the scent of prey was what drew her from the borders of the brook — it was too close to the pride for her to not, at least, take a peek, hoping idly that something could be brought back to the cache. after all, winter continued to trudge on in a cold and domineering fashion, especially in the northern parts of the valley, which meant that they all needed to be vigilant in keeping everyone well fed. especially considering that cubs now ran amuck amongst the grove, and more were soon to follow. as long as they did not encounter the sort of prey they had last time, the druid remained optimistic that today would be different.

nymeria chuffed out for her pride-mates before beginning her short trek west, following the scent trail carefully and with hushed steps. she knew that her current physical state meant that she could not contribute in the way that she normally did, but the woman was still intent on providing assistance, in any way that she could. by the time she reached the edges of the bog, she knew that she was close — and so it was there that she would take pause, waiting for the arrival of others, as she settled amongst the shadows.

Sure, have the heavily pregnant lady lead the hunt. Heloise had some choice words about that particular decision that she was more than willing to share... once she actually caught up to her. As it was, she had to follow her out to the grove and the bog before she could slip in beside the sovereign, her pelt melting into the shadows around them and making it look for all the world like a skeleton had gotten up and was wandering around.

"What you think you be doin'?" she asked, only mostly teasing Nymeria. All she could do was presume the sovereign was smarter than to put herself and the cubs in danger.

Demetria was just as surprised as @Heloise to hear @Nymeria call them together to hunt. Still, she supposed they no longer had a lead hunter - even so, the wheaten woman felt an obligation to keep an eye on the cache. And between Talisa's growing brood and Nymeria's own swelling belly, they had more and more mouths to feed. Pale paws would carry her swiftly to the source of the call, drawing up alongside the dark-pelted witch as she fixed her sister with an arched brow. I thought you might be taking things a little easier now?

Nymeria and herself were a lot alike in the aspect of not slowing down even when you might be a little less capable. Talisa had been a little heartbroken that they hadn't been able to catch their last prey but only because she had been quick to attribute it to her less than speedy body. Pregnancy had made it a little more difficult but Morrigan, bless her heart, had been kind enough to wipe those concerns away with ease. The children, too, but with less words and more joyful excitement over Mama simply returning home. So she was anxious to join her sisters and kin for another hunt, even if she feared (just a little) that they wouldn't be successful. The cleric wandering to her wheat sister's side and leaned quietly upon her, knowing that she wanted to keep a good eye on her since she was pregnant and working through it.

Aquila was in step with his kin giving Nymeria a questioning look upon arrival. He voiced it less than the others but the worry in the steadfast rock's gaze was immensely distinguished. Alright. We were doing this then. His faith in Nymeria had not failed him yet, he'd grant it once more to the sovereign and engage in her hunt without question. His feelings could be set aside, it was usually where they lay anyways. His belly grumbled and his steel eyes scanned among his kin for them to move off so he could follow and use his bulk best not by hiding it but throwing it out most opportunely when the time was right or he was needed.

four years, no trade bonus

ophelia was quietly snoozing in the mid-winter sun, her ivory coat blending in with the snow that had settled around her. truth be told, she didn't mind the cold too much - her thick fur and valour attitude often meant she was equipped to deal with it. the woman's pink-tipped ears turned eastward when the call from her sister bellowed through the land, and she found her frame rising from her slumber quicker than anticipated.

with a brief stretch, ophelia found herself being carried by the wind through neutral lands until she arrived at viru bog with the rest of her pride mates. panting, her sea-foam eyes fell on @Nymeria, @Heloise, @Demetria, @Talisa and @Aquila as she scanned the area for their prey. what was it they were hunting today? she was keen, ready, and waited for her orders.

"being your cheerleader, of course." she hummed playfully to @Heloise, albeit the fact that she, of course, intended to do at least something to help them in the hunt. after all, it would be rather embarrassing of her to call them here and then make them do all the work, wouldn't it? the woman's gaze flickered next to @Demetria, noting her choice of words with the sheepish edges of a smile and a brief flicker of her tail. yes, perhaps it was silly in the grand scheme of things, but nymeria was (thankfully), far from being a reckless woman, and would not put herself in an unfavorable position for the sake of one kudu. she did, however, think it was worthwhile for them to try and bolster the cache now, while they could, before she was out of commission for a little while. shifting her attention to the arrivals of @Talisa, @Aquila, and @Ophelia, the druid looked to inhale a deep breath before divulging her plan to the group. "if you all can get into a good position down towards the edge of the bog, i can startle it, and send it straight towards you -- and i promise to stay out of the way." she assured, glancing towards each of their beloved faces, before her defenses fell and she settled in amongst the shadows of the bog, prepared to begin.

when it was all said and done, they stood victorious over their well-earned meal, much to nymeria's relief and satisfaction. and she, too, had also managed to stay out of the fray, despite how guilty it made her feel watching them do the brute work in her stead -- but she was proud of them, all the same. with a light, enthusiastic rumble, the sovereign would opt to stand by on the edge of the hunting party, allowing everyone the opportunity to take a quick bite, before she would go to move the carcass back towards the cache.

The young cleric couldn't blame her older sister's desire to be present in the works of the pride while she was working on creating tiny beings. While she had been pregnant that was all she had wanted to do was to continue to help out whenever she could, thus being fat and round hadn't really stopped her. It only fueled her further but perhaps it was good for the cubs to be active while her body worked to sustain and grow them. Talisa would never know if it had but she liked to think it had done a lot of the work.

So she set to rounding up their kudu and taking it down, occasionally keeping a heavy watch on Nymeria to make sure that she was still doing alright in her section of the hunt. Once the beast was felled, she bowed her head and said her spiel:

Bless us, Oh Creator,
and these thy gifts,
which we are about to receive,
from thy bounty,
through Maua, Our Creator.

Ultimately quiet as the she finished and began to take a piece, though she ripped a good one off and brought it to Nymeria. A sisterly look given as she implored her sister in a discreet manner to say "eat it or else" before helping to store and taking off back to her children. exit talisa.

Ophelia said nothing, but simply nodded when @Nymeria gave her orders in the art of strategic hunting. Following suit, the ivory lioness slipped into the shadows at the edge of the bog. Once Nymeria startled the kudu, the Brook members worked together effortlessly to bring down the prey with ease. She slowed to a halt, and parted her jaws as she panted for breath to return to her lungs.

Sea-foam eyes look around to see what the situation was - once she took her share of the prize, the ivory lioness dipped her head. "Great job everyone. I'll see you all around." And with that, the woman slipped away back to the home of the Brook.
