The winter months were rolling in and the Summit was going to need all of the food that they could get and so Talisa called her pride together once again. To come and entertain the snow and the prey that had dropped upon their mountain with Maua's help as they sought to sustain their children for a little while longer. Let the lions of this home come together once more and take part in something as a unit. To rise and succeed together, hunting the prey that Talisa had discovered and tracked. Analyzing their movements and determining how many and it size, confident that they could come out of this successful once again.

She was always eager to help out with a hunt, mostly because it was one of the few things she could do well, besides trying to cheer everyone up with stories and songs. She didn't feel like she was the greatest at that, and so this was a much better way to help out the pride.

Picking up on the scent of prey as she approached @Talisa, she sidled up to the woman with a bemused expression. What is it about this place that draws these sort of animals? she asked softly. You would think with it this high up, and cold, and rocky terrain, they wouldn't want to come up here. And yet the prey seemed to find them instead of the other way around. It was great during this time of the year, when they were all but snowed in up at the top of the mountain, but it still confused her. Perhaps someone else knew.

She was already busy with making sure the perimeter was safe, though she didn't really know why she bothered. So few wanted to come up here and cause trouble to begin with (or so she thought). But, her baby siblings were here, and that meant that her fathers were preoccupied with them and weren't as likely to have the time to do this themselves. She knew at least one of them often walked the border in the early mornings, and now he was busy making sure none of her baby siblings walked into a snow drift. That and she did want to help out keeping the family safe. So she took it upon herself to take up Seraphiel's usual task, stopping every once in a while to sink her claws into one of the very few trees or scrape them along the far more numerous rocks in order to sharpen them, honing them to fine points just in case she did run into someone.

But that was until she heard the call for a hunt, which was a welcome distraction from the relative monotony of walking around the border looking at snow and ice. So she hastened to join the quickly gathering group.

Fearne has felt the cold coming down from the mountains more and more. Snow fell more freely and often from the ice caps and covered more and more of the mountain around them. It made movement difficult but also presented other dangerous opportunities. It wasn't quite cold enough yet in early winter that all of the reaches of snow were frozen and packed solid. In fact last night had been particularly warm (in night terms) and Fearne was out checking on the peaks for signs of loose snow and avalanche potentials. When his mother's summons caught his attention -

Fearne approaches Talisa and crouch crawls close to her. "The snow on the mountains above us does not look safe, if we hear an avalanche we need to bolt." He passes along the warning before he himself jumps in to assist with the hunt. Ever just a bit extra watchful on the peaks over head of them.

We can do this, she addressed to those that were gathered and looked right to @Alvena as she showed and asked a very important question that Morrigan would have likely loved to answer. I always tell Morrigan that I think something scares them this way, because it was the only excuse that could even begin to make sense. Why go somewhere that's weather could endanger your health let alone a gathering of hungry lions that were going to be deep in the throws of winter?? They could be just trying to seek shelter as we would, because the snow was hard enough but getting lost in the snow was a very common thing when you didn't live your whole life in it.

Head swiveled to @Fearne as he addressed the snow that had become so compact up higher that it did pose a risk. If you hear any sounds coming from above you, whether it is loud or soft, move away from the Mountain as quick as possible. She expected each one of them to know not to make any loud noises and they were going to have to be quick so that the giraffe calf didn't either. One of you swing ahead, block it from going further into the pride and then round it back to the outside. Her eyes glanced to @Sariel before passing to Fearne and Alvena. Any one of them could do the job but time was of the essence.

Talisa's commentary on the type of prey they got up there made sense. It was about the only thing that made sense actually. Yeah, they get scared and then they get stuck because of the deep snow on the paths up here or something, she agreed. It was entirely too easy for lions to have that happen to them, so she didn't see why prey would have it any different. Although this one in particular seemed like it should've been fine with the snowdrifts.

She glanced up at Fearne's mention of the snow above and nodded slightly. There was always the concern of that happening, but these winter months made it even easier for such a thing to happen. Thankfully, it isn't an elephant, she said softly. That would probably jar the snow off those cliffs up there with its trumpeting.

I got it, it shouldn't notice me as easily, she volunteered, because with her mother's light coloring surely she could slip by it unnoticed. Which was just what she went to do.

While she was far more comfortable socially in the small group, she knew this hunt was going to be more difficult because of it. So she remained silent while the others spoke softly, sparing a glance for the snowy slopes above them when they were mentioned. A glance down towards the rest of the lands revealed that she could see part of the border from there, which was interesting to her. And all the time her paws kneaded the ground beneath her until they had worked their way through the thick coating of snow to the ice and frozen dirt beneath, which she continued to sink her claws into rhythmically, sharpening and removing some of the outer layer that needed to be shed. When Alvena went ahead, she turned her attention back to the hunt, ready to leap into action.

Talisa always held utmost confidence in the lions of the Summit but that might have been because they had always, in a fashion, been hand selected. Not even selected, really, but they came to her in some form or fashion. They very rarely recruited at the Passage because they were of the mind that they wanted more than just another body. One could argue that adding "one extra body" can turn into a lifetime of loyalty but it could also turn out to be a detrimental thing, too.

So she was happy to lead the gathering of the younger group of Summiteers, nodding her head gently as @Alvena decided to take up the position instructed to have an opening. Leaving @Sariel and @Fearne. we will start off at a steady pace and when the prey begins to turn, we'll pick up our speed the best we can and have a nice meal. Always of the mind that her pride members earned every feast that came knocking at their door. It was always nice when they participated in the hunt to acquire the feast but it wasn't necessary.

Fearne gives a passing glance upwards once more, looking ever in the direction that the prey was heading for signs that the mountain would unleash its unforgiving wraith on them all. More snow falling may cause problems, but so too would the brighter sun melt snow. I think it's heading in a good direction for our safety. He advises the party in their pursuit. However, less likely to cause an avalanche wasn't a zero chance. They should all heed @Talisa's advice.

Poor thing. He commented as @Alvena and his mama make their assessment on what it was doing up here. It did seem out of place, Fearne could only imagine how terrified it must be.

There was a lot of aggressive chasing and a lot of snow being thrown around them as the giraffe calf scooted along. Letting out its frantic calls to try and get anyone around to come assist it but somehow, she doubted that there was any other giraffe up here but this one. They didn't usually come up here in packs so it seemed pretty obvious that this one had simply made a mistake that someone had not bothered to teach it not to make. Nevertheless, the Summit would have their last meal and Talisa was going to make sure that those who were gathered here would take their earnings.
