Rain, rain, rain, so much rain. The levels of the water in the mire rise higher and higher over the start of the spring until in the middle of the night a flash flood rushes through the pride lands. Sweeping many away, tossing others into trees, and forcing the pride to leave.

He shouldn't do this. He should leave it to Hubert. He should leave it to literally anyone else, but he can't help it. Colsun is drawn to the idea of a kingdom like a moth to flame, and his intentions are clear as he crosses over the borders and releases a declaration of ownership. He knows someone will come to test him, knows with every fiber of his being that he may not be the man for the job. Colsun could fail, but how would he ever know unless he tries? Zahra rushed when she sensed something going wrong on the Mire. And there she didnt sense any scents, or at leats not flesh. Did the Rike scum died? She hopped so, it seemed Vellen had dispossed of him. She smilled bu there was later time for being happy, she wanted to mire for herself, it wasnte exactly close to the ocean but still had an opening near it.

She saw somone there, and she didnt care who it was she was going to fight. It was time for the Sigrun to hold a pride once again.

And it was going to be her, of no one else would.

The fiery lioness says nothing as she approaches, only stares wordlessly at him as though he is the devil come to claim his half of the bargain. Colsun scents the summit on her pelt and offers a thin smile: “we are not enemies. May the strongest win, but let no hatred bloom.” He doesn't think his family still resides up in the mountains, but if they did, he's even more confident the land will benefit from this battle.. Whoever wins, the pride will finally belong to someone worthy. Someone able to wash away the sins of the Rike and start anew. Someone that Ecrosia has cried out for since the beginning. He may also be making all of that up for the sake of boosting his own excitement and adrenaline. Without another word, he initiates the fight. Colsun attempts to rush the smaller lioness, jaws hung slack for the series of attacks he plans on working through. His first move is to attempt to slam his left shoulder into the meat of her chest, hoping to knock the wind from her or cause her to stagger. His second will simply come in time. Zahra had eyes calm, relaxed and focused on this important day of her life. Today marked the start of her wish to make the Sigrun to rise again, to bring their family back to the stability and prosperity they held back on her father's era. Back when he and her mother, Saga and more of their elders built up their name. And now taking it as her own responsibility to make it possible for it to reborn from the ashes of that former glory. She took a deep breath as she took a fighting posture. "May vellen pick the best today." May he pick the one he sees the more fit for this crown. Win or not she would always try again some other time.

Finally he begins, and she disconnects her mind from the surroundings all senses and attention to the fight. He starts by aiming to slam his left shoulder into her chest. As an attempt to not let the wind leave her lungs she plants her paws firmly into the ground. When he does collide against her chest she aimed to hold on her breath hopping to keep as much breath as she was able to. But the pain was intense, bruising forming in there. She breaths in as she attempted to lounge herself at him aiming to wrap her front legs on each side of his shoulders while her jaws aimed for a firm hold on the region between his shoulder blades trying to do the same tactic she would use when attacking a zebra.

Who the hell is Vellen? is the last thought that runs through his mind before they collide. Colsun has no damn idea what his opponent means by that, but he certainly doesn't think it's very fair if she has a literal god on her side. How is he supposed to compete with that? Ah, whatever. The only god he has ever recognized were his parents, and it is to Alizabeth he throws his metaphorical hands up to channel. Zahra may have Vellen, but Colsun has the world's most badass bitch. He hopes that he's making her proud. The collision of bones is painful. Colsun feels pain ricochet through him, a symphony of nerves set on fire from the impact. He will bruise, too, but now she's got her arms wrapped around him and her teeth into his back and he has more pressing matters to handle. Although his mane is able to absorb some of the bite, he still feels his skin break beneath the strength of her bite. He's not sure if there's blood, only that for the moment he's already dreading the bruises. Her paws slap to either side of him and he feels the sting, skin prickling beneath her claws and blood flowing. Fantastic. Now he just needs to figure out a way to toss her off. Colsun growls as he attempts to turn his head inwards towards her body, jaws snapping forward to attempt to grab onto her right leg and clamp down, hoping to tug her off of him. He bites harder than he usually would for a spar, but he's not trying to break any bones. Lathan would be considered VB at this point.

