The first time he and Valencia had come here, they'd been met by stale borders and empty arms. None had come to greet them- so perhaps witnessing the fall, and seeing a new leadership take part of the land, wasn't too much of a shock. Licking at his lips, the devil pressed forward with his wife, returning to the borders of the Mire with a curious gleam to his eyes. He saw the male take victory over the female - a glorious thing to witness - and he wondered just what laws this brute had... and if his thinking was anything similar to Viridian's own.

Coming to stand at the borders, he released a low chuff to announce themselves; rather than waiting. He let his eyes move to his wife, Valencia, for a moment before turning his attention solely to the area before him.

The last time she had been to Ecrosia Mire, Valencia had thought it looked like a sad, sorry place. Dreary and damp. The exact kind of place that lions like Viridian and herself probably belonged, and exactly the kind of place that she had hoped to avoid. She had wondered why no one had showed the last time they had come, knowing that others certainly resided within. Perhaps they had sensed the visitors at their doorstep had come with bad intentions, but this time they had already selected their target. Their visit to the Mire was little more than an opportunity to learn about the other prides, and if they might perhaps find potential allies among them.

She hadn’t been watching her husband too intently, keeping her focus on the area around them, but she felt his gaze land on her as soon as he turned his head, and she quickly met it. Every drop of attention she received from him was like electricity in her veins, and she soaked up every second of it, only letting her attention shift to their surroundings again when he was no longer looking at her.

Somehow as dank as this place was, it enticed people to come take a look. Even with all of its mud and swooping vines it still seemed to hold attention in some places and so when he had spied something near his borders, he held onto their forms like ants from afar. Interested in their arrival seeing as how little he had in this kingdom of his but he managed to find his way towards them. A little slow, given his circumstance of little to no healers but there was little means to fix that when he couldn't go very far. With it just being him, he didn't have the appropriate means by which to leave it alone for too long lest someone else take advantage. Welcome to Ecrosia Mire. His eyes spoke mostly to @Viridian before his gaze drifted to @Valencia, wondering their relationship if only for a moment before he cast it back to the dark male. What business have you here? Jafar didn't recognize them from the previous rule of Kiton so they couldn't be looking to rejoin or looking for the dead king. They didn't seem to smell of another pride so, realistically, they were looking for a home -- though, as nice as that might be he wouldn't get his hopes up.

They didn't have to wait too long, and for that Viridian was happy.

The male who bested their opponent at the challenge showed, and Viridian observed him quietly. He took in his build, his structure, his appearance- noting it all to memory before he found himself replying to the Leader's question. With a glance to his wife, Valencia, Viridian turned back to meet the gaze of Jafar. {"We were at the challenge, and saw your victory."} Viridian stated with a raised brow, {"Congratulations, by the way."} Because soon enough- he hoped those would be the words he'd hear from others. To be in this male's position- basking in victory and power. {"What laws and ways will your pride have?"} An innocent, curious question, looking to get as much information as he could- to gauge how this male was.

The man that arrived seemed to focus immediately on Viridian, sparring only a glance for the maroon lioness. It was something that might have irked her if she weren’t in such a good mood, but it made things less awkward. It always felt odd to look to Viridian when others spoke to her directly, something that had never come quiet as naturally despite the long years of training she had received. She was about to finally achieve the kind of power she had been holding out for, though, a promise finally fulfilled. Nothing was going to bring her down from the high she was feeling. She watched the newly crowned king as Vir spoke, watching for anything the might give away more information than what was spoken aloud as she always did.

There were countless reasons why he regarded the lioness with only a mild glance. For he knew that men were quite selective and possessive of women at times and for two rogues to come to him, a lioness that he could so easily claim, it was best he keep most of his focus on the male. Lest it be thought that he was interested in her or simply interested in setting a claim. Best to be safe. Thank you. He offered back for he was set by means of congratulations as he laid solo in his own home. He supposed it was better than being solo with no home. Trespassers get violence, visitors get caution. Just as he was cautious with these two that had come knocking at his door. Jafar wasn't very big on socializing or making big conversation, but for the sake of what he had won he had to make a point. Value is based on your skillset. If you're stupid and useless, you have no skill and are of no use. It was pretty simple as he was a simple guy. All's bound to change with time and members. As soon as he could locate Maia, he knew that there might be a small shift in rules and laws. He didn't mind, though there were a few topics that would need to be discussed in detail.
