With pride's changing leadership, Ástríðr needed to get her goals together and get them together fast. She didn't know very many who would want to live in the tundra with her, but right now there were just two that she knew of. Pandora and Arachnae. She needed more supporters but right now, Ástríðr wanted to focus on getting her fighting skill's up. She had more defeats than victories under her pelt and wanted to change that. So here she stood, in the center of the pit and called out to whomever wanted to spar with her. Ástríðr was ready.

It felt odd to be back within Amaryllis. Again did he leave his sister behind without a word, and this time he had no excuses to give her other than he felt like he had to go. It was not something he enjoyed and often harbored guilt about, and also one of the several reasons he had not tried to seek her out just yet. The Nikolov needed to get his thoughts in order before he came face to face with Nadya. And what better way to help him clear his mind than a friendly spar?

Valerius found his way to the pit rather easily, the scent of blood and battle what drove him here. Seafoam eyes would take in his surroundings, flickering about until they landed upon a figure. The younger lioness seemed to be waiting for something, or someone, and as he neared would he release several chuffs in greeting. "If it is practice you are looking for," deep vocals would boom out, his large frame slipping into their defenses. His shoulders would roll forward as his neck tucked inward, ears pinning into dirty cream colored mane. His hackles would rise along his spine and his limbs would spread out to even his weight, bending slightly at the knees and his claws unsheathing to grip into the cracked ground below. His tail now hung limp between his hind legs for now, gaze never leaving the maned woman's face. "I will oblige you." He would then await for her move. After all, ladies first.

She stood there waiting for someone to show up. For one to give her the opportunity to dig her claws into flesh, and one soon came. It was a stranger, but now a days everyone was a stranger to her and that never stopped the shield-maiden from having spars and practicing. Sea foam jewels watched as the older man arrived in the pit and spoke of practice. There were no words for her to have towards him as Ástríðr would thrust herself in his direction. She would pivot herself to be at his side as she would attempt too jut her right shoulder into his left side; aiming for his rib area.

He watched her with anticipation, muscles tensing as she lunged at him. As she made her way around him would Valerius' body swing to follow her, watching as she then jutted her right shoulder at him. Although it wouldn't hit its intended target would it still find itself ramming into the lion's own left shoulder, feeling the deep bruising already been to work its way into fruition. It would cause for him to stumble a step back, tail lashing out behind him to help keep his balance. With a grunt would Valerius rise his right front paw into the air, striking it towards the woman's left front limb, attempting to hook itself in her armpit area and to attempt to jerk his paw back toward him. He weren't trying to cause major injury, keeping his claws partially sheathed, but instead hoping to cause for her to lose her balance.

Well she didn't hit her intended target but she hit something and bruises instantly formed on her right shoulder blade. A muffled groan forming as she felt claws hook into her armpit. Growling, the shield-maiden would find herself leaning forwards and what she did with that was place her paw further outwards so that she looked as if she was doing lunges. Claws dug into the ground as she would lower her body before attempting to thrust her head and up underneath @Valerius' chest. This would hurt if she was successful, knowing that he could easily do damage.

His right paw would connect with her left armpit, jerking his paw back toward him before he released his grasp and allowed for his paw to slam onto the ground. Her movement caused for a rather confused look to be placed onto his face, watching as she lowered herself in an odd manner. But the brown lion wouldn't dwell on it for long, instead reacting by rearing up slightly on his hind legs and outstretching both of his front limbs. He were attempting to have both of his front paws land on either side of the woman's sides, and as he felt the sudden thrust of her skull into his chest would he stumble a step back, tail flailing out before him in attempt to keep him balanced as much as she could on two legs. The spot where her skull had connected would begin to feel sore, the brute knowing it may bruise in the near future. With this would Valerius feel his body leaning forward, leaning into his attempted attack. He was also attempting to use his weight to keep his opponent lowered to the ground to give him more of an advantage.

Her head met with his chest, bruising instantly forming from the force she had charged in her move. A groan coming from her lips as claws dragged across her sides. His weight becoming heavier and stronger on her back and a growl formed. She had put herself in a tight spot but that wasn't going to stop her. Sea foam jewels would look over towards his back legs, they were still on the ground regardless of where his front were so Ástríðr would let her back end get to the ground completely as she would attempt to push herself up and under him as well as attempting to wrap her jaws around either of his back legs. Now, she'd be completely under him. Wonderful.

Valerius would feel her body lower toward the ground with his weight, his claws gripping into her sides in a successful attack. As he pulled them back toward his body would he feel her moving underneath him. It would cause for the older lion to place both of his front legs on either side of the woman in an awkward straddle, and as he felt teeth grip onto the middle portion of his right hind leg would he release a snarl. With having nowhere else to go would the brute strike open jaws at the lower portion of her back, attempting to gain a grip and pinch at it, hoping that it would cause for the woman to release her own grip on his leg. His tail would lash behind him and as he attacked would he also attempt to push his weight down on top of her, further hoping it would cause for her to release.

His weight was pushed down onto her back and a growl formed as she would let go of his back leg. Get off. She didn't want to be suffocated by the larger lion. Claws got a grip on her back and she would his. Now why did she put herself in such a spot? Oh right, cause she hadn't thought that she had any other choice at the time it happened but now that she was here; it was a stupid move and she was stuck until @Valerius would move his big fat ass off of her. Later she would grumble to herself about it.
