ambrosine would pause, her defenses falling as she waits to hear a response from the other woman, before amethystine gaze shifts towards her kin. "la prochaine fois, frère, elle est à toi." the dieudonne offers, passing the torch and not thinking much of it. they were bound to run into each other again, after all, weren't they? with a small motion of her skull towards vermier and amra, the parisian would wait to see if the huntress had anything to say before taking her leave, perhaps even more irritated than she had been before. exit ambrosine.

Fall
Though the air is still warm and the sun is bright, the summer is beginning to wane and, with it, the humidity has started to die down. It is a welcomed relief for the inhabitants of the jungle, as more moderate weather will mean that the rainforest will not feel quite as stifling, as well as those from the desert, who's early autumn will see calm winds and mild nights. For the rest of the peninsula, the change in seasons will be gradual, hinting towards the colder months that are soon to come.

the dance continued, two snakes pitted against one another -- until ambrosine decides to spare her time and energy, conceding with a low hiss. ears peel back, smoothed along the contour of her crown as she looks to swell a few feet of distance between them, eyes flashing briefly to the shapes of vermier and amra, who had joined to watch the quabbel, before they moved back to the huntress. "ambrosine -- your name?" she questions directly, blood splattering upon the earth as the words flicker from across her tongue. the taste of iron is sweet, tantalizing -- enough to soothe the fact that she had not succeeded in nabbing the meal from the ebony woman. another day, things might have ended differently. pity, that they could not have gone for longer -- but it did not seem as though a couple measly fish were worth it, after all.

She stepped back when the other female pulled away, declaring the fight over with her actions. Jewel shifted slowly, her limbs spread evenly to ensure that none would think to leap upon her while she was relaxed and her defenses were down. When the female asked her name, Jewel gave a courteous nod and offered it freely. "It's Jewel.." She would have said a pleasure to meet you, but the female was already stalking away. When those cerulean optics saw her whisper something to a lion she seemed to know, the ebony female shifted and scooped one of the larger fish in their direction so that it would roll to come somewhere near the pair if they remained, or the male. "You're welcome to have one. No one should have to starve out here on this sand.." The female knew that she would go hungry another day, but that was all right.. One large fish was enough for her children to fill their bellies for the night. |

This is a barren piece of hellscape. The cloudy skies and choppy seas do not intervene as a backdrop, no matter how hard they crash. The Dieudonne kept watch, turning more of his attention to a familiar gold-and-patched figure as she approached. Whoever this black female @Jewel was, she might be shortly to meet a bad day. Vermier nodded at Amra, subduing a chuff of greeting because he had to lap up some drool first, then chuff. The yearling had seen enough gore from prey and lion that she was unmoved by this spar. She seemed only curious and... hungry. He was about to smile when he realized it was probably over the stray fish, and not for lion blood. "Regard, no danger. But! Sad! My sweet seester, eef she take Amra and Vermier she win. Regard? Eef fight want, say Vermier come." aka if Amra wanted to get into a fight over a scrap of meat she'd better call Vermier first, because he'd rather fight than play bodyguard.
His sister decided the fight was no longer worth her time. She had gotten all the amusement she had come for. He knew she was not starving enough to fight only for food. It was another kind of savagery, Dieudonne savagery, that had seen the fish as an excuse. Vermier bowed as Ambrosine approached and smirked at the note she left in his ear. "Nous devons baptiser cette terre dans le sang. L'île connaîtra aussi notre nom." For the glory of the Dieudonne, always - his sister knew his heart and his deep identification with his blood, but he thought it might cheer her to be reminded that she had him at her back. She was agitated. He could read her body language. Necessary, to avoid interrupting her unnecessarily, and to be able to obey her silent commands in situations of political intrigue.
Any tension here seemed to wash off. The ocean still roared but Vermier seemed civil, or at least convivial, his tail switching low with an easy sway. A flick of silver caught his eye. Whiskers swept back, prepared, eyes narrowed, to scan - the fish, the macguffin of conflict, offered to them. Vermier swiftly advanced a few steps to scoop it up so any further onlookers would know it was his property. Then, backing up, when returned to Amra's proximity, he bowed again to leave it deposited at her paws. "Mademoiselle one, and monsieur after." Ladies first... since his sister was still near enough to see him demonstrate how he could control his appetite. Her trust was far more important than a meal. He beamed a little at @Amra attempting to appear magnanimous but his gaze kept flicking to @Ambrosine hoping she would see and approve.

