we have to be careful, desdemona makes her presence known, the calico's voice a quiet stage whisper in the depths of the cave. the huntress sidles forward, glowing with confidence as she eyes the huge creature, watching as its side scrape against the cavern walls. its a wonder that its made it here and the cat is keen on giving it a proper welcome - all the while keeping her pridemates safe.

she has a healthy respect for the mighty pachyderms strength but this is her territory after all. steer clear of its trunk and tusks, her eyes glance over the pointed ivory, let's do our best to avoid its front. there's no room to hide if it charges. it would be a battle of endurance and stamina in the halls of their underground home and her claws unsheathe, scraping against the stone. we'll attack from the rear and weaken its legs. it will go down. down under its own weight and then they'd go in for the kill. she's ready to dive in, to give guidance as needed, and feels a ripple of anticipation shudder down her spine.

To say Valerius was surprised would be a definite understatement. He was trying to figure out just how an elephant, a grown one at that, could have possibly found its way underground and here. The thoughts ran rampant in his mind as the lion made his way toward the growing crowd, pride members all chomping at the bit to have a chance to partake in the elephant's demise. Ears would flick forward as he heard a woman's command about how to go about taking this giant prey down. Sea foam gaze would then shift from her with a nod of his head and body would lower into a crouch, keeping himself well away from the tusks and trunk and instead sticking to the rear like the calico resembled lioness had said. His muscles were tense and his body was ready to pounce when the time came.

4 years / no bonus

The brute arrives rather late to the party. Head hung low and mouth parted slightly. Deadly eyes staring to the lions that had gathered at the scene. He stood at the back, quiet and observing. Ready to jump into action when it was needed. He could remember the first hunt they had and how little they were. The pride was growing, but the man didn't really care about that. He had spend most of his days out of the Hollow and wandering around, seeing new faces and finding new places.

He lowered himself slightly and awaited the signal, his ears perked when the familiar scent of the spotted lioness reached him. His eyes fixed on her back and he stared for a long moment, before returning his attention to the poor elephant that was going to become food.

LIONS HAVE WON!

It was amazing to the carmine Noble how many lions an Elephant could bring out. It was like the Hollow had tripled in size since she'd last checked. All these lions that called the Hollow's their home seemed to come out in mass and Zulema was proud of each one of them (in her own way). Pleased to have taken down this massive beast with the help of her pride mates though wondering where they'd all been on the priors. If anything the pathfinder felt sore and winded over the long-haul of the brutal fight that had surely exhausted them all. Skilled hunter or not, Elephant's packed quite a fight and they were lucky to come out of it without a death. So Zulema did what she could to stick around and assist in the clean up before wandering on her way. Not without side-eyeing Zola first, of course. exit zu

It would not take long for the legion to advance; familiar faces, all welcomed here in the planned attack against their biggest foe yet. It was a blessing that they had the numbers on their side. By the time the last of them had gathered together, Magnus was sure they were in double digits. But, even with that, they might still fail. Worse; one of them could be gravely hurt, even killed. @Elijah and @Sidonie's presence, then, was most welcome indeed. They would all come together, under the welcome leadership of @Desdemona. Magnus was not the most skilled of hunters - that much he would admit openly - but he could take direction just fine. As advised, his attacks were directed to the ankles of the lumbering beast.

After a hell of a lot of scuffling - and a couple of scary near-misses - the beast was down. Magnus, bloodied and weary, would take a step back to regard the fallen creature. How the hell are we going to do this, he muttered, more to himself than anyone in particular. He would raise his voice, then, to address the rest of the pride. This is too big to get back to the cache in one piece. Luckily, it is in the heart of our territory so it can stay here. Please, rest, eat. He would pause, running his tongue along wet lips. And well done. He was impressed, with each and every one of them. It was not every day that a group managed to take down something this big; even one of their size. With a nod to the hunting party, the obsidian titan would turn on his heels and head out.

He needed to rest his weary bones.

there was little else that needed to be said and done. as the pride gathered, Sidonie felt swept up in the sheer numbers. Magnus had already told her they were a large pride, yet she was not very good at crowds. the yearling kept to the back and once the elephant was felled, she would move to take her share. that was all though. once done, the girl would walk off - alone. she would lick what wounds she got clean, patch herself up and eat. if anyone wished to join her, she did not care. whether she would be thankful for the company or not - well, that was beyond the point.

This surely wasn't something that you saw every day, especially in the heart of their territory nonetheless. Nadia turned her attention towards Desdemona, a small smile curving the edges of her lips as she listened to the calico woman take the lead on how they should approach the elephant. Nadia had never hunted an elephant before but it was something she had always wanted to tick off of her bucket list. It was mere moments before they were all attacking, aiming for the hind legs and being sure to steer clear of it's trunk and tusks. With a loud bellow the beast eventually succumbed to it's fate and Nadia couldn't help but beam. It was clear that they all worked together quite well as a pride. Admittedly though the obsidian lioness was quite winded when all was said and done. Quietly she took a decent sized morsel of meat for herself before retreating back to her own quarters to enjoy her meal.

it seemed the prospect of taking down a gigantic creature brought out more lions than ever before. zoya’s eager eyes took in every new face. it seemed the pride was growing, and if they managed to defeat this huge animal, it would be another success. she listened to the beautiful calico woman’s hunting advice, and then it all began.

to her joy, they were successful. it had been a tough hunt, and she was bruised, with a few nasty scrapes— but nothing major. thankfully, no one had fallen. she was not in pain, her injuries mild- they would heal in time. after taking in magnus’ words, she hauled her weary body over to the great carcass of the freshly fallen beast. she took a share, and then carried it out of the vicinity to eat in peace. amazed, and proud, that they had taken down such a mighty creature. of course, she did not miss zulemas side eye, which cast a transient smirk on the assassin’s lips.

the mighty elephant indeed went down, but not without a fight. the hollow lions leapt into action and managed to overtake their quarry, the elephant's final bellows echoing throughout the halls of their home. it seemed that everyone had managed to complete this hunt relatively unharmed other than a few bruises and scrapes. she had felt her claws wrench against the creature's tough skin as she sought to cling to it and bruises had blossomed under her pale fur where she had been pressed against the hard stone walls of the cavern by the elephant.

as adrenaline wears off and she realizes just how much food they have, she lets a bout of excited laughter chime around her. there's a question of what to do with it but magnus opts to leave it within the atrium, allowing for it to be within reach of anyone who wanted to partake - considering they couldn't move it elsewhere. we'll have to do this again! desdemona purrs, clearly thrilled by the feat that they had just performed ( with her brilliant leadership, of course ). the calico takes herself a generous pound of flesh and turns tail to dig into the delicacy.
