Her eyes search him as he mentions it, and she does spot the scars -- they've healed alright, but the fur has yet to fully return. Worry-knitted brows ease softly as he talks, and she nods. "I bet. I'm glad you had someone there to help."

Not wanting to dwell on what might be upsetting memories for the other lion, she continues. "Oh, yeah -- speaking of patching up. How have you been on that front? Learn anything new?" She pauses, remembers the last time they'd encountered one another. "Those fruits that we found -- after some testing, I figured out that those seeds are good for pain."

Alex just nodded to agree with her statement. They had been lucky. They weren't sure what would have happened of Arachnae hadn't been there to put them back together.

At her next question, their paws started kneaded the ground in excitement. They had learned so much and they were excited to share it! First, they listened to her explanation of the fruit. The seeds had been terribly bitter, but if they helped with pain, they would prove useful indeed.

"A lioness named Snake taught me how to make a sleeping potion from cactus pads, the pinkish white cactus flowers, and lavender. She and I also found a bush in the badlands with a yellow flower that helps breathing. My friend Arachnae taught me about chamomile and catnip. Another lioness, Namara, taught me the difference between white weed and horse chestnut, as well as Nibia and baby bush. Have you discovered anything new?" Their tail waved behind them in excitement.

She sees how excited they get over the opportunity to respond, and she feels the gloomy worry of their previous topic slowly easing away. It'll creep its way back into her thoughts later, but for now, it soothes her heart. Her ears swivel forward to drink in the information they offer -- she beams as the information practically pours from them.

"Ooo, okay!" she says, nodding to herself as she tries to go over what they'd said. It'd gone a little quickly -- she'd have trouble remembering some of it later -- but she tags the word pairs the best she can -- sleeping, cactus, lavender; badlands yellow flower, breathing; she forgets chamomile and catnip while trying to remember the next four plants they name. The name of the people themselves, she'll completely forget until they're mentioned by someone, where she'll be able to place their familiarity but perhaps not from where she'd heard them.

Her tail swishes behind her as her brain churns, trying to take it all in before thinking about what she's learned. Her education has been less formal -- it's slower, through experimentation, so she doesn't have precise names for some of the more specific stuff. "There's this aloe near the Shore that is really good for wounds," she says, words coming out more slowly as she thinks. "There's another plant in the jungle that's good for pain. The fruits aren't any good, but they're good for identifying it -- the fruits are little orange gem-like berries."

They hadn't realized how quickly they'd been speaking in their excitement to share the knowledge they had compiled. They were just so excited to share what they had learned. They never considered that @Faevyre might not know all the plants they had named. To them, she was the first medic they had meet here, and therefore a fount of knowledge. She probably knew everything.

They remembered suddenly of the herbs they had stashed in their mane. They needed to get some sort of bag or animal hide to carry them in, but it worked well enough for now. They listened as she spoke of Aloe for wounds near the shore- they'd thought aloe only grew in the desert, so that was exciting information. She also spoke of a fruiting plant in the jungle for pain- they'd have to find that one later as well.

They pulled out a few of the dried plants they carried in their mane. They'd recently made a trip to the desert to dry several new plants they had collected and wanted to show them off. "This one is chamomile, for sleeping. I've filled my den with it to sleep better. And here's some of the white weed for infection, and baby bush for the same. Horse chestnut looks a lot like white weed but it's dangerous and grows taller." Their tail flicked excitedly behind them as they spoke, thrilled to have information to share with another medic.

Faevyre watches with rapt fascination as they reach into their mane. Her ears swivel forward, her head tilting softly to the side as she witnesses them procure a spring of dried flora. "Whoa," she says excitedly, rising to her paws and stepping gently forward, seeking to get closer to examine the dried plants with great interest, listening intently as Alex explains.

"Dang, a part of me wishes that my mane will get that long now, just so that I can use it for something even half as useful as that," she laughs, albeit a bit darkly as she imagines the conniption her mother would have if she'd seen Faevyre with such a bed of hair.

She snuffles at the plant, drawing in the chamomile's scent to store it in her memory, as well as the white weed's. Her own tail swings behind her excitedly, occasionally flipping over her back. "That's super neat, thanks for showing me." She steps back, seeking to give them room again. "When'd you start storing stuff in your mane like that? That rocks. I'd be afraid of it falling out."

Alex's tail twitched happily when @Faevyre seemed pleased. They looked up when she mentioned their mane and chuckled. "You could probably use some mud to glue them into your mane if you need to," they replied with a grin.

They gathered up the herbs and carefully tucked them back into their mane. "I realized that if I tangle it up a bit, it can act a little like a net, so stuff stays stuck as long as I don't do anything too crazy." There were limits to how well they could carry things. A bit of Aloe or mud could go a long way in cementing things in place for longer trips, though. "I try to carry a hide with me when I go collecting, but if I happen upon something interesting, into the mane it goes."

Absolutely enraptured and fascinated, Faevyre watches and learns, practically taking notes as they speak. The gears in her mind turn thoughtfully, her head softly tilting as she considers the idea. Mud, huh? She figures it'll work well enough, though she's a bit apprehensive of exactly where she can adhere it to. It'd have to be to the side, at the mane behind her ears -- she wouldn't be able to stand if it was too close to her face.

"That's awesome," she remarks with a soft but fascinated laugh. "I'll have to try it sometimes -- I wish I had another set of paws to carry stuff. My jaw hurts from holding hides all the time..." She chatters on happily with them about what they've both learned, simply enjoying the company of a friend.

exit via scene fade!

Alex nodded. "If you mix aloe into the mud, it makes your mane softer too." They gave her this information almost conspiratorially, as if it was some secret and not information they'd freely give to anyone who asked.

When she mentioned her jaw hurting, it gave them another idea for something to add to the apothecary they were hoping to start. Some sort of bag that looped around the neck. They'd seen other lions with them, they just needed to figure out how to tie them securely. They'd ask Arachnae next chance they got.

It was good to see @Faevyre, and they would happy sit and chat for hours, if that's what she wanted.
