secure leadership and then brings soldiers and slaves to Odhgrimm's feet. Well, the grey has been known to change his mind.

Anidar has been a favored haunt since his arrival. Weaving between the boughs is relaxing, and the plush foliage draws his eyes everywhere. They're more focused today, all but ignorant to the herbs' existence while he passes them. Slung low is his neck, shoulders bunched as he half-crouches once the marsh begins to take over the landscape. At his rear, the plume of his tail works with practiced ease to disrupt the pattern of his many-toed paws. It's more difficult here, where mud sucks the print off of every one of his pads. Having such a distinct footprint would be dangerous here. Easing through the more shallow waters, doubling back when it's too deep, he navigates slowly, taking his time.

Just as he'd been invisible at the Jungle's leadership match, so too would he be here. No carcass for distraction this time, though. It's all in the undertone of Celosia's flowers (again) and the mud he seems to naturally attract. Odhgrimm has been in it up to his armpits, and he's not sure how to feel about that. A bit uncomfortable but not unbearable (yet?), and the deep scent of earth is all that surrounds him. Using both the fog and foliage to his advantage, he remains on the outskirts of the gathered, peering out with narrowed eyes, ears swept back with his mane. They're nearly finished, he can tell, and as he awaits the conclusion, he does as he always has. Glances around at the crowd, searching for information.

Odhgrimm is hidden.

Initially when she had heard all of the commotion a part of her had panicked. It brought back memories from her homeland and so the deep melanistic lioness had hid deep within the recesses of her den. But as many different scents began to accumulate within the Mire she drug herself outward, throwing her satchel over her shoulder she would make her way through the deeper portions of muck and grime before sneaking her way towards the gathering. Her suspicions had been correct, it was another challenge, but this time for Jafar's crown. Her ears plastered themselves against her finely chiseled skull; she didn't like any of this. The woman moved to position herself away from prying eyes but still close enough to observe. For now she would remain hidden on the outskirts of the gathering, watching intently in case she should be needed further.
