August had never been so far from home. But there was something going on up ahead and he refused to ignore it, to not investigate what was going on. The Rainforest Prince had picked up the pace when golden ears had picked up the sound of violence, heart pounding and little brain whirring. Frustration at his tiny legs threatened to trip him, but within moments the boy had crested the lip of the Pit and spring green eyes took in the scene. A roiling, bubbling mass of cubs in various amounts of battle.

Interesting.

August slipped forward, quietly assessing, quietly observing. A stripe-faced youth had just burst out of hiding, yelling at presumably a sibling or friend to 'Get her, Volkov' as the sly boy came to a stop. "Get her yourself." The Prince suggested, bright eyes wide in an innocent expression. "Unless you're scared." The trap laid - never the instigator but always the provocateur. August addressed @Nikolai with an almost serene smile, entirely unaware that he was addressing a cousin.

He knew little else but the scent of their communal pile of princes: parts milk breath, parts crisp mountain air, with a distinct undertone of mire miasma. It did not matter that their scent took him down the mountain -- nor across the plains. Hugo bumbled and bounded eagerly after their trail that bright summer day, fortunate in how he melded in with the savanna grasses (and did not stand much taller, either) in pursuit of his best friends and accomplices.

As he crept up that sloped arena of sorts, a symphony of mewling and snarling rose up in great chorus. His eyes shone bright azure and jutting fangs glistened in a pleased smile as Hugo approached that great, chaotic display. While their expressions wrinkled rolls of agitation, Hugo's heart thrummed gleefully at the dramatic beauty of it all. It almost made him want to sing. It almost made him want to --

Leaping down with his mightiest pounce, Hugo began frolicking in long, wavering circles. He waved his tail, he hopped and skipped, he twirled all around! Where words failed the young boy, he danced in wonder of their aggressive frenzying until he was panting and breathless.

He had heard the pale girl scream and head for his sister, yet he had ignored it. What he hadn't seen in his arrogant little trot around the pit, was Lyla coming right for him. She barrels into his side, sending them both tumbling. Cade is quick to pull himself out of his daze, and quicker yet is he to retaliate.

With a cubbish snarl he tries lunging for the purple girl, teeth snapping toward her shoulder while his claws try to sink whereever they could reach.

Even if they were adults, they would struggle to be intimidating. Another boy spoke up and Vito's cool, unimpressed, stare slid to the new one. A single brow arched, recognizing the insult in his mother's tongue. "A dog is a dog regardless of breeding." While his own family had it's own system and hierarchy, he'd been made vaguely aware of how more traditional prides were structured. And how easy it was to change that structure. A royal was a royal by chance and circumstance alone, nothing more. Like most things in life, such a status could change in an instant.

He'd kept half an eye on the original target of his commentary, on guard for an attack. However, the very girl he'd stepped up to defend decided to launch herself at the boy in question, which was a small surprise. Well, good for her, he was pleased to find she was willing to defend herself.

And, it freed him up to focus on the boy who'd insulted him. Because disrespect, his father had said, should never be taken without some sort of consequence. Allow someone to disrespect you once, and they'll start to think they can do it every time.

A roll of his shoulders to loosen himself up, and he'd sigh lightly as if bored, "I'd say your breeding seems poor." And then he was moving, charging to meet the dark youth. He'd attempt to approach at an angle and slam his left shoulder into @Ashland's right shoulder, teeth attempting to catch and grip the right side of the other boy's neck. They were still too young for the protection of a full mane, and he intended to take advantage if he could. His left paw would lift, too, attempting to reach up and rake claws down the right side of the other boy's face.

Astra was just out gathering plants when she noticed some commotion nearby. Curious as ever, she trotted over with a branch in her mouth, her eyes sparkling with intrigue. As she peeked over the edge of the Pit, she raised an eyebrow at the sight of a bunch of playful cubs tussling in the center, their energy infectious. With a playful flick of her ears, she decided to settle in for a front-row seat to the fun. Fighting wasn’t really her style, unlike her brother who always jumped in to protect her. As she made sure to cover her tracks with the branch and kept her presence low-key, she lay down close to the ground but just out of sight, happily munching on her stick and enjoying the show.

