Now that he had ascended into a better role to suit the needs of his family, the yearling was set on patrolling the borders and aggressively watching and waiting for anything to happen. The fact that they were such a large target in Amaryllis was something to be proud of but it also excited him to know that nothing was ever boring. Not like it had been prior to reuniting with his littermates and uncle. Mithros was finally beginning to figure out where he fit into the grand scheme of things and his existence finally made sense. Though, he figured it would make a lot more sense if he actually had his mother here but somehow he doubted that she would be making a return. And if she did, it wasn't any time soon.

So for the time being, he was happy to wander the borders of Scilla for the sake of those that served Dieudonne and those that didn't serve dieudonne and would suffer. Truly, they weren't a bad bunch -- they just weren't like everyone else and that was where the target came from.

+5 - Patrol the border

Patrolling is a concept that Beelzebub is familiar with, but an activity that she was never allowed to partake in on her lonesome in her last home. That duty had been left to her father, with her expected to remain sheltered behind the safety of Orusa's walls. Truthfully, she doesn't think as much about her old home anymore; she doesn't think of it with the same forlornness as her siblings. The wanderlust had taken her fully, and now that she is in a land so new and different, all she sees is the potential for growth -- and entire world at her fingertips, ripe for the taking. She has grown protective of this land and its inhabitants, innately trusting the pridemates she doesn't know as well, just as she had under her father's rule. She trusts her superiors to only have worthwhile lions here, and to protect her as she would them if anyone tries to harm her. And so when she picks up on a vaguely familiar but still strange scent to her, Bee finds herself following after it. Limber paws carry her at a trot after her pridemate, her tail waving loosely behind her as she treks through the sand, only slowing when his backside comes into view ahead of her. @Mithros

Thankfully for the yearling, walking at such a slow pace was normal for him as he was never interested in using energy that was better spent elsewhere. So with a gruff and quiet stroll down the marked lines he was able to see and hear for what felt like miles. When the smallest sounds crossed him, his ears were alert while he continued forward, knowing and feeling that there was something watching from afar. Or at the very least, something nearby that was no doubt waiting for him. Mithros stopped then, his ears pivoting before his head turned over his left shoulder as it took just a few seconds to spot @Beelzebub off in the distance. It might have been normal to chuff to get their attention but instead, he stares - she could approach or she could keep her distance. Her choice.

She does not tremble beneath his gaze, but meets it with a fierce and unwavering one of her own, her ears lilting forward as the substantially larger male takes notice of her. Now that he has halted at the territory's edge, she can sidle up towards him without haste, closing the distance that remains in complete silence. There are many moments where she finds that actions are more important the words, and it doesn't bother her that @Mithros does not break the quiet that looms between them. Her tail sways loosely against her ankles as the Bezra slows upon nearing her pridemate, meeting his gaze with a slight incline of her chin, as though to suggest she will keep him company upon his patrol. She is content enough to protect the borders of their home without saying a word, leaving it up to him to broach the quiet if he desires conversation.

From the moment that @Beelzebub wanders forward with a gaze nearly as fierce as his own, he feels that it is not met with disdain. Nor is it a look that is challenging him but one that is empowering to his silence. In that same rush of air that blows scantily between them it is with ease that he sees her chin tilt and finds his theoretical footing between them. From all the weeks that he had known she exists here, he has admired her but not in so many words.

"Bee" as her sister firmly called her regards him as he did her and from so many angles had he seen this woman -- nay, this warrior -- fight not only for the pride but for her kin. That she had done as his Uncle had requested of her without hesitation and for that, Mithros found loyalty in her. One that he hoped would some day be his, really. The way that the dieudonne's seemed to command respect and loyalty from those not of their blood -- he still felt like he wasn't a part of his family sometimes but Vermier was always quick to make him feel as though his blood meant something.

So as the quiet steeped around them and he got the easy feeling that she would be at his flank, Mithros raised his head and gave a firm nod of approval. She could keep him company along his mission to patrol and keep an eye on their borders. Perhaps eventually he would find something to say to her but for now, he was happy to focus on the task of keeping the Lagoon safe.

