+5 Observe a fight (1/2)

It was a bittersweet challenge. After the war, it was a welcomed thing to hear anyone looking to challenge for the Bluffs, but of all lions to do so, the call came from Vermier Dieudonné. Between the two lions, Roan didn't even know which one he would prefer to win. Maybe he'd lean more towards the Dieudonné's direction if only because that would take Zoticus out of power and shake up the long-standing Bluffs, but after seeing the white man rule undefeated thus far, the Hodari wasn't holding his breath. Still, he knew this would be an important fight and given the recent shake up of rulers in Amaryllis, a challenge wasn't a bad place to try and pick up new information. So much had changed over the last couple months, and the masked sovereign was keen to catch himself up on current events.

Still healing from his own fight, the mauve lion moved a little slower than usual. He could only wish that Zoticus was still recovering from the raid as well, hoping it would weaken his plight against Vermier, but that was probably too much to hope for. Climbing the familiar path towards the higher plateaus of the Bluffs, numerous scents flooded the Hodari's nostrils. Caladan, Obsidian, and Scilla all seemed to mingle over the overpowering scent of the Bluffs among others. No one from the Mire seemed to have arrived yet, if anyone would at all, and maybe that was for good reason. After just having a war with the Bluffs, maybe it wasn't such a good idea to show his face upon their doorstep. But it was a pride challenge, and thus it was pretty much expected to draw a crowd of all the prides. Still, Roan would keep to himself for the time being, keeping to the out skirts of the pride scent markers as well. He could see Zoticus and Vermier fighting well enough from here. It really only mattered to him to see who won. To catch any gossip on the sidelines would just be a bonus.

Ragna moved to the Bluffs as the call of challenge echoed into the lands and reaching her ears. She of course wanted to go and witness it as she did with most of fights. It wasn't illegal right? So like that the warrior rushed and saw many familiar faces, both from allies but also from foes like @Belzeebub the yearling who picked the wrong fight with her. She of course didn't held any kind of vengeful thoughts nor she hated her in anyway. She was one to forget quick others wrongs against her. But if it was to a loved one that would've been a different story.

She also saw @Magnus and @Úlla . As she walked toward, she head a dark woman speak about the two challengers. That picked her interest so she took a seat near @Jewel. Respectful enough to not be too close, but nearby enough to be at hearing and speaking range. @Zoticus was the name of the lion being challenged. This pride current king. And the other @Vermier was the former King of the lands her uncle now owned.

"Why is he dangerous to children?" She asked with curiosity.

Another day, another battle. This one, of course, greatly intrigues Seneca. The call is for his former king and ally, and the challenger is a voice he knows only too well -- and still loathes. It doesn't take long for him to slip out of the borders of the Oasis and make for the neighboring pride, his paws carrying him up the familiar dusty trails of the Bluffs. It feels strange to be coming here as an outsider now, but he comes all the same, intent on supporting Zoticus and seeing a failure from the former Scillan king once again.

His gaze sweeps idly over the gathering crowd before he makes his way to @Aarani's open side, leaning onto his haunches beside the woman. "Vermier is a fucking idiot," he mutters, his cool stare focused upon the engagement of battle. It's obvious to see that Zoticus is still suffering from his wounds, but it doesn't seem to slow down the Bluffs king any, and he has certainty that the Dieudonne will find failure here once again.

Before she can say another word, @Amara is there -- grounding her, reeling back the anger. Amara is there. While she hadn't expected her to vanish as Vermier had, the idea had still rattled Beelzebub to her core, to know that the woman could become little more than a ghost on the wind. But instead, she is here when the Bezra yearling needs it most, when she needs someone to steady her paw and remind her that not all is lost -- not yet.

She hadn't even realized that she was shuddering somewhat until her former queen is at her back, and the girl takes in a slow breath to calm herself. She offers @Sole nothing more than a glare, her ears slapping against her skull, but she turns shortly after into Amara, heeding her words.

"Why does everyone hate us?" she mutters dejectedly, too quiet for anyone other than her current company to hear. All Bee has ever done is defend her home, her pridemates, her friends -- and still she is labeled enemy, she is labeled wrong. She falls again to her haunches, leaning into Amara's shoulder and turning her gloomy stare towards the fight at hand.

Drama.