She stands her ground; she wasnt afraid to get in danger for her sister and anyone from her family. Lips lifted to show up her fangs when the jerk approached further into their faces. Men on that pride seemed to be assholes, or so she wanted to think. All these cubs that were showing had only shown a cocky attitude she wasnt really liking. But in cases such as this she knew words were useless, and when words were, claws and fangs were the only things that could probably have the power to have points be made. Then the guy, as she guessed, went into attacking her, and Barilla might have appeared like a weak-minded person, but the things she saw in that deathmatch seemed to have given her a new sense of wanting to protect her loved ones at all costs. As the boy slams into her, the hit felt like a truck hitting her, pain erupted but her wish to defend her family took over the pain, she aims to turn her head to try avoiding his blow to the eye or do her best to at least have it hit somewhere else. She aimed to turn her head and attempted to bite on his paw, aiming to catch his wrist and bite as hard as she could. Then when he went to push her down, she attempted to spread her toes to distribute her balance better and avoid falling. She could hear him starting to run his mouth again, and let out a peel of laughter as she collided with him and cut him off mid sentence. Even as she went tumbling across the dusty floor with him a flicker of excitement coursed through her. This was her first taste of battle, fighting for the honor of her family, and it was exhilarating!

She felt the boy’s teeth snapping at her shoulder, sharp marks appearing where he made contact. With a growl she through her weight sideways and in attempt to knock him anyway while she kicked forward with a front paw hoping to use it to trip him up and knock him over if possible. Nearby she was vaguely aware of other fights starting, more specifically one of the boys was attacking @Barilla. "Get him Barilla! Show these dumb boys they can’t have whatever they want!" her encouragement was meant for everyone nearby, but especially her sister!

The princeling snorts at the tiny girl's (@arlo) response and his lips pull into a snarl "We are, which means we are better than you girl" of course they were, they had to be. Before he can act the voice of a blue girl (@Elisabeta) catches his attention and he laughs tail lashing behind him. "Them?" he questions eyes moving to the cubs by her side. Cubs who smelled like nothing, no pride, no family nothing but dirt. She, however, smelled like rocks and dampness. Like the two other girls. She was of somewhere, she was someone who could maybe be more than just dirt beneath their paws.

"Oh I know" he snarls self-assured as his ears perk "After all what royal smells like their mom abandoned them in a ditch?" his words were sharp, cruel. Perhaps unjustly so but Ashland had been called names to, that dirt boy had called him a dog earlier. "Says the one barking like one" he spits at @Vito eyes narrowing and ears pulling against his skull. How dare he! How dare he insult them! He was nothing a filthy rogue abandoned in the dirt! He'd never be half as great as they were.

"Says the rogue filth" Ashland snarls moving to meet the brown cub as he comes at him.

Ashland doesn't move away as Vito slams into him, the feeling of the other boy's shoulder jamming into his won sends a jolt of pain through him. It hurt, it fucking hurt but he was going to prove that he was better than him!

As teeth sink into his nick Ashland twists attempting to bite into the other cub's neck as well. When claws find his face Ashland lets out a painful growl as his left paw jolts forward attempting to dig his claws into the boy's right front ankle hoping to pull at the limb.

He would regret calling Ashland names, he'd regret not knowing his fucking place.

All hell was breaking loose within the pit. Tiny claws and teeth and rolling fluffy bodies everywhere. Not that Kincade would get a chance to admire the carnage when there was this stinky girl on him!

His tail lashed violently, ears pinned so flat against his head they may as well have been nonexistent. You reek like mole turds! The boy snarled as she threw herself into him, causing him to huff out a knock of breath as he slightly stumbled. A bruise would form later where they collided no doubt.

Her paw swings forward as he manages to catch himself and Cade opens his ravenous jaws once more in an attempt to latch onto the offending limb that dared to try and trip him.

The little devil wanted to know how his brother's were fairing. He couldn't give a shit about their sister. Besides.. was that.. giggling he heard coming from her direction??

Ugh! Girls!

Get it together!

Kincade also wondered if his father was watching. If he was looking on with pride! If he was busting at the seams with satisfaction!

Violet eyes take a risky chance at catching a glimpse of the large male.

Only to find with horror that Cassius was up there snoring!

she has strayed from her mother's side, from the confines of the hollows. she follows the scents of others - the sounds of chaos the symphony of strangeness. when she crests the pit she sees... cubs fighting, a skirmish breaking out, and she stares in wonder for a few moments before the babe works her way down into the pit to experience it. to understand. had she looked, she may have noticed the colossal male sleeping up on a rock. had she looked intently at the group, may she have noticed the familiar body of her sister locked in a battle. but what Salome does see- what she feels is the drive to participate. the drive to tussle.

so, she growls out a challenge- her voice raspy and disused, and she waits to see who will meet her.
