His heart raced when he heard @Calamity speak. “I want them too. I want to raise a family with you.” He whispered into his darling’s ear tenderly. “You’d be a great dad.” He cooed as he looked him in the eyes. “Ideally I would want them to be with both of us out here, but life as a rogue isn’t safe in the younger months of life, so as long as you promise to keep them safe and let them choose if they wanna leave when older I would be open to our cubs being raised in a pride, but only if you are in the pride.” He stated softly but openly. He was being honest with his feelings as there was no reason to hide them from the lion whom he deeply loved. “I love you. I want little ones to share that love with.” Leaning forward to rub his head against his love he purred before smoothly asking. “So who’s cubs we stealing?” Newt you idiot.

soft pleasantries echoed through the still air of the gardens, pulling the deity from their quiet slumber. ‘cubs — family — love‘; all such sweets words that were often lost in times of trouble, and clouded beneath the fog of uncertainty. and yet here @newt and @calamity were, indulging in an intimidate moment of want and longing that nature itself could never provide them the answer to. lucky for them, however, maua could reach far beyond such limits, and could grant them what they wished, should their intentions and hearts be true.

a large gust of wind would abruptly sweep across the open plains, stirring up leaves and loose petals as maua looked to make themselves known. it was only when the breeze settled that the deity would stand before the pair, bright eyes angled down towards their faces, as a rumble escaped from their chest. "greeting, newt and calamity — i could not help but overhear your conversation. do you know who i am?" the being’s voice was calm and composed, allowing the lions a moment to register what exactly was happening.

Calamity only had faint clues of who the deity was, Maua? Someone talked of once or twice- mostly by those who came native from the lands. But other than a name he knew very little. Choosing to take a step backwards as to let newt- shall we say take over, should this wonderful lion decide to anilate the pair from exsistance. He bowed down low, in greeting. A sigh that in his home lands was one of respect- show someone one of your weakest angles, prove they have your strongest trust.

“I’m afraid I personally have not, but I do believe you come bearing good” calamity admitted. He sure hoped that they came bearing good.

Looking at @Calamity Newt had half expected his darling to yell at him. Scold him for such a question. Stealing cubs wasn’t the best idea after all. Though perhaps they could find an orphan or make friends with another couple and be the cool uncles? Smiling he slowly stood up but than became more alert as something about the air changed. It wasn’t until @Maua appeared that he settled. Just a little bit uneasy before he calmed down. Stepping closer towards Cala as he pulled away he moved to gently rub his head against Calamity’s cheek to help calm him down. Turning his gaze to the being before them he smiled politely, “I am afraid I do not know either, but how do you know our names?” He questioned. His voice was calm even as he took a protective stance partly blocking this stranger from his lilac prince just incase.

the deity’s gaze remained trained upon @newt and @calamity, their aura calm and composed, even as hesitation loomed across the space between them. such a reaction was to be expected, of course, especially for those who were not native to these lands — but, more than anything, maua saw moments such as this as an opportunity to connect with the newcomers, and plant seeds of beliefs and hope along the way.

After a moment of pause, the being would roll their shoulders idly, smile remaining thoughtfully in place as they began to speak once more. "there is no reason to be startled. my name is maua, the creator and guardian of amaryllis. i know the names of all who live here, in my home. it is my pleasure ~" for maua was nothing without them, without their people. and if the deity could put a glimmer of happiness back into the torn lands of amaryllis, they would see it as a blessing. "i also have other powers, powers that can give you both what it is that you are looking for. i heard of your desire to start a family, together, so i must ask — do you think you’re ready for such a step? is it truly what you want?” maua spoke honestly and with candor now, finally stopping again, with the hints of a perched brow. having children was no easy feat, after all, and they had to make sure that the couple was truly ready for such a commitment.

“More than I have ever wanted anything.” Calamity replied to the great creator of the lands he’d grown to love so fondly. It was true, in every way, that he wanted cubs with newt more than he’d desired anything before. “And understand, I’ve wanted many things in my lifetime- my father to get well, not to go hungry or to suffer because I couldn’t bear the feel of it anymore, a group of lions who terrorised me back in my home lands to leave me be.”

“I want a family with newt more than I could ever have wanted all of that, more than I could ever want anything else.” He rubbed his head against newts neck before his gaze shifted to @Maua

Standing listening to the mighty one before them the golden playboy was a bit on edge even after being explained who they were. @Maua the creator on this land? He had heard rumors, but was still on the fence on rather or not such a being existent. Still it gave him hope even more so after hearing @Calamity spoke. Each word pinged his heart and leaning in to lovingly comfort the lilac prince he purred. “Never again shall you have to face such pain and heartache.” He promised as he whispered into his darling’s ear before looking at the pink one. “A family with my Darling. I have never been more sure about wanting anything else in my life. If you can grant such a blessing but need something, anything in return take it from me. You need flesh? Take my tail. Hair? My mane.” He freely and calmly offered. Through it would hurt to part with either he’d become ugly for a family with Calamity.

the deity’s heart warmed while listening to their words of affirmation, tail giving a brief flicker behind their frame as maua quickly made up their mind. it was a simple decision, in the end, for it was evident that the love that @newt and @calamity shared was genuine, tethering their souls together in the most beautiful of ways. but when newt offered flesh and blood for the creator’s blessing, they were quick to shake their head, paw rising in a sign of declination. "no — i ask for nothing in return other than your faith and love for your future family. i can feel that your love is true, and that is enough. " maua assured, returning their paw to the ground before taking in a deep breath of air. "back in your den, you will find a stone. it is purple and yellow and brilliant, just like the two of you. keep it with you, and keep it safe, and when the time comes, i promises that your wishes will be fulfilled." such a stone would prove to much more than a pretty heirloom — it was a symbol of the couple’s love and their future children, and is what maua would use to deliver the cubs when the time finally came.

pausing a moment longer, and giving them both a chance to process the final information (though it would likely not all make sense until the children were born), the deity would turn lightly upon their heels before slowly disappearing back into the breeze from which they had come. their job here was done, after all, and they were eager to hear the patter of tiny paws once newt and calamity’s cubs would be bestowed upon them. exit.

“What in the name of everything sacred just happened.” Calamity asked newt, shocked and bewildered. How on earth could a stone of all things give them cubs, calamity didn’t understand? But he had faith. That was something he didn’t lack. He looked at newt and then back to the den. Then to were Maua had been stood. It was all rather strange- in a good way.

“Come on, kitten. We better go find this stone before anything happens to it.” Calamity said, turning and walking back to the den. Once he reached the entrance he looked at newt again.

What on earth had just happened?

“I have no clue.” Newt replied to Calamity. His face confused as he watched Maua leave. “I think we just be came dads.” He added a mix of a question and disbelief mixed in his voice. “I don’t know how a stone grants cubs either but it is brilliant.” He said excitedly as he nodded his head. Looking towards the den and than at his Darling he smiled. He didn’t believe in the Devine before but now? Now he wanted to learn about this Maua. Later though for now he just nodded and followed Darling into the den. To see them s brilliant stone.
