Zahra's claws dug deep in his shoulder, she hopped the poison would do its work soon enough, there wasn't fair fight for the rike so why should she do any different? But with one of her paws busy around his shoulder, she only had three points of stability when he pushed into her she felt how her balance began to falter, legs shaking trying to hold on to the weight, he was young but big.

In an attempt to at least stop her from falling, she sat down aiming to stop herself from falling. Claws of his dug into her sides, leaving a trail of bloodied marks on their wake. She then attempted to remove her paw off his shoulder feeling his jaws now on her scruff, she attempted to twist to her upper body towards him for then once more attempting to claw him this time aiming for his face. Hopping her poisonous claws would now go into his face.

it was inevitable, really. with as many children as he had from so many different stages of his life it was only a matter of time. while he had held the mire it had been less likely, providing them all with a home to love and share equally. a place where they could stand together, as family should.

everything was broken, now. and as alaric joined the trio he realized, quickly, that this would be no happy reunion. that the little girls he had loved and cherished had grown far from his embrace, forming opinions and thoughts that carried them in opposite directions.

magdalena and rohan are a united force but their sister.... melusina, end her.... nikandr, now! shouts from all directions that send an age old fury coursing through his veins, an anger at the injustice of the world that had sent them spiraling in so many different directions. a fractured path, a damaged family, and a plea --

"papa."

he doesn't need to hear the unspoken words, he can feel them deep in his bones. fix this. put the pieces back together. unite them. foolish ideals from a man more fanciful than he had ever let on (except for in those private embraces, those gentle touches between husband and wife).

so when @Melusina whirls on him with anger there is anger to meet hers, a defiance birthed of the ancient need for parent to retain control, even when it is long lost. "no," a snarl to match her own, as starke stares at starke. "no, melusina, it is not icefang that made you great." fury that the kudos would be elsewhere, disgust that she would so quickly forget...

clarity reaches him and the patriarch shifts his weight, spreads it evenly, falling naturally in to a battle stance. "you will remember."

ominous, perhaps, leading to the next sound that rumbles from deep within his chest. a call for her, for his daughter. a claim on the flesh and blood that had somehow slipped so far from reach.

she would come home with him; he would fix this.

As was always the case, Amaryllis didn't sit idle for long. Not days had gone by while he settled into the Mire before there was a new call to action. This time in the Lagoon, not far from his newfound home. From the smell, the more was relatively small--something that he was grateful for. Less drama, he assumed. Less issues with rank. More mobility for moments such as this.

The old assassin stalks to the borders, and finds only carnage and chaos. It is a war, bodies clashing and teeth tearing at friends and for alike. He had known just enough to understand that those who called the Lagoon home were part of an alliance the Mire had. But extensively, that was it. He couldn't tell you who was really part of the Lagoon or the Mire in this murky frey, but alas he stalks and observes.

He sets his pouch down, and dips his left claws into a toxic concoction--wolsfbane and redul paste--ready to use it if necessary. He spots @Zahra ♔ in the frey, already locked in combat. Impressed to say the least, he is ready to assist if she should need it.

The summons of war were like a drumbeat that fueled her desire for chaos. Where chaos reigned, Helah would come. She arrives a bit after @Harou ♔ and @Brighid - eyes would land on them both, as she studied the scene before her. It appeared, that Wolfbron was.... on the side of the Vermeda Queen, and Harou had allied the Oasis on the side of the Lagoon. That was a position that Helah did not like, and she would refrain- from engaging for a few moments to study the scene.

Eyes land on @Cassandra, finding her in a battle with Icefang already. Helah's eyes narrow- her breath coming out in a huff of irritation. It appeared, that her second round with the brown female would have to wait. Irritation swelled and rose within her like the tide kissing the sands in the distance, and she flexed her claws into the sand. Helah... did not know what to do.

Eyes land on @Louve ♔ who paces, and then on @Arcania ♔ who is locked into a battle with a Scillan scented male. Helah's icy gaze comes to rest on Harou himself, as she remains away from him- across the way. A snarl would break across her inky lips, as she felt her frustration and irritation bubble up inside of her- for the predicament that his choices put her in now.

Fuck it.

Helah lets loose a snarl that is loud, and demanding. She is called someone to challenge her- someone to fight with. She wants to lose herself in the ripping and tearing of flesh. Because at least the violence made sense.

"Helah will probably fight anyone. She is Andal but isn't happy about the alliance with SL since she's friends with Louve and likes Icefang."

The lagoon is a place that was haunted.

Simply coming close to this place where she heard her brother's challenging call come from... is... hard. Taraji arrives at the border with trepidation evident in every step she takes as if the ghost of her mother and sister are to be waiting- to find her lacking in some way. The Firnen lioness's eyes are only for her brother who is a whirlwind of battle moves and ferocity as he fights a gray Queen for the land. What does it mean if he wins? She wonders, she wonders what that means for her- would she be expected to join him?

