He settled himself more tidily in the cactus' shadow. He pulled his tail in, curling it around one flank to hide the sliver of white from the hind paw. His front paws he kept under his chest and his chin dipped down, also concealing the white there. He watched as more lions filed in, drawn by the prospect of a gigantic meal. These environs let the trumpeting echo for miles. Once the advance of time and shifting shadows forced him to move, he decided this was a nice time to join. The breeze mostly rippled over the dorsal line of his back, so he flopped over to scrub the dried petals against his pelt again and thus disguise the part of his scent that was most likely to be carried far.

Satisfied that his Oasis association was masked, he then loped toward the encumbered and limping form of the elephant and took a place along the rear. Ignoble, but he didn't fancy a tusk to the face or a ride on the trunk express. Once it fell, he continued eating from its massive thigh muscle. Once he had his fill, though it was a little scoop in the grand scheme, he blinked and heavily set off.

He had to keep a greater distance than he might have liked to avoid being seen over the sand dunes, but Lorant followed along to the best of his ability. He remained unfazed as the giant beast took much longer to take down – took more lions in their army, too. All the while he waited eagerly in the shadows for the inevitable bounty that would soon be his with only a fraction of the effort. It was not his first taste of elephant meat, but perhaps it would be sweeter knowing he had not had to sweat for it. Lorant smiled to himself as he waited in hiding for his turn.

It would certainly appear that a beast such as an elephant was a grand reason to go out for a hunt. Many more lions than even he had anticipated came to procure the elephants descent into madness and then into death. It's wild trumpeting loud and clear across the dunes as its cries were more high pitched until they eventually fell into silence following a loud thump. If this were any other prey he might have gone in to gnab a piece for his own hunger but the sheer number of predators that were present he knew it wasn't a risk worth taking and thus bowed his head to depart. exit chaeton

Out of all the group hunts in all the open lands she had traveled to and participated in so far - this one was the hunt Mirai found herself the most grateful for the fact neutral land hunts drew several participants.

While she would have attempted to participate in this hunt if atleast five hunters were present to participate, the young huntress felt the odds were far better once atleast seven bodies were diving into the battle.

And a battle it was. Epic. Bloody. Loud. Sand flew all over. Trumpets. Lions bighting, dodging, jumping. Trunk flailing. Wild. Chaotic. A rush.

But in the end the titan fell and the hunters would eat. She would take her portion in turn, a healthy large chunk. Then exit following the fallen animal's trail. She was curious.... curious to see where it had come from. Why it was alone. If there were more herd mates to hunt later on. Following the steps quickly was important - wind would burry all signs in the sand soon.

As if from under water, Bela watches everything unfold. The group brings down the rampaging elephant, shadows hover above him. The voices are far away, distant; he can’t hear them properly.

Bela's head lifts a little and the world spins.

"Fen?" He asks the darkest shadow, assuming it is his tiger friend. "Ouch." He has no idea how badly he's hurt, but the pain throbs.

That darkness, the blackness around his vision, begins to creep in. He fights against the urge to give in to the dark, but it’s not a fight he can win.

His lungs burn with exertion. After a couple more near-misses, and some impressive stamina from both the elephant and the felines hunting it, Ilarion would not hide the relief from his expression when the tusked monster begins to stumble and wane. It slumped against the earth, lifeless, and Ilarion would waste no time in harvesting his share from the body. All this hunting was going to keep him fit, even if he did run the risk of a heart attack if he kept dealing with such dangerous quarry. Bela - the liger - was still surrounded, and now looked very much unconscious. Others were leaving, though, and Ilarion was quite happy to be amongst them. His spoils - torn and bloodied - hung from his parted jaws, and with a huff he would begin to haul his share away.

The good samaritans seemed to have nurse duties covered.

