PYRRHA TOLLAIRE

She's awoken early by the sounds of a large herd migrating across Caladan. To have them trek so close to the sea is odd, but maybe they're in desperate search of long grasses to eat? Anything to sustain them through the winter she supposes. Either way their ruckus wakes her up and she pulls herself to her feet within her den. With a quick shake of her pelt and body she is off with a series of low summoning chuffs to try and awaken a few others to come and help her take down some food for them all. Depending on what they find traveling through she might need some more paws.

He'd been having a really weird dream involving the ocean, but it faded from memory the second he opened his eyes and left him vaguely confused. What had he been dreaming about exactly? And what had woken him? An ear twitched, catching the summoning calls, and he decided that must have been it.

The boy rolled to his feet, shook the sand from his fur, and trotted to find the source of the sounds. There was some other commotion happening, was that the reason for the call to gather? He'd find the sovereign soon enough and pause, taking a moment to stretch as he tried to puzzle out what he was seeing. Cinder had never encountered a hippo of any size before. "What's that?"

Sleep hung heavily in Rose’s eyes as she shuffled out of her den and towards the sound of @Pyrrha’s summons. She blinked as she walked up next to @Cinder, following his line of sight until she could pick out what he was looking at. Looks like a water cow to me. she stated as she shook out her fluffy coat in a desperate attempt to wake herself up before the hunt. Why did it have to be so early? Normally she woke pretty close to the dawn, but today had been a day she’d decided to sleep in. Life was funny like that wasn’t it? What's that? Pyrrha grins over at the young lion @Cinder. "It looks like lunch." The success that she and @Rose shared last time they got together to hunt gives her confidence. She locks eyes over on the young hippo. It's not the most dangerous of prey. Nothing compared to the rhino for certain. She glances briefly between her two companions and then she launches forward for a quick snap at the hippo's side and to get it to run off and she can attempt to force it to turn back towards the other Caladan lions. Incoming lunch guys.

He joined them in silence, charging toward the beast as Pyrrha drove it towards them all. He exchanged no words—there was no need. In the moment, he only need give himself over to instinct.

Far, far too often, the pragmatism required of a king demanded he deny himself. Oh, how angry his blood was, his pride. It was maddening. But now, jaws snapping and claws unsheathed, he needn't deny anything. He desired to spill blood and fell prey.

And so he would.

Using his strength, he attempted to slam the creature into the sand, fueling his anger into the blow.

Freedom.

Her brother's arrival is met with blood and the bellow of the creature in new found agony. The number of lions drives up Pyrrha's confidence and, not to be out done, she races ahead and tried to surge in for a few good bites and scratches at the hippo's tough hide. Lest she appear to not be performing up to expectations. Together they'll take this thing down and it will fill up their caches once more. She can taste the meal on her lips already and it pushes her to run faster and strike harder, in hopes that it will be enough to take it down.

Her bellow pierced the air, her fury driving her forward, and he watched with a flicker of dark amusement. Pyrrha always pushed—always tried to prove herself. He saw it in the way she surged ahead, claws outstretched, desperate to tear into the hippo’s skin.

Rushing again, he growled, low and sharp, as he moved with deliberate steps.

The creature's agony filled the land, but he was patient. He darted to the other side, claws sinking into its flesh, his strength enough to shift its weight. We take it down together, or not at all.

Victory would come, but he would not, could not, let her claim it alone.

She had been out gathering herbs, setting up shop within Caladan and reworking the stores to her liking. She had just picked a few bits of chamomile when the sounds of thundering feet snag her attention. The bleating cries of an animal in distress tells her all she needs to know. She listened for but a moment before tucking away her clippings.

She arrives just as the King yells his piece, further spurring the medic forward.

Lilliana dashes in without hesitancy. Thus calf would not only be a good prize to fill the bellies of the Cove. This hunt was also an excellent means for her to further bond with her new pridemates.

Rushing? She flashes a quick glance at @Drauhir ♔ in a moment during which neither is positioning to launch an attack. "Afraid of being in my shadow?" Her tone is joking and playful but deep within she hopes he feels that same fear she does - that all the while they try to live up to what their parents thought of them, what they'd made Caladan, that there's always the chance to be eclipsed by the other. She felt it. She doesn't want to be alone in this horrible feeling.

Inwards she moves again and rather than jumping she aims to wrap an arm around the calf's chugging hind leg and trip it up. Unfortunately as she yanks her own balance is compromised and she goes tumbling head over tail into the ground and dust.

An ear twitched toward a voice and he blinked, slow. Water cow? That really didn't explain it any better. What was a cow? He'd shake the confusion from his face, though, when the queen spoke. Lunch. That, he understood.

Oh! And she was moving. Cinder scrambled a little to follow after. His claws may not have pierced the hide as deeply as he hoped, but he found his overlarge fangs worked wonders. When the opportunity presented itself between the other bodies of allies, he'd aim a bite at the strange thing's neck, saber fangs able to penetrate more deeply than the others'.