They are not close siblings. She hasn't spoken to him in over a year but shouldn't there be some sibling loyalty? Some closeness? Shouldn't she care more than she was afraid? What would it mean if Cassius won here today? Taraji did not know, but she stood- observing all the chaos as it unfolded, watching and waiting.

It is chaos. He is glad he stalked out of the pride lands to follow the air of excitement and anticipation. He is glad he heard the call of war and heeded it, he sees lions he does not know locked in combat and he stares wide eyed as they rip at each others flesh. His shoulder stings at the memory of his own fight a month before. His sister (adopted) had stabbed him with a discarded bone, and he planned to pay her back for it, but that could wait.

Ahead of him he picked out the dark form of Lathan fighting alongside the medic woman whose name he had forgotten. His tail lashed in excitement as he though about joining them. Then he heard the distinct call of his mother, she was locking jaws with a woman he didn't know. His felt a thrill run up his spine as he watched her, it was carnage; but the boy knew as he watched that she would not lose, she couldn't.

The splotchy guy is off to Erasmos' other side and he can see he too is fighting, it looks serious. Raz remembers seeing him writhing on the ground when he'd been poisoned and he wonders if that made him stronger, he supposed it didn't matter if he was badly maimed or killed here in this strange territory.

A call goes out, a claim on a lioness. Raz turns his head to look in the lion's direction his lip curling. That is a Brook lioness he calls for, he's sure of it. Fuck! Frustration bubbles in the boy's belly, he's too young and too small. He wants to help.

Raz spots @Helah ♔ and moves closer to her, he doesn't know her well but she had seemed to like his Ma when they'd fought in the pass. Watching her make a demand to battle, roaring her challenge into the chaos he copies here, his stance wide and his tail lashing.

Erasmos shouldn't be here but he is and he wants to FIGHT

it doesn't take long before hell unleashes on the once calm sands of the lagoon. she hears the cries of many, the victory of some, and brighid throws herself into the flurry with her sharpened blade and cracked shield. she remembers the allies of the oasis ( how could she not? ) as devoted she was to the dunes and steers away from those that symbolize camaraderie. but there, there is a lioness watching from the outskirts and brighid turns her anger there, churning up the sand in her wake as she approaches head long at a sprint.

there were no bystanders in war.

as she launches herself in @Sable's direction, brighid's jaw drops slack and she attempts to barrel her right shoulder into the smaller lioness' chest. simultaneously, she hopes that it is enough to stun her target so that she could sink her teeth into the junction where shoulder met neck.

This fight was clearly over and Fairytale was sure she had gotten her point across. Snarling she disengaged @Obsidiana. Fangs bloody and daring the dark girl to say something about it. "Now until you want something else, something worse from someone else either leave or sit down and shut up." Her words were laced with serious but calm as she looked at the enemy girl with narrowed eyes. Fairytale respected Cassandra and she wasn’t afraid to get violent against anyone who she thought was disrespectful towards her. Even though Obsidiana was still just a stupid yearling. Stepping away she looked around and moved to sit next to @Güelle and @Rhea. "Hey don’t mind me I am just gonna lay down right here and take a little nap." She said panting from the adrenaline rush wearing off leaving her exhausted. Laying down near them she closed her eyes for a moment but still kept her ears alert.

Fights continued to break out all over, pulling Sable's focus in different directions; so much so, that she almost missed the woman racing straight for her, singling her out amongst those surrounding the intense fighting. She apparently had other ideas for Sable rather than letting her merely sit and watch. Probably should have stayed hidden; foolish of me.

As @Brighid neared, Sable dug her paws into the sand and sunk her head back into her shoulders as she twisted, bracing for impact. Her left shoulder took the brunt of the woman's charge and, her right shoulder felt the sharp pain of fangs sinking in where they'd sought her neck. In their initial closeness, there was a moment of recognition from the recent Andal challenge—the woman had been a participant in one of the fights there as well—but she sure didn't smell like the desert anymore; she was pure salt air.

Grunting at the pain, Sable raised a paw to try and firmly grasp the woman's snout and pull it free from her shoulder and towards her own jaws as they opened wide.

He was heavy, but she refused to bow to him. The only man she would have bowed to was (presumably) now dead. And so she forced herself to remain standing. She shook her head, attempting to worsen the wounds on his forelimb, at least until she felt teeth against her head.

As his jaws closed on her skull, it was as if he'd pressed a memory into it as well. This was the one who had fought Etain at the challenge. Well, Etain might not be here to get her revenge but perhaps Arcania could do so for her.

His teeth sank into the thin flesh around her skull and she felt a trickle of blood run down her neck. She lifted her left front leg, ignoring the fact that it made his claws sink in all the more, and attempted to get her claws around his elbow. She also
