At some point, this would have been something on his mind. A goal put into his mind that he eventually wanted to put into motion but with the change in prides and Vermier taking on the Bluffs, this was a now or never situation. This time around he had an even bigger reason to want to have a big boy rank -- he needed to get his own sister and the Bezra sister's out of the Lagoon. Provided they would still even like him or tolerate him.

So Mithros came to the borders and made a few yards in before yelling for anyone that had come to the Bluffs while he had been kept at bay in the Lagoon. Calling for any adults that wanted to best him in battle for the rank of Gentry. Might've been Noble but I have Maude, so. Hazarin might have been the only one that might come greet him but his brother had been somewhat absent lately (at least to Mithros), so he couldn't be sure who would come. Maybe Uncle would come test his mettle but truly, he just wanted to get it over with so he could go rescue the girls.

Vermier heard his nephew calling. As usual, the boys were out of his mind until they were needed, while her magnificence Cassine was ever at the edges of his thoughts. The king approached heavily, covered in fresh wounds and bulging with worn, aching muscles. He eyed @Mithros with an eye much more critical than he looked upon himself, searching for any wounds on the growing boy. Any weakness... or proof of strength. For men, weakness had to be actively covered, and respect actively earned (and necessarily humbled in a female's presence). Vermier did not question Mithros' loyalty to him any more than he believed his loyalty to his sister and now niece should be questioned. He was not surprised to see Mithros here, but he was distinctly pleased, and his scarred lips curled into a grin. There was a little frustration within them as he pondered the question: blood now or blood later? The boy had already shed blood for the family, and would again. Vermier wanted to press him now. Blood all the time. But even he had to admit a spar between them would be profoundly foolish when there were so many enemies to rip into instead.

His ears flattened anyway, eager to increase in tatters. "Voyez si la recrue de Cove vous testera. Sinon, le rang vous appartient... en termes d'utilisation immédiate." ("See if the recruit from the Cove will test you. Otherwise the rank is yours... on terms of immediate use.") He would not disallow the eager female the chance to shed blood. Nobody so ambitious, so straightforward, and so female deserved to be stunted.

The now-adult Dieudonne stood vigilant and the longer he stood there, the more frustrated he became. The more impatient his mind was at the urgency to start doing things. He was a full-fledged adult now and, in his mind, it was a sign that he needed to go and do things. He needed to go get those that he loved and start mending things. Vermier was likely busy but from what Mithros had gathered, there weren't that many here and he wasn't about to keep that a permanent thing. Mithros needed his sister and wasn't going to let that one go.

So when @Vermier showed up, he prepared himself to fight his Uncle. To fight family in order to get what he needed but it seemed that his Uncle understood the importance of this rank. That now was not the time to fight him and test him, but to give it to him so that he could at least try. The insistence to find some new recruit was a good idea but it would be for another time. Another time, perhaps.. he might've asked in a question but he was beyond asking for permission, I need to go get Cassine. It wasn't anything more than a statement, telling family that he wasn't going to do anything after receiving this rank except going and finding his sister. That had to be his number one priority. Then, he'd need to get whichever Bezra sister actually gave a shit about the dieudonne anymore out of the Lagoon. Then he needed to locate Amara.

His nephew was prepared to fight him. This was disappointing too. There was violence between them that needed to be settled. He had been separated from his sister's children due to the travel here and then the constant churn of prides. There would always be the bond of family between them but family didn't mean familiarity, and Vermier craved that as well. Companions, friends. He didn't think he could find true friendship with any female. They were too different. An unbridgeable gulf between them simply due to the nature of his birth.

Anyway. He finished his appraisal with a half-blink of approval. His nephew's physical condition and emotional resolve were satisfactory. Cassine's condition was of utmost importance... better trusted to her blood brother who was less wounded, or to the female members of his family with their silken tongues. He had served the matriarch by taking the Bluff in the first place. A haven for them. "Vas-y alors. Obéissez-lui en toutes choses." ("Go then. Obey her in all things.") Vermier nodded sharply, using his stern expression to conceal a wince from his neck and chest. So much bruise. "Ne soyez pas trop confiant avec le sable. Votre pied est meilleur que ces envahisseurs... mais le sable peut toujours glisser. J'aurais arraché la gorge de cette garce Hollow sur la terre ferme. Faites votre défi sur un terrain ferme en dehors du territoire." ("Don't be overconfident with the sand. Your footing is better than these invaders... but sand can always slip. I would have torn out that Hollow bitch's throat on solid ground. Make your challenge on firm ground outside the territory.")

The boy hadn't put a whole lot of thought into his strategy of how he was going to manage to take down those who opposed him to get to her. To any of them. All he knew was that he had to try to get Cassine and the Bezra sisters out, he had made them a promise that he would do that for them if they wanted him to. He hoped they would understand that he wanted to get her out first. That she was going to be his main priority before anyone else. Toujours, (Always) he responds without question just as he did not need anyone to tell him to obey her. Cassine was more than just his sister and future matriarch, she was the closest thing he had to a friend right next to Bee and Echo. However, both of those were strict maybes. He didn't really understand his relationship with either.

Mithros listened intently to the strategy with which @Vermier placed upon him. Understanding that sand was a tricky substance that might very well turn on him when he wasn't expecting it. Vermier had fought and had defended, but that day had not been a good one. He had been left injured from the fight and less likely to engage in battle so quick. Je comprends, (I understand) he nodded firmly before adding for clarification, Je vais aller à The Pit. (I will go to The Pit) A place he was somewhat familiar with and it would be far more advantageous to be on better terrain. Whoever it was that chose to try and keep his sister captive.