Her claws and fangs sink deep as they can manage into the impossibly thick hide of the beast, and for a moment this solid purchase Dresden has found with her oversized fangs is welcomes. Until she sees that massive head swing toward her with a mighty roar. She knows she won't be able to move in time and was just about to brace for impact when a golden flash was suddenly between herself and the grey beast's head.

A familiar golden flash. Dresden snarled instinctively as she saw @Béla crumple against the stones, but others were quick to come to his aid. So instead she would keep her grip and rip and tear until at last it was brought low. All thoughts of a trophy were abandoned when it finally stilled, though, instead her attention turning to where he'd been thrown in time to hear the liger speak before the darkness claimed him again.

Approaching cautiously she would speak to those who had come to his aid, though her eyes stayed on him, looking for the rise of his chest, "I can help you get him wherever he needs to go. I... owe him," there was an almost begrudging tone in her voice as she realized that it was doubly so now, whether it had been intentional this time or not. exit dresden.

While she raced her best alongside the other lions and the elephant, she couldn't help but feel a little distanced. Racing her heart out and keeping her body moving was easy and allowed her a moment to really feel the freedom she had gathered. Muscles working their best to carry her alongside the elephant's flank as she worked alongside these new lions. While she was certainly doing her part here to secure some food for those gathered she also got the feeling that she was very much the outsider. The feeling had been nice at the start but now she recognized just how difficult it was going to be to immerse herself into the ladder of their social structures. From all the lions she had seen during these hunts she imagined there were hundreds of them living in this area which meant her odds were quite great but she was going to have to be persistent and find a way in. So once their elephant was felled she left to the outside, her attention falling to "lion watching" and attempting to get a better sense of where she had ended up. exit tessarion

Dominic is quick to join the others as the elephant rages, not wanting to go down easy. He doesn't see his nephew at first, and instead focuses on trying to use his strength to take down their prey. The loud call of the beast deafens him a bit, his brows furrowing. Still, he pushes on and finally it seems they're able to take it down. Before he can enjoy the meal, however, the elephant seems to get one last hit in and soon a golden streak can be seen tossed into the air and hitting a boulder nearby. Brow furrows as he quickly realizes...that's his nephew. "@Béla!" He calls out, moving to his side.

He's been hurt, his blue eye quickly tries to assess the injuries. Soon, Dominic realizes he's not alone, but it doesn't matter. Quickly he pulls his pouch out and begins to pull out the herb he'd just gathered. Putting it in his mouth he begins chewing, making it into a fine poultice before he moves to spread it over his nephew's injuries. Brows furrow, hoping he knew enough to help him. The other healer was more than welcome to offer her own assistance. He didn't know anyone else, so he didn't speak to them.

Briefly he heard @Dresden talk about carrying him somewhere. Perhaps they should take him back to the Hollows - wasn't he supposed to have gone there awhile ago? Stubborn boy. Though, if that wasn't the pot calling the kettle black...

It falls. Somehow, the giant falls!

It was proof, perhaps, that the Mother heard her prayers even here in the most barren of lands. How thrilling. Exhausted though her aching body is, the girl feels a new power thrumming through her blood, finding a breathless crescendo in the pound of her rabbiting heart.

Some might call it adrenaline. Kinga knows it's something more.

"Érzem az erődet, Anyám." I feel your power, Mother. She whispers the prayer between gasping breaths, her voice hushed with awe for the Savante's goddess - and her own accomplishment here today. She does not have the words to describe the mixture of triumph and gratitude overflowing in her heart, and so she chooses to simply bask in it. She's certain the Mother can feel it too, just as surely as she could feel the titan's blood soaking into the sandy earth.

Later, when her breath was caught and her stomach was full, the magpie would turn her attention towards detaching one of those massive tusks. She had a promise to keep and carvings to make, it seemed. Besides, the sparkle of ivory would brighten up one of the Hollow's caverns quite nicely, assuming she could drag it over the golden dunes and into the wider tunnels.

But if lions could fell a great elephant, then surely she could manage at least that much, no?
