Summer was settling in with the warmer temperatures and the sounds of the crikcets and birds giving the day a closing. With the Evening settling in, the air became cooler and that gave the perfect condition for hunting and with her growing pride she needed more food. She sniffed the wind searching for prey, eyes locked in the surroundings as the light started to fade as the sun hide into the horizon. Her steps were quiet as she didn't want to scare any possible prey, soft chuffs echoed to come and invite anyone who might like to hunt with her. It wouldn't be mandatory but she was eager to see her pride thrive and do so with everyone's help. 5y | no pride perks |no perks Prey Information: Rolling mediumprideprey 1d29: 24

The Queen calls. Moradin sets into motion to obey, to come to her summons and provide what help that he can to the hunting party. The brown lion draws up close to the fiery hued Zahra and crouches down near her. "I'll keep it's attention on me. Quick before the parents show up." He mumbles and then slips away and off to the side where he can begin to pester the calf and steer it towards the waiting jaws of the rest of the pride. His lips curl into a snarl over the points of his teeth, hot breath rolled from his nose with each heavy exhale.

While she had never gotten quite the same hunting genes as those spread deep into her family tree, she did have a penchant for helping out when necessary. So when @Zahra called for the pride she was quick to halt whatever had her attention and moved towards them. Spotting the young giraffe seconds before her eyes laid upon her High Sovereign and then swiftly to @Moradin. Pushing her way into the fray to help the two of them begin to corner and weed out the babe. There was no doubt in her mind that a parent or two might be nearby and if they had any interest in truly taking this to a victory then they needed to act fast.

Zenith sniffed at the ground, sorting through the myriad scents. Animals had passed through the Mire, their spores fragrant and a sign that they had been here. One particular path stood out to her, but it also felt different. The girl’s body stiffened as she followed the disturbed earth and trampled vegetation, until she caught sight of the large footprints of a hippo.
Soft chuffs carried on the air, teeming with insects. Zenith would report her discovery to Zahra, but for now she would priority to the hunt. The girl rubbed her head against the nearest tree so that she could re-locate this track later, then left.
She made her way toward where the call had come from, and paused to see who had gathered. A giraffe calf was waddling on its ungainly legs through the wetlands, with two lions in pursuit. Zenith trotted behind, using the moment to consider her strategy. The fae recalled how, as a yearling, she and some of her peers tried to hunt a giraffe. Fortunately, the incident hadn’t been serious – but it had shown that the herbivore’s legs were both its strength, and weakness. A calf’s kick might lack the tremendous impact of an adult’s, but it could still be dangerous. Time was of the essence, a pressing concern, the adults could arrive at any moment.
“One of us should try to distract it, whilst the others aim for it’s legs!”

5y , no pride tier, no trade bonus Thankfully more lions arrived to help her which made her feel happy. To know she had support from both family and fellow pridmeates. She didn't saw herself above the rest, more of equal standing. And thus she listened to both Moradin's and Zenith's advice which she will follow without question for all views and ideas were welcome for Zahra. All had the right to give their opinion and she was happy to oblige. So the queen went to be the distraction along @Moradin. Snapping at its legs whenever it tried to run. Hopping this will give the rest the opening for attacking it to bring it down. Dua had heard from her wives that lions hunted in packs, like hyenas or dogs, but even still, it felt odd being a part of that pack. She lingered on the outskirts as the others swarmed their prey, unsure of how to act or where to move to be of the most assistance. Should she hang back as a lookout, swinging her head to and fro to watch for an angry giraffe mother, ready to bust in and protect her child? Should she surge forward and swipe at the thing?
The others chuffed plans between themselves and cautiously, Dua moved in sync, arcing around the party to dance in front of the calf. Go for the legs... one of her pridemates called, and so she dipped forward, snapping at the spindly appendages before dancing away again before she could get seriously harmed. Like that?

Adira stirred from her nap with a yawn and a blink of her eyes. She sniffed the air for a trace of her mothers or siblings, and latched on to the one belonging to Mami. As she tottered after the tigress on wobbly legs, she was mindful not to lose her bearings. Arachnae and @Dua had warned them all about the dangers of their new home. The dark waters held secrets, but the one that intrigued her most were the crocodiles. One of their Gods was a crocodile, Sobek, and the idea of meeting a sacred creature filled Adira with awe.
Adira followed the sounds of commotion to their source. Instinctively, she crouched down in the thick vegetation as she watched the scene. Her gaze immediately went to the familiar golden form of Mami, then to the animal they were chasing. Amethyst eyes widened at the tall antelope-like beast. She recognised her own growing body in the giraffe’s long limbs, and the realisation tinged the whole scene in a macabre light. The adults were going to kill and eat an infant, like her. What’s the difference? That she was a lion, and this calf was prey, Adira frowned. The girl knew that everything ended or died eventually, and that predators like felines had to kill other animals to survive. But this was different from swatting an insect, and a part of her longed to join in.

Soft chuffs for a hunt fluttered past his ear. Quite like an obnoxious hornet, it roused alarm far out of proportion to its volume. He rose with a toss of his head, mane flipping about him and eyes looking more than vaguely lost. He groaned. Was there some emergency? Was it about food? Was there going to be a food emergency, if he didn't show?
Little moved Weimar more than the fear of having to eat leftovers. He trotted toward the group, hastily dipping himself through a mud hole and grimacing as he found it was both deeper and colder than he expected. Now he was drenched halfway up his sides, and he felt the cold winding through his fur to his delicate man skins. He supposed his scent was covered. Unless there were leeches. In which case his scent was covered until he started bleeding.
His tail jerked to try to shake off the discomfort as he ranged, a bit more unevenly, the remaining distance, though the near ceremonial tone (in comparison to what he expected) had him sheering off and hesitating, and then he smelled for himself that this was only a baby giraffe. He didn't want to eat babies. They should eat defenseless elders instead. "Maua, why can't we have an old giraffe?" he first sighed with sour humor, then plopped his haunches to pray with intent. "OK Maua. Real talk. Please let this youngling die swiftly and mercifully, and let the hunters carry forth with mercy in their hearts."

Time ticked by and each second made it more and more likely that the babe was going to draw the attention of it's parents back to it. Each cry sent Moradin's vision sweeping the thick bog landscape for anything big moving towards them. Gradually they could take the calf down, of this he was certain. But their safety directly hinged on if Mom showed up or not. With each new number joining their side Moradin continued to move and keep himself in position to cut off the giraffe calf's escape. He snarls and gnashes his teeth, look at me little thing. Fight me, be mad at me...

There was a lot of back and forth at play as she dove and pivoted away from the gangly legs of the giraffe calf. Moving as quickly as she could to avoid getting kicked with a nice-sized hoof. Not to mention having to keep an eye on her peripheral to see if any of this calf's adult-sized family members decided they had the balls to ward the predators off. Not yet, which meant there was still ample opportunity to try and get a meal for the growing mire. Again, Analia moved inwards towards the potential meal and tried again to make some semblance of a hit.