Sure @Mithros wanted to obey, but Vermier knew it was often difficult. Sometimes what females wanted for themselves was not what the men in their lives thought was best for them. It was difficult to overcome one's passion in such instances. "Il est possible que Cassine souhaite rester dans la Lagune. Pour espionner, pour assassiner... ou pour ses propres caprices." ("It is possible that Cassine wishes to remain in the Lagoon. To spy, to assassinate... or for her own whims.") Vermier shifted his head and neck as a substitute for shrugging his sore shoulders. "Ce n'est pas à nous de remettre en question. Mais naturellement, nous procédons avec le désir de vengeance et d'émancipation. Connaissez-vous le nom et les détails personnels des lions qui l'ont mutilée ainsi que Bee?" ("This is not for us to question. But naturally, we proceed with the desire for revenge and emancipation. Do you know the name and any personal details of the lions who maimed her and Bee?") Claws flexed out. By now they were clean of the blood of his enemies. Regretful, but they needed to be sharp and prepared.

Vermier nodded tightly. The pit. It smelled of blood so old that it seemed like a new scent entirely, like wine aged for a hundred years to bring out the flavor. He slit his eyes, remembering the topology of the place. Mostly he remembered emotions. Fights, spars, his sister's battle during which they had made a permanent enemy of the Casimir.

To wish that he had all the information to give was an understatement for without it, he felt like he wasn't good enough. That heckling voice in his head that screeched at him for how foolish he was and how weak he would be when he came to the Lagoon and demanded to fight for his sister and their friends. Truthfully, he did not understand why Magnus had kept Cassine at all as anything more than a bargaining chip yet the dark high sovereign had never visited to make some sort of advance. Why keep her otherwise? It wasn't as though her loyalties would change.. right?

Je ne sais pas, mais je peux le découvrir. (I don't, but I can find out.) Mithros could gather the information without going straight to the source. He hadn't known any of the lions that were around at the initial Lagoon challenge but it didn't mean the information wasn't there for the taking. Perhaps he could find one of the Bezra sisters and see what they had found out. Souhaitez-vous que je retienne les défis ? (Do you wish for me to hold off challenging?) Mithros asked, if only because he didn't want to interfere with the plans his sister might have of infilitrating the pride since she was still present. Not to mention, Maude is being smart and attempting to talk out the release/trade of Cassine lol

Vermier would know their enemy on sight, both the female he had sicced Bee on and the adult lioness that had been cleaning her wounds after his pride challenge had concluded. But names let him bargain with others; a little information might be teased, with the implication that he had more. They would suffer. The one for justice much deserved, and the other simply because she was available and Vermier didn't need much of a reason to make their enemy suffer. They had declared themselves an enemy by challenging the lagoon. Whether it was their own idea or some other empire, who cared? Whatever gazelle he could catch.

His eyes gleaned and his fangs slipped for a glimpse of dark shadowed fang. "Les enfants de Hollow and Lagoon le sauront. Et sinon, ils n'ont pas besoin de langues." ("The children of the Hollow and Lagoon will know. And if not, they don't need tongues.") He gave another simulated shrug, a rustle of mane. "Ils n'ont pas besoin de langues de toute façon. Ou des foies, des cœurs... qu'avez-vous." ("They don't need tongues anyway. Or livers, hearts... what have you.") Mithros was still a little undeveloped to go hunting for adult lions but the helpless babes of their enemies would easily falter. Good to have this one hone his cannibal instincts. "Attendez jusqu'à ce que vous connaissiez ses désirs ou que vous transmettiez cette information. Un appel au Pit en appellera beaucoup. Nous devons être prêts à essaimer. Comme quand ta mère a relevé un défi à la Fosse et que j'ai déclenché une émeute en son honneur ! Les Casimir nous détestent encore pour la honte que nous leur avons faite là-bas." Perhaps it was a Talgrim gene, but Mithros sometimes couldn't see past his own nose. As though blinders were put on him at all times, he could only attest to do one thing at any given moment. For right now the only thing in his sights was getting his sister and the Bezra's out by whatever means possible. He was ready to wage war if it meant getting them out in due time because they were important to him. More so than anyone else. So to hear @Vermier express his more gory depictions of what war looked like, he was busy daydreaming about how he was going to fight, who and where. Picturing The Pit and expecting so many of the Lagoon members to come barging in as thought those he wished to release had been theirs forever.

The story of his mother having challenged at the Pit and a riot starting out -- well, he didn't know that story. Mithros hadn't even been aware that his mother had ever even been in Amaryllis. It was only ever his father that had somehow unintentionally stumbling upon the boy's door in the Oasis. The moment that had suddenly made Mithros' shadowy life seem far less inconspicuous. J'attendrai. Sur sa parole. I will wait. On her word. Nothing more and nothing less. He would make sure he didn't make any advancements until he knew what Cassine was planning. Though, he was going to go out Bee and the rest, then.

Une fois que nous serons tous revenus, nous devrons nous regrouper. Once we have all returned, we will need to regroup. Mithros nodded his head affirmatively, knowing that since they were all scattered and lost to the prides and all that that they would need to figure out what was ahead of them. Lowkey dabbling somewhere along the line of knowing that they needed to bond more with each other and those that weren't bound by blood to the Dieudonne. So with that, Mithros took his leave swiftly -- intent on snooping around the Lagoon borders a little to see if he could get one of his comrades alone for a minute or two. exit mithros.