Amra’s easy headbutt to Vermier’s shoulder was met with a swallow, and then a friendly greeting chuff. A smile lingered at the corners of his mouth but never fully came to fruition. No matter. Amra arrange herself beside him easily enough, comfortable in his presence even while the two women tore fur out of one another. Ear flickered at the male’s words, turning dual toned eyes to look at him to better understand what he was trying to say. His English was not the greatest.
As best she could understand, he believed that Ambrosine would win if she took both Amra and Vermier. She didn’t quite understand that part, but the latter part was easier to follow. If fight want, say Vermier come. Amra allowed her face to split open with a warm smile, lowering her head in acceptance of his offer. Regardless of whether he just wanted to draw blood or not, it was nice of him to consider her family enough to fight for her if she needed him to. ”Thank you, Vermier.”
But alas, the fight was over relatively quickly, Amra still not entirely certain what it was all about. Names were exchanged, Ambrosine for Jewel, a lick of French was thrown in after to Vermier, which Amra did not understand, then leave was taken of her cousin. Head tilted in curiosity after Ambrosine, who wasted no time in exiting the area entirely. Jewel on the other hand seemed to hold no ill will, going so far as to flick a fish over to the remaining Amra and Vermier. Amra herself didn’t have to lift a paw, as Vermier went to claim the fish and bring it back, depositing it at the young girl’s forepaws. Gaze flowed back to Jewel, her head lowering a fraction in thanks. ”Thank you for your kindness, I hope we can meet again under less strenuous times,” Amra spoke.
Her gaze, finally, went back to Vermier who stared at her with a huge grin, offering her first share of the fish and then him the remaining portion. She didn’t miss how his eyes kept flicking to the retreating figure of his sister. A small chuckle escaped her, nodding her head. ”How about we go find Ambrosine and we offer her the fish?” Amra queried, dipping her head for him to pick up the fish again, and once more prove that he could control his appetite, then easily rose to her paws. Another acknowledgement was given to the black coated lioness before she turned, waited a moment for Vermier, then followed in the direction of Ambrosine’s retreating figure.

Jewel watched the lion take the offered aquatic creature to the female with him in silence. A smile touched her lips as the young lioness offered her thanks, and Jewel turned, moving to pick up the remaining fish so that she could bring it to her own children back upon the stretch of sands. Jewel didn't want to see anyone go hungry, and if she could help them somehow - even here on the grainy sandbar,.. she would do just that. /Exit/ |

Of course he would fight for her! He liked to fight. He liked Ambrosine's approval. Fighting on behalf of her servant, to win more of his sister's approval? He nodded vigorously, very pleased with this deal. It was beneficial to all involved. Except whoever ended up being their target.
Amra took the responsibility of thanking the black female. She was learning the proper role of a female. The speaking and politics part. Although she wasn't Dieudonne, she had thrived under their rule and it was natural that her skills would develop. Vermier didn't have the nurturing instincts of his sister, so he couldn't really be proud of this, personally, but it confirmed his belief in the superiority of their family.
IF ONLY Ambrosine would notice him! He anxiously watched her retreat, willing for him to bestow approval on him. It would suck to forgo a meal and not have her notice. Amra followed his gaze and suggested wisely that they go suck up to Ambrosine together. "Yes!" he panted eagerly, scooping the fish up quickly in the same motion that he stepped forward and out, long strides across the sand, his heart thumping in anticipation of approval so near.
