as @Calypso refers to hakon as an oaf, minna cracks the first smile her face has seen in months. it's small, and half-surprised, but genuine - a far cry from her usual rage. it's accompanied by the smallest, softest little giggle, and followed by an expression of surprise. she's been so angry for so long, she hadn't remembered laughter or smiling anymore; hadn't remembered joking. the few funny comments she's made have been more bullying hakon than actual humor ( though if you ask her, it's the same thing ) and while it has amused her to an extent... it's not the same as what's happened now. i... i'll tell him, she promises softly, solemnly.

“good,” she murmured in between cleaning. “I’ll be living closer soon, aye? Me crew an’ I will be on de island just off shore.” it was a plan in the works and she hoped the news might bring some bit of comfort to the girl.

“close enough ye could call fer me yerself.” a paw reached for some of the herbs she had stashed away, drawing some near that she could work in to a paste to put over the worst of the bites. Badgers could have filthy mouths and she did not want to see the girl down with an infection.

“Cen I fix yer cuts, now?” if @Minna wanted to cuddle up and wait then that was what she would do, but calypso also wanted to see the girl well and out of pain.

'M not allowed to leave the Lagoon by myself, she tells @Calypso quietly. Hákon had been very clear about that, and while she's not entirely sure why, she doesn't disobey that particular dictate. But maybe... maybe da - er, Hákon - will bring me to visit. She asks, then, about fixing Minna's cuts, and Minna nods. Can't believe a stupid weasel beat me, she mutters, glaring at the bites and scratches on her body.

If it hadn't been bigger than me, I'd have beaten it, she explains, hoping Calypso will believe her. In truth, she wasn't going to win that fight - that badger had been meaner than her, and that's saying quite a bit. Rat had been downright rude, attacking her for no reason! Well... maybe not no reason, but surely Minna didn't deserve the level of violence that weasel had brought to the table!

Okay... on second thought, maybe she did.

It surprised her, but only some. Calypso could imagine the need to be protective of the child, even after a few short minutes she already felt that same need. "Him will," she assured the girl, because damned if Caly wasn't going to talk to him about it. Hopefully it wouldn't go... poorly. "An' like ah said, soon ye cen call me yerself." A warm smile, a reassurance -- they would practically be neighbors, after all.

She hummed as she worked, wiping damp moss over any of the wounds that had sand in them before smearing on a mixture of herbs - most of which would work to keep infection at bay.

Minna's leg was the worst, and the druid unwrapped her hasty bandage with care, trying to be gentle and cause no more pain for the girl. As she exposed the torn flesh she realized that it might help her to have something for said pain, and she picked through her herbs until she found some usnea. "Here," she murmured gently, "eat d'is. Won't taste good but it will help wit' de pain."

Then she would continue her work, wrapping the leg in fresh leaves and binding it gently with vines to ensure they would stay in place.

Well... she trails off, grimacing a little. He might not. Not... right now, anyways. Someone killed a Lagoon cub, and this last is said in a soft whisper, green eyes wide and scared though she tries to be brave. And... whoever did it is still out there somewhere. Suddenly spooked, she twists her head around to check behind her, little body trembling a bit.

I... I'll call for you sometime, though, the child offers, twisting to face @Calypso again. As an herb is offered, Minna reluctantly takes it - making a disgusted face as she chews and then swallows it. Yuck, she mutters, nose wrinkled. It helps, though, after a little while; suddenly Calypso's work is just a bit uncomfortable, instead of actually painful. Sighing quietly, Minna lays her head down and does her best to be a good patient.

Realization dawned and she knew she would have to have the girl back soon - she cursed herself for having kept Hakon distracted so much that he didn’t realize she had been snatched away. “oh,” a quiet exhale as her heart clenched at the thought. A wave of anger followed and she flexed her claws as if she might hunt down the killer herself

but @Minna was nervous and she tutted and bestowed a gentle kiss to her cheek. “Yer safe wit’ me, an’ I’ll see ye back home aye?” There was absolutely zero chance she was going to let the girl off on her own now, though even before the news she would have insisted on escorting her.

Calypso finishes her bandaging as she speaks, and drops another kiss on top of the leaves and vines that protect the small girls leg. “D’ere, it should heal fast. If not in a couple of days ye have Hakon call me fer sure, aye? But I might jes’ come check in anyway.” A wry smile for the girl, making it quite clear that she wanted to check on her patient, and didn’t entirely trust that Hakon would summon her.

@Calypso is comforting in her surety, and minna relaxes against her with a quiet sigh. okay, she agrees easily enough, thinking that she can always yell for caly herself if hakon refuses to do it for her. i should probably get back soon, she murmurs, as caly finishes the final touches on her wounds. i don't want to scare anyone, she explains, though in reality the only person whose feelings she's worried about is hakon. not that he'd ever admit to having feelings, but... she's seen them, here and there.

she knows they're there, whether he wants to admit to them or not, and she... cares if he worries over her. if he feels afraid. she doesn't want to be the cause of those emotions, not in him. standing up, she offers caly a small smile, testing her weight on her injured leg and deciding it might not be a good idea to put her whole weight on it right now. turning, she starts to exit, looking around to make sure nobody has found them. nobody's probably noticed yet, she murmurs, mostly to reassure herself.

there was no doubt in the medic's mind that she would worry for @Minna. not because she did not trust hakon (she did, implicitly) but that she was not sure how well he could care for her in his current state. the girl had grown, sure, but she was still young enough that... she needed more.

she shoves this thought from mind and makes a silent vow to do all she could to give them what they needed -- both of them.

"aye lass, come now. ye lean on me if ye need, aye?" she had bandaged the leg as best as she could but the fact remained that it was injured, and if she saw any sign of need she would pick the girl up and carry her. "i'm sure him is wonderin' where ye be."

and of course, there was no question who 'him' be.
