Dominic stood on the brink of the arena, the night sky obscured by thick clouds, casting the scene in a suffocating darkness. The place reeked of blood and violence, the echoes of past battles lingering in the cool, damp air. Below him, the ground fell away into the depths of The Pit, its uneven walls lined with jagged ledges where spectators would soon gather.

He could feel the weight of the arena's history pressing down on him, each stone marked by the struggles of those who had fought here before. Tension coiled within him, his senses sharpening as he prepared to descend. He calls for anyone to meet him atop these sands. The fight awaited him, and Dominic, driven by a fierce resolve, was ready to face whatever lay ahead. After his most recent defeats, he was ready to train — to improve his skills.

And perhaps one day get his revenge.

she had came for an opponent and an opponent she finds. the male was much bigger than she anticipated to see, but something about him, being a male and a rogue, made it all the more satisfying to see him beneath her paws. faustine couldn't help but grin wolfishly before licking her lips. she could win, she ought to win, and perhaps find herself a meal later. after all, a good fight will demand much of her energy.

bonjour she said in her accented tone. the male might be bigger, but he meant little to her as mere meat and flesh. you look lost, lamb, shall i bring you home? she crept low and predatory, the huntress moving in on steady paws as her tail flicked from side-to-side. then, faustine lunged with claws unsheathed attempting to rip themselves through the man's mane. meanwhile, her mouth was attempting to bite the chin of the boy while her back legs slid against the ground.

There was an arrogance about her that made his skin crawl. It was familiar, but he couldn't quite place why. Ears sweep forward, his muzzle twitching and causing the right, mauled side of his face to look angry and twisted. "Not interested." He replies flatly. Even if he lost here today, she'd have to drag him home - which she'd have a fun time attempting. Their size difference was obvious, but it didn't truly matter.

Claws rake through his mane, slicing through the tender flesh beneath it's thickness just barely - enough to sting. He hisses through clenched teeth, anticipating her next attack, or trying to. Teeth come flying at him and his head jerks back; teeth clip his chin, enough to cause a steady drip of blood. He retaliates immediately, his own powerful jaws attempting to bite toward the left side of her face as he attempts to shove the entirety of his weight at her abruptly - using the coiled muscles in his back legs to aid him.

this boy was a mass of fat and muscles but he was slippery too, the kind that made faustine only worsen her attacks. she did not learn how to finesse her skills, how to make it precise and elegant. no, those were the disciplines of a true noble woman. she was all ferocity and spittle, even as she bated her breath.

and it came.

this titan of a lion pushing his weight against her. faustine's breath was now knocked away from her and pain blossomed against her chest. she had to really dig into the dirt or else she would fall onto her back. her back legs had to struggle to keep her upright as she reared up. the man's fangs sliced deep into her chin, gouging out flesh that made faustine rip out a laugh. her own right law came up, attempting to slam and scratch—whichever came first, paw pad or claws—the boy's cheek.

Jet had visited this place once before on a whim. It had been in a childlike effort to follow in his mother’s footsteps, to become a warrior the same way she was, only to realize all too quickly that fighting was actually hard, and hurt, and it wasn’t actually his first choice after all. But time had continued to warp his perspective, and once again he had set himself on that path with a more real intent.

Today wasn’t about him fighting though. There were plenty of other battles to witness considering this place seemed to draw in all types with its copious amounts of bloodshed staining the earth and the arena-like seating offered on the stepped sides of the crater. Jet lounged upon one of those uppermost ledges while the two fought down below, a hefty stick held between his paws while he chewed on one frayed end.

It didn’t make the best snack to enjoy the show with as he watched the battlers move about each other with keen interest (the swipe to the lion's face made him wince sympathetically), but his teeth did thank him for the care all the same.
