This was beneath him.

It was all he could think beneath the surge of fury within him. The mantle was his by bloodright, by birthright. A titled passed from father to son and now, to him. It mattered not that this stranger who shared his blood by someone unknown degree thought him unworthy. He would be chastened, quieted, and the Patriarch would return to ruling.

He felt the heat of the other's jaws as they tore into his leg, the sting sharp and unmistakable as blood dripped down to meet the sand below. The lion's quick reaction, the intercepting paw that met his own, was unexpected, claws scoring across the inner foreleg in a swift, defiant move.

As jaws flew towards his own, Drauhir twisted his head just enough to avoid a full grip, hissing as fangs sunk into his flesh. He continued to twist, hoping to make Pomepeii's hold less stable as his swiftly aimed to jab the other in the throat with a harsh paw.

The interception was successful, he felt the way his claws pulled through flesh and would return it to the sand below. Drauhir twisted his head enough that Pompeii did not achieve the hold he had desperately wanted. Still he felt some grip attainted perhaps on the area where the jaw began to connect to the rest of the skull? It was hard to say.

Especially when he was sent backwards from others paw suddenly punching him across the throat, his mane softened the blow considerably however he did reel back coughing. Lips peeled into a snarl he attempted to seize the mans retreating wrist with his jaws and clench downwards. Eyes narrowed while he folded his ears back in his attempts.

Lifting a paw to try and hook his claws behind the extended elbow of his opponent, his chest heaving from the effort of this fight and now the sudden punch to his throat caused a bit of extra labored breathing. Pompeii would be done when he could no longer stand.

With a sneer, he disentangled himself from the other, a harsh bark leaving his lips: Enough!

Spitting on the ground, the king turned to his gathered family. Does anyone else wish to contest my rightful claim as patriarch of this family? His voice was hard, laden with exertion, as his icy gaze swept over the gathered group, daring another to foolishly attempt to challenge him. Good.

Clearing his throat, he addressed them. Allow me to be clear. From Smaug to Vermillion to Arsynia to my father, Kvare, and now to me, I stand before you as patriarch of the Tollaire and king of Caladan. His declaration was near growled, for his temper still flared.

The usurper has been toppled and the sands have been returned to their rightful rulers. For those willing to submit to that reality, Caladan opens its doors to you. If you seek to make this place your home, speak now.

"I am not familiar with the name or family. But I would certainly be interested in an introduction being made to see what might be possible." She says to @Victoria. Mindful that this might be a useful connection here if this family should hold power, now or later on. But ever also keeping it in mind this is the other side of the family's connection. And where this Arcania's loyalties may favor.

Fortunately it seems the fight has wrapped up- her brother soundly the victor, to her pleasure. She smothers down the little bit of glee she feels over seeing Drauhir bleed. Right now after must be a unified presence with him- a bit of teasing later though when she needs to get under his skin is not off the table. "Your blood joins many other Tollaire's blood in the sand here." She says to @Pompeii with a nod his way. As always. At least he was willing to bleed for his thoughts. She knew where he stood with things. The others though? Still yet unknown. As her brother speaks she glanced among the other faces to see if there were further issues, or more importantly further faces she could read for clues. If they were ok with this. With her brother's blunt hand. And if they did not like this? Well the door was right behind them. Hopefully @Hanneth would be kind enough to show them out as easily as she brought this conflict into Caladan. Her face is frustrated at best - this unplanned visit has gone poorly and Pyrrha is not finding herself overly impressed or enthusiastic about it going much longer.

With a bellow and a smack Pompeii hit the sands, his tail lashing behind him like a whip, his claws dug into the sand beneath his feet while he felt blood drip from the wound across his cheek. A scar to remember him by. To remember this moment by. It only strengthened his resolve. Yellow eyes narrowed while he looked the lion over and snorted dismissively, whatever this was about it did not mean anything to him. The fight didn’t change his opinion either, a pompous brat born of the loins of the last patriarch handed the crown and mantle and now it would either weigh him down or he would rise to it. Pompeii selfishly hoped for the first.


Turning he would depart from the group, not running not jogging but not with a visceral commentary either. Just silent and brooding, and it was in this moment one might see a reflection of his father in him. Of Rameses Tollaire. (@Drakon)

Of course Drakon had felt the absence of each member of his family but the joy he felt in being back home and seeing them seemed to outweigh the conscious thought of guilt. He should be more considerate of @Livyatan's feelings and perhaps he would look for his grandson later but for now he would listen to everything else. Orange jewels would glance over towards @Victoria as she spoke of Arcania and the X'uekai clan that she was apart of. One he remembered and would perhaps look into finding his once friend. It would be nice to see familiar faces again.

