You have to tell him he won. Andraesa calls lazily to @Karsa ♔ from the sidelines. She had decided to relax as the elephant calf turned his attentions for her to their watcher, his slobbering baby mouth and nose now occupied with torturing another poor, unsuspecting soul.

Maybe it was cruel to find such joy in the wet torment of strangers. Maybe it was the darkest parts of her psyche that made her want to laugh at it.

Some would argue that her darkest parts could be attributed to the sinking feeling of motherhood. Andraesa did not yet know it, but most mothers would agree that it was very funny when their beloved spawn drove other victims up the wall - that way, they could take a moment to breathe before having to corral their crotch-demons once more.

Unfortunately for Karsa, the scout made no effort to corral her ward and his flailing limbs, even as he began to realize that flinging stone was just as effective as flinging punches. Only her... child... cursing snapped her out of her lazed position.

Aht! She clucked. It is a crass expletive meaning to fornicate. You have no use for this language at your age. Even Andraesa strayed away from such phrasing if she could help it (she was a pompous woman, though the word she used for herself was 'refined.') She would not let the calf become some foul-mouthed simpleton... not if she could help it...

"fine," he exclaims, vaguely registering the sound of the kid slipping or toppling over entirely. with the glare that karsa shoots up at @Andraesa, he doesn't have much time to take a good look at what's happened. "you win!" the man says, eyes turning towards the elephant and ears folding back against his mane. just as karsa's gaze lands on the boy, he sees a chunk of rock flying towards his face. karsa barely moves out of the way in time, taking it to the shoulder instead of right in the mouth.

the scent of fresh blood hits karsa's nose and he turns to look increduously at his torn open shoulder. no way he'd let a drooling elephant calf do that to him. "shit, dude, you're going to kill someone doing that!" he's halfway between distress and anger over it. really, karsa should retaliate, but he can't bring himself to beat on a kid that's already fallen down and apparently can't get back up.

Ardghal's chunky legs would sprint in place — in air as he tried his hardest to get up. But the calf would pause, audible panting infiltrating the area as rested on his side for a while longer. 'you win!' Legs would stop thrashing as he thought about it. He won? Ears would wiggle against the ground as weight shifted so that he rolled onto his back and then rocked back onto his feet.

Yippie! The calf would trumpet while stiffly limping over to @Andraesa, his trunk wiggling low in front of his face in excitement. Momma! I won! His eyes gleam in youthful glee and excitement but he would turn back towards @Karsa ♔. Sorry for launching a rock at you mister! Ardghal would innocently offer, but was he actually sorry? Absolutely not! The calf had so much fun!

But I'll only fight others you say are okay to fight from now on, momma. The calf would relent before reaching over towards a random piece of limestone and then sticking it in his mouth - in a test to see if it was food. By slowly the calf would look over his right side and left side — checking for injuries.

karsa might be the clear loser of whatever scuffle had just broken out, but he's glad to have the opportunity to escape. whatever shenanigens were happening here (did that kid just call @Andraesa his mom?), karsa was finding he wanted no part of it. especially if it meant more stray rocks thrown his way. at the apology, the young savante lets out a grunt of acknowledgement.

i'll only fight others you say are okay to fight from now on, momma.

the kid couldn't have come to that conclusion ten minutes ago? preferably before almost making karsa's head go splat? "good luck with that." he says flatly, to andraesa. evidently, the woman was going to need all the luck she could get. before @Ardghal decides to spit the rock he was slobbering on and go for a second dive at his tail or mane, karsa quickly makes his exit.

The stranger takes his defeat and leave without another expletive, and for that, Andraesa would have thanked him if he were not so keen to disappear. She tracks his movements as he escapes, lilac eyes narrowed.

She hadn't even caught the stranger's allegiance in the scuffle, had she?

That is two wins for you in the span of an afternoon. The lioness remarks as she rises and shakes the dust away from her flaxen pelt. I guess one of us is better at conceding than the other, then, hm?

The calf had been right. His time in the Pit had made him stronger, faster, more capable of protecting himself than most lions would ever give him credit for. More capable than she had given him credit for, really.

I will find you proven warriors. Those who are battle-tested, masters of their field. That way you will actually have a challenge when you train. She reaches up with a gentle paw to examine the boy's trunk, seeing little more than the cat-scratches she had landed. A rumble leaves her then, and she moves to bump the child with her head as if he were a cub in need of a comforting snuggle.

Let us get something on these to make them feel better, yeah?

He was uninjured with most of the beating behind absorbed by the thick flesh that made up a majority of his hide. A soft sigh of relief was released from the youngster as his butt wiggles back and forth in excitement. Mouth would continue to work at the thick piece of limestone that refused to break and give sustenance; it wasn't food. The calf would give a small rumble in disappointment before curling his trunk up to his mouth and plucking it out and then lobbing it a short distance away.

Thank you, mister! The calf would jovially call at the back of his playmate. Wait was he leaving? Already? They just started playing! The calf would begin to toddle after him, a small trumpet being released to try to call him back, to challenge him, anything — but he was already gone. not fair, the calf would call at his back before turning around and peering curiously at @Andraesa as she started looking over his trunk.

mooooooom, the calf would complain with ears fanning forward in an attempt to regulate his own temperature. Yippie! Warriors! Healing! Yes! The calf would singsong before giving the spot Karsa disappeared at a long look in fleeting sadness before skipping out, he so intent on finding trees; the thought of herbs already forgotten.
