While she was out scavenging for some herbs and plants to take back home, she had seen @Calypso just off in the distance beginning her figh. A stop to her movements as she watched the woman disappear towards the center of Amaryllis, forcing Madelina to begin a slow jaunt after her. Wondering what was going on for the further that she got away from Firnen, the more scents she began to pick up. Beginning to see many -- many -- other lions here and they all seemed rather eager and talking about fighting. Madelina felt her insides crawl, if only for the fact that they only fight that she'd ever witnessed was one that had intended to claim her as well as the one where a male had taken over Wolfbron. She hadn't seen Lexa fight the male for her, but she knew the wounds that had been inflicted. Memorized them, so Madelina sunk into the gathering with a few herbs that she dropped at her feet. Worry set in for those that would get hurt, but she was also interested in seeing a fight first-hand. Once the women began to fight was when her worries began to set in as tried to keep her eyes on everything all at once. Watching the punches thrown and taking deep breaths, hoping that she wouldn't have to patching up anything serious afterwards.

Not being a fighter in the slightest, his only role here in this tournament would be that of watching, of learning and perhaps later in life tell stories about what he would witness here. He placed himself there at the view of others, not feeling discomfort on crows. Afterall if he wanted o be an ambassador he needed to be around others, to get used to social affairs and be between many individuals at the same time. Quietly he stretched his limbs, yawing to let the laziness out of his body, shaking his developing mane clean. The day was pretty, the temperature comfortable and all seemed peacefully enough to have a nice time here around so many faces to perhaps meet! The Casimir remained silent, but paying attention.

saga flashes a quick flash of fang, lips twisted back in a little grin. it's an easy battle they've lined themselves up for and she needs the release more than she cares to admit. the loss ( losses. losses, always losses ) are pushed to the back of her mind and she flattens her ears as if that, alone, can lock out the intrusive thoughts. as arjana moves to find a clear place among the spectators, the sovereign follows and readies herself for the battle with her legs squared up beneath her. the gentry aims her own smile to the chimeric woman and saga's tail flags briefly before she tucks it to her thigh.

and when the woman bids, saga moves to indulge.

they're facing one another head on and so the sovereign moves in quickly straight away; as she comes close, however, the woman attempt to rock her weight onto her haunches - fully sitting down - and thrusting her forepaws up, attempting to fling them around the gentry's neck and claws seeking to try to dig into her skin. simultaneously, her open jaws swing at the right side of arjana's face, trying to score thin lines of damage across the skin there. she's trying to remind herself to keep things gentle in the best way she can but the thrum of battle is in her veins and vellen's crooning for blood to satiate him.

Word had reached the male's ear about this tournament of sorts taking place this spring. Knowing that he could be challenged for the Hollow at any moment, the mauve lion knew he should stay well practiced to defend it. This tournament seemed like a good opportunity to stretch his legs, and who knows, maybe he if got far enough, that alone would make others think twice about challenging him for his pride. Anyway, a large group had already amassed by the time the Hodari had arrived, catching @Arjana's words as he stepped forward with his entry fee. A fresh impala was laid upon the pile, something that would not be missed from the pride's cache. For one pride to take all this food in the end seemed like a waste, though, as Roan looked over the other offerings. Was there really any pride large enough to consume this much before it would spoil? Hm, he supposed it just went along with the "bragging" rights Arjana had mentioned. Hey, look how much food we've got. We're the best! Yadda, yadda. Until it was time to fight, the masked man would simply sit off to the sidelines until he was given his match. He'd take notice of @Hiccup, happy to have someone from Obsidian present in the crowd as Roan aimed to offer the yearling a brief nod from where he stood in the pit. @Jafar, as well, was met with a dip of his head, a silent greeting from across the way.

Eventually, all of the participants are instructed to draw colored stones from a bag. Roan watched as everyone drew their rock, looking for the one that would match his own. In the end, it would be @Calypso to draw the same stone as him. Once all the pairs were assigned, the mauve lion would aim to move off to the side, out of the way of the rest of the fighting where he and his opponent would have enough space. "I'm Roan," he'd offer, just out of politeness as they moved aside. It felt only right to introduce himself before they got started. After that, though, the Obsidian lion quickly got into his usual fighting stance, limbering up his limbs while centering his balance. Ears pulled back into his mane as Roan lowered his head in front of his neck. "Whenever you're ready." The Hodari spoke coolly, almost with a smug look on his face. This was just for fun, and he was ready to enjoy it, win or lose.

He lopes with a sauntering swagger as @Arjana shoots him a wink and a passing compliment. My, it seems Leviathan had managed to catch the eye of their fetching tournament host. He winks back with a half-cocked grin "Stick 'round after the fights an' I'll show ye how I did it." he offers suggestively. As he moves towards his group, giving a small sashay of his hips as he left - knowing she was watching.

He couldn't linger around Calypso long, it seemed she was quite popular. A Blackmont should always be popular, and Levi was proud of her. Being a worthy Blackmont appeared to come naturally to her. Quietly, he leaves her side as the approaching figure of Roan beckons her to battle. "Good luck!" His voice might have seemed to be cast for @Calypso, but in reality he was wishing @Roan luck. He was going to need it.

It was about time he found his opponent, someone named @Escanor from what Arjana had said. He should have asked Caly, she probably knew him.