It was no surprise that Petra would flock to the challenge, like a moth to the flame. By the time she'd crossed over Bluff territory and made her way to the arena - an undeniable spring in her step, nasty bitch that she was - a decent crowd had already amassed. The lioness would search the crowd for familiar faces; it would not take long for her to spy the Caladan collective. Most of them at this point were familiar faces, thanks to her aspirations mere days previously. It was one way to make yourself known, wasn't it? The Gentry weaved easily through the crowd, ignoring all others in favour of her new monarchs. "What have I missed? And what do we know about these men that fight?" She purred, aiming the query at any sat close by; @Parvati, @Jewel, @Morrigan and.... Ah. "High Sovereign @Avaneira," Petra purred respectfully, dipping her head to the white-pelted Greyflood.

you turn your back for five minutes and the hole world goes to shit. Opportunistic vultures the Dieudonné were. Of course he'd come here in revenge for their show of strength at their borders over that cub. Or at least, that's what Viné could only guess was the reason the former leader of the Lagoon for challenging the bluffs. Viné had faith in Zoticus, really he did. But, that never stopped the ancient Casimir from planning for a worst case scenario. How would they remove their allies from this male, should he win? Oh, how he'd like to have Zoticus at his side once more. And there was of course, Aarani, who headed the pride despite Viné's misgivings. He moved against the crowed, pushing his way until he found Aarani, cuffing at @Seneca so that he might move aside and Viné could take his spot by his wife. Or get pushed out of the way. Whatever Seneca liked. Viné didn't care for the male so close to her. "Revenge, I'd think." He muttered, to himself or to anyone who'd listen. He did not like the sight of Roan here; the wound over his face still ached even with Aarani's care. The male might try something like he did at the rain forest. Don't worry, Viné will try to spin that too.

He was cursed. The moment he returned to a land, the pride he'd been directed to by his own cousin was attacked by the very family he hated most. Oh, he remembered this lion. Remembered them all in vivid detail. While his quarrel was only with the bitch queen, he'd love to take a pound of flesh out every one of them. He could start at the bottom; her mate and her brother. Any any other that called themselves Dieudonné. The thought of the blood that might be spilt in retribution would bring him glee. The dark male kept back in the shadows of a red stone so that he might be missed by prying eyes. If any did come by, well, a turn of his head would probably be enough to shock them enough to walk away without a word. It was the few times the scars on his face were useful.

He is on his way to the Passage when the call rings out — it feels unreal at first, that someone would think of hitting Wolfbron in the heart; foolish, too, for he knows the Bluffs would not stand underneath another… especially the former Scilla King, who waged battle and thought women and children were to be taken away from their families. Dark ears shift forth and the Firnen High Sovereign finds his fur bristling.

His march heads to the Bluffs — his once home, familiar and towering on the western coast. There is already a large crowd by the time he gets there. Tension, of course, near it’s boiling point. He knows there is a likelihood of chaos erupting here soon. It did not bode well that the Mire is among the crowd. He is still uncertain of them and what threat they might pose — why they even thought to consider Wolfbron enemies. The ugly tangle is a mystery to the spotted paladin.

Cupid would seek out a spot near @Arjana — concerned for her safety in all of this, and making sure there weren’t any blind spots for an ambush on the new mother. From there, he watched with a frown pinching his face — Zoticus is injured, and Vermier less so which means he must not have taken part of the raid recently. He can only believe that his former High Sovereign’s battle prowess will stand on top once more.

"Don't lose yourself in this. I... I'll find a way to get us out. Just please come back to me."

Circe's words echoed through his mind, replaying behind his eyes as if it was on a loop. He was scared to fail her - to fail his cubs. His newborn children. Oh, how Vermier had some nerve. Not only was he looking to fight Zoticus while he was weak- but he looked to do it when Wolfbron was most vulnerable. Right after war, and right after recent litters had been born...

Zoticus would make sure that one day, it would be Vermier's throat between his jaws.

THe enemy easily surpassed Korrin on Zoticus' list of those he hated- and he'd make sure to see to his revenge if somehow the slimy lion took to his lands today. He'd make sure of it even if his life was taken from him in the process.

Mind focuses to the fight and Zoticus feels their bodies clashing. Unsheathed claws tore to his skin along his arm, satisfaction pooling in Zoticus' gut. Still, he felt the throb of pain from the impact- and that along with his many other wounds re-opening from his movement, his mind was sent into a world of pain.

Even more so when Vermier went for his face.

A loud growl left from his jaws when he felt Vermier's jaws scrape along the side of his face, Zoticus barely able to reel his neck back in time to miss Vermier getting a grip. Searing heat erupted along his chest as Vermier's claws tore to his skin, planting fresh wounds upon old. Grimacing, Zoticus attempted to dive his head forward and attempt to try and bite at Vermier's shoulder, all while his own leg lifted in an attempt to swipe out at Vermier's forelimb in hopes to waver his balance and draw more blood.

Alma was quick to take her place to watch the new challenge take place. This time it was the pride of a male she spared with some seasons ago. She didn't know the other challenger so right now she silently supported Zoticus. She was there, watching with a keen eye for the fighting tactics each contender could be using. She was always in the mood to learn from others. And now she was just hoping to do that.

There she also took a moment to look at the others attendants. All unknown faces, strangers. With a carefree yawn she returned her gaze to the main event as she allowed her chin to rest into one of her forepaws. Making herself comfortable for what could be a long watch.