Soon the fight finished and Drakon would watch both of the Tollaire men make their statements but ultimately @Pompeii left with something that seemed familiar to Drakon. It dragged it's claws through his mind and there had only ever been on lion who would do that and for a moment, Drakon wanted to say it but instead would wait for now and turn to @Drauhir ♔. As I've stated before, I've come to join my family until death has come to take me. I am old, and have no reason to fight for the Patriarch role. You have lived here longer than I have and the days I did live here I made myself known. It's time for a new generation to lead this family. So he would side with the young King.

Oh shit, he was late to the party. Was it a party? No, this seemed more like some sort of family reunion. His mismatched gaze scanned the crowd, desperately trying to find the familiar faces of his immediate family. Ah, his mother. Zephirin quickly made his way up to @Victoria, a sheepish smile on his lips. “Hello, I am Zephirin Tollaire.” he finally introduced himself. “I will be joining my mother Victoria and my siblings in the Cove,” he finally said. It was… A rather easy decision.

Even if he was to go out and choose his own path, he felt tied to his family. He was comfortable with them, and soon he would be comfortable with his extended family members too. He wanted to learn more, to prove that he was useful, and he was dedicated to doing just that.

After he had made his choice, he guessed it was time to make himself at home. But he would do so in a polite manner, once his mother crossed the borders, he would follow obediently after.

With nothing else to do for the moment, but to watch the fight, Roan would do just that, convinced and hopeful that the Caladan king would win this little family spat if only to make things easier going forward. The last thing they needed right now was the smaller tenacious lion getting a bit head over "beating" the Patriarch while an alliance was possibly on the table. Thankfully, that obstacle was easily avoided as the king stepped away victorious.

@Drauhir ♔ laid it out simply the line of succession that had befallen him the title of Tollaire Patriarch. Roan could not help his attention from perking at a particular name, though, as the king's ancestors were spouted out. Though the Hodari was only vaguely familiar of some of the Tollaire ancestors thanks to the years of knowing Hanneth, it was one that held a bit of Tolkien connection that caught his attention. Arsynia. A former wife of his grandfather, the same grandfather he knew he shared with Narsil, but little did the Hodari know he might also share it with the Caladan king. Roan had no knowledge of the two ever having children together, but if memory served him right, they had pretty much started the Peaks together, right? So long ago, and a time before he was even born. Details had a way of getting lost over the years. For now, the Hodari tucked away this little thought as he continued to listen to Drauhir speak.

As Tollaires spoke up with their intentions to join their kin in the Cove, Roan waited for a moment he might be able to speak as well. Though there was obviously no intention to join Caladan as he already had a fine home with his family in the Plains, there was still purpose to his presence. When an opportunity came his way, Roan stepped forward to speak to the king. "Drauhir, I'd like to first thank you for dethroning Miaran. It makes my family that much safer to not have her in a seat of power any longer," the masked man offered with a genuine bow of his head. Even if this king was many years his junior, the elder knew when respect and gratitude were truly deserved. "I am Roan Hodari, son of Dero Hodari and Rooney Tolkien," names of which he figured would mean nothing, but he opted to mirror the same format Drauhir had used to introduce himself. And since the king had been late, Roan wasn't certain if he had heard his own introduction earlier. "As Patriarch of the Hodari family, if an alliance between our families is still an interest, I would like to be involved." It felt idiotic to have to state as much, that he was the Patriarch and would like to be part of the alliance talks, but considering that he hadn't known anything about this meeting until it was already underway, Roan felt the need to state his purpose.

Drauhir defended his title as Tollaire Patriarch and Helena watched briefly as his opponent sauntered off. It must be exhausting, being male. She was grateful sometimes that her family traditionally under estimated her - it made it easier to slip through the cracks and manipulate the scene. The Kings words are met by the rushed words of her brother @Zephirin arriving - Helena cast him a sceptical look that said he was lucky their mother didn't attack him right then and there for his tardiness. It had been known to happen in the past and Helena wasn't sure why her brother would toe the line.

"As my mother said, I would be pleased to call Caladan home and support you both as family." She addressed @Pyrrha ♔ and @Drauhir ♔ with easy body language. "I'm quite the socialite, good with connections - if you need an Ambassador or someone to recruit on your behalf, I'm your girl." She flashed an easy smile, but knew there was a chance her newfound cousins might not feel comfortable with handing out ranks just yet. Either way, she could see herself making a home for herself on the beaches.