He returns to the center of the ring, lingering near the pile before giving a mighty roar. "ESCANOR! Come face yer destiny, coward!" Wherever this guy was, that ought to get his attention. Levi's bulk lowers to a readied stance then, scanning the crowd for signs that his opponent was approaching.

Sheer excitement boiled through her veins as she stood before the Cove Queen. Yet at the moment rank mattered not. Both women might have well been rankless in the eyes of the audience for rank wouldn’t decide this battle, but skill and who was more on their game today. She allowed her fangs to show in a smirk wide and toothy as Saga indulged the orange faced lady and made the first move. Arjana didn’t just wait around either for she too moved forward. Her body tensed becoming ready for a ramming impact but that wasn’t what the other woman had planned it seemed. Mildly surprised, Arjana growled softly to hold in laughter as she felt Saga embrace her. Claws dug into her neck as teeth slipped across the right side of her face. Narrowed eyes closed a little bit more until her right eye was completely close to protect itself. As she felt hot blood dripping down her face the Noble attempted to reach upwards with her front legs. Claws extended she attempted to claw at the lioness’s shoulders. While trying to dig her back claws into the ground for better balance as she did so. “You know if you needed a hug you could have just said so.” She teased in a gentle growl. Though now really wasn’t the time for talking. Unlike her last battle against Sana she could be a little more rough, but like that battle there was no need to permanently cripple her opponent either.

The din of the crowd drowned the sound of Nero’s approach, but Hiccup saw him in the corner of his eye when he slipped in beside him. He looked over and instinctively smiled — before he remembered he owed him a lecture. “Hey,” he huffed at him, his mercury gaze sharpening. “I have a bone to pick with you, @Nero.” The yearling inhaled deeply and sighed as he prepared himself.

Then, suddenly, he stood and pivoted on his heels. Leaning back on his haunches, he picked his forepaws from the ground and planted them on Nero’s cheeks. Wide-eyed and worried, he gasped, “A SHARK?! Are you CRAZY? What were you doing swimming out in the ocean?!” Oh, yes — he knew about that. Asteria had told him. Hiccup would’ve fussed over him sooner, but they’d not found the pale boy in the lagoon when the cherry-coated yearling had visited. Well, he could fuss over him now.

Squeezing Nero’s cheeks harder with his paws, his concerned friend pleaded, “Can you two PLEASE try and not get yourselves into any more trouble?! I’m pretty sure that’s why my mane’s coming in white.” Because Asteria, too, had found herself in danger. A heavy, weary sigh slipped from Hiccup’s inky lips as he dropped his paws from his companion’s face.

“Okay, I’m done scolding you,” he announced and looked back to the arena. He’d been too busy fussing over Nero to notice before, but he saw it when: another fight was about to begin between a loud, merle-colored lion and, to his surprise, his Sovereign was participating too! Hiccup blinked in surprise, then seated himself next to Nero again. Although Roan had won the challenge for the Hollow, Hiccup had never seen him in action. The boy had been preoccupied in the tunnels while Roan had battled for the crown. Now though, he could finally see what the older male was capable of!

Smiling, Hiccup nodded back at @Roan. Then, he remembered he had some news to share with Nero. “I went back to the Hollow,” he revealed. “That lion there — ” He gestured to Roan. “ — he won the challenge and he’s been ruling ever since. He let me come back. He’s real nice.” While his focus was mostly on Roan, the yearling did give Nero a curious look.

“So, besides swimming with giant, murderous fish, what’ve you been up to?” teased Hiccup.

Yes, @Aurochs, you were that tense. But in the long run, Ástríðr didn't blame him either. From what he had told her when they first met, he didn't like pride lions one bit so why would he be comfortable around something like this? She would roll her eyes slightly at him but he would get a glare from her at his next words. {You may not like pride lions, but don't go calling out names unless you're ready to defend yourself because of them.} She would advise him. He was steal healthy, or at least she thought he was. {You need to pick and choose your battles wisely.} And then her perfume came to Ástríðr's nose and sea foam jewels turned and locked eyes on @Pandora. The white woman settled down next to her and Ástríðr was content before her gaze went back to the arena where it seemed that fights were beginning to start. Interesting. Sea foam gaze went to each one.

Most of them unknown. Slowly the albino man settled under the shade still close to the other watchers. From there he simple observed each one of the fights that were beginning. Innerly wishing everyone luck and perhaps next year should this be around again, he would give it a try on his own. For now all he would do was to give them support from afar.

@Ástríðr was the first familiar face, followed shortly by @Saga and both women were greeted with a respectful nod before she continued with her own preparations. @Arjana replied to her greeting and Morrigan gave an excitable grin in response before the bronze woman moved on to laying out the first round of the tournament. Morrigan observed the others as they arrived, recognizing several of them as she waited to hear who her own opponent would be. @Sanson had shown up to support her it seemed and she returned his nodded greeting as well.

She saw Khal arrive and approach a woman who was only familiar in passing, but her attention was ultimately taken fully by the brute who would be her opponent. "Excellent," she grinned at the stranger who smelled of the Mire. He looked ready enough and Morrigan was more than anxious to get her own fight rolling as the others around her began to partake, so she would gesture the beast of a man forward with relish, "Let's go then." Her defenses slipped naturally into place as she prepared for the rare chance to fight someone bigger than herself.