She has no way of knowing what thoughts tumble behind his icy blue gaze, how he silently approves of her and the things she has done in the name of Scilla Lagoon. This is the first place where Bee has had to earn her place, but she has been enjoying the challenge, and enjoying making new relationships and bonds that had been unknown to her before. She had been born a sheltered princess, but has shed that side of herself -- it never felt like her, anyway. Some of her siblings had worn it better, but not Bee, who only ever wanted the freedom to be herself. She has found that here, somehow, with the Dieudonnes. Her head tilts ever so slightly as he observes her before evidently making up his mind to allow her company. It is with a flick of her tail that she follows after @Mithros, comfortably settling at his hip as they continue along the pride's borderline. There have been too many instances lately that put them at risk of intruders, and their job must be taken seriously; Vermier has made enough enemies for himself lately, leaving them under the scrutiny of more than one pride on the island. The sand is soft and warm beneath her paws, the sun hot at her back. "Cassine is your...sister?" she queries after a time, flicking an ear towards him and allowing her gaze to drift towards Mithros' face. They are of similar age, with the same icy blue eyes, and she had seen the way he looked at Cassine during their hunt together. Still, she looks for a confirmation of her suspicions, seeking to piece together the moving puzzle pieces of her pridemates.

Company had never been something he was very good at keeping so with the other yearling quiet and interested, he didn't feel as though he was meant to be put on a show for her. That she was her to do one thing, just as he was. Mithros had little to no idea as to what else he could be doing to occupy his time. No idea that there were plenty of others hobbies out there that might indulge him in the exercise of fun for fun was an objective term, was it not?

Trailing beside the Bezra was a nice change of pace and he felt comfort with her there. Perhaps almost as comfortable as he might have been should his sister have chosen to walk beside. Alas, she had better things to do and that was what he was here for -- to serve her in the absence of their mother. The question is surprising but not all that shocking, though it takes him a second and a quick open of the mouth where he quickly reminded himself that if she used common tongue, that he should, too. Yes. Mithros answers simply, never one to give more information than necessary even if he found that @Beelzebub could be trusted. Old habits and all.

She nods, satisfied enough with the answer. Beelzebub doesn't need some long-winded response, and he doesn't owe her any sort of explanation anyway. She doesn't need him to be the same as Cassine, or to feel the same sort of electric connection. Just like her own siblings, @Mithros is different than his sister. He is more like Bee, truthfully; happier to lapse into silence than fill the space with useless conversation. She's never been good at that, either. Her tail sways slowly against her ankles as she walks at his side, quiet and aware of her surroundings. Evidently, one never knew when someone could leap out at you from the bushes, and she is hardly about to be caught off-guard. Truthfully, she finds herself hoping someone does try them -- what fun it would be to fight them off with Mithros at her side.

In his young life, he had never really taken to anyone not even family. Family was, and always had been, an obligation because they were an example of strength when he would need it. Mithros would never turn his back on them and thus his loyalty was to them but again, it really was just Cassine. Hazarin and him had an odd brotherly bond, that if anyone were really paying attention, could see. With his sister they pushed each other to be better and bigger and while they might go at each other, it was for that goal in mind. That they were stronger with each other than without.

Just as he made the connection that @Beelzebub and her siblings were very close, just as the girl from the other day seemed to be with "Bee". Though, Mithros could not given the woman the answers that she sought as she had inquired as to why Bee fought for Scilla and Mithros could not answer for Bee's prerogative. So it is in the silence that he asks himself why the girl couldn't ask her sister herself and why he had been the one to ask as though he knew everyone's secrets. Troubled now to ask the lioness at his side knowing that it would continue to sever the comfortable quiet that brewed between them. However, he was also interested in getting his own set of answers.

Sister -- very brown, with spots. Ask me why you fight for Scilla. He comments and while it was a question, it was poorly formed as though he was simply stating that the lioness had talked to him and had assumed that she had gotten chummy with all of them. Except him, as he didn't often input himself into the lives of others unless prompted to do so.

Her ear swivels inward as he broaches the comfortable silence between them, her gaze lifting to scan his face. "Echo," she fills in the blank, noticing how he speaks with a heavy accent and broken english, much like Vermier. Better than the king, though. A part of her wants to understand the words they say, when they speak to each other. She considers his not-question for a moment, thinking about the whys of her nature and what made her leap into battle without question. "Scilla would fight for me," she finally answers, knowing that it's the truth. Amara, Cassine, Vermier, even Kieran -- she knows that any one of them would be at her back if she needed them, just as she has theirs. At first, she had served quietly and obediently because she had known it was expected of her. Her father had taught her that. If one cannot trust their pridemates, then why are they there? And as she has come to form unique bonds with each of them, she feels certain that she would follow them anywhere, follow them into any battle. Just like her sisters and brothers, the lions of the Lagoon have become a part of her family.