He had been visiting the jungle. Such a wonderful place, it had so many plants that he could use on others, but he hadn’t brought his bag, this was just for exploration, not collection. He made note of the plants of special interest, sometimes marking a spot on a nearby tree with his claws so it might catch his attention when he came back through. His exploration was cut short, however, by a scent. One that made his nose immediately wrinkle in disgust. A swamp. The smell of rotting and soggy foliage and mud was just…overwhelming. Still, curiosity would get the better of him. He would wander into that swamp, the thick sludgy mud clinging to his paws and ankles, he was taking a bath after this for sure.

Eventually, the swamp would smell different. A faded pride scent. How interesting. The water, he could tell was higher than usual, the watermarks on the trees were not stained or gave the appearance that was where they normally rested. He pressed on further, excited to be learning the ins and outs of another pride…or former pride. Behind his innocent investigation was more malicious intent. It was always good to know the in’s and out’s of a pride…especially if a hasty retreat was necessary.

After squelching a few more steps in the mud, he would huff, finding a stronger scent. Two stronger scents. He followed the scents as quietly as one could in the mud and soggy dirt until he came to a clearing, but the man would hang back, remaining behind the line of sight for the two that stood center stage. What have we here? He wondered quietly, hunkering his dark form down closer to the mud with a grimace of disdain. He would definitely need a bath after this. Silently, he watched as they spoke, they were not enemies, but spoke as if they were comrades, both seeking the throne. After that agreeance, they would burst into action and Lathan, well, the fellow would settle in for the show. Content to remain hidden.

Ears quirked and the yearling arrested her steps. One hanging forepaw slammed down. She waited, statuesque (in manner, not in height). Birds and insects again fritter when the echo of the claim faded. More poignantly, she smelled spring. Its dense humidity, the mix of old rot and flooded new growth. Beneath the echo, giving context to the scent: the rush of small creeks against different, unaccustomed bark. Overflow.

Context to this: lions from unknown places, changing their heading toward swampier lands. Palpatine grinned. "Vultures for the weak and the dead." Her tail jet out with a stiff, tense manner; she moved quickly, joints low and flexed. Muzzle, extended out and low as typical in strange terrain. Whiskers twitching, hungry, vindictive without bitterness, and eyes in their large glaze. Borders absent, diminished: she bounced over them and landed in an imaginary, metaphorical cloud of dust.

Trespassing! She approached the clash of a challenge to achieve her bearings and then circled, scouting.

Bordeaux rarely ventured towards this particular land, the Mire held memories of isolation, loss, and misery. The cherry on top though was Luther, who had approached her when she was preparing to leave. The events that followed stayed with her, and she was reluctant for a continuation of that plotline. When she heard the challenge for the vacant crown, she knew the pale king was gone from here. What had become of Luther? Even just for the opportunity to learn the answer to that, she would brave the, regrettably, familiar lands.

Mismatched eyes would sweep across the landscape, more waterlogged now than any amount of rain could have caused. Perhaps that was the answer.. the lands had flooded, as the Mire was prone to do. Perhaps the Ecrosians had been swept away, or been forced to leave everything behind in a bid to escape the water. Now that the waterline had receded, others seemed to have come forward to try and claim the land.

She would find a dry patch to lie down in, feeling more comfortable with the tall grasses surrounding her. She was not actively trying to hide, merely making herself less obvious to passers-by.

She does not know this Mire, this land that is sticky with mud and ick. She had never been here, because she had never had a reason to be here. Eisa arrived, shortly after the first claimed the land- she was curious to see what kind of pride would root itself here.. and she was not dissapointed when she saw that she arrived at the beginnings of a fight.

Words rocked through her, May vellen pick the best today. and the young Jarl's eyes came to rest on the female challenger who had spoken them. It was not a Sigrun that she knew, but it was one she would get to know. Eisa raised her head, proudly gazing on the female- her support unspoken, but perhaps clear to anyone who looked upon her.

The Sigrun would win, surely? It was time for a rise in the family's power once more.
