the winter is like home. she's comfortable in the frozen arena, relishing the sweeping snowfall. it catches in her lashes and at the tip of her nose but it does little to deter her from her cause. brighid is beginning to heal from the deathly battle in her homelands and it has lit a flame beneath her to get better, do better. she drags her claws against a boulder to sharpen them as she waits, impossibly unphased as her claws make a shrill screeeeching noise against the whetstone. she looks about for an opponent, calling out for them to make their move and pull no punches as she prepares.

after one paw, the other follows. she scratches at the stone with a calmness that is particularly unnerving. before she's able to finish a challenger arrives and brighid looks up from the stone and her claws, stopping in the middle of her work. they say something that the ivory warrioress does not understand, but words had no place on the battlefield anyway, did they? instead, she notes the way that the other lioness poises herself for a fight and brighid nods her acknowledgement.

the woman peels herself away from the boulder and lopes towards her opponent. she is not fast, but she is strong and brighid seeks to fully take advantage of her greater size against her smaller target. she raises her left arm as she approaches head on and attempts to violently throw it over the gray lioness' shoulder. brighid's claws curl to try and hook into the skin on her back to hold her in place. her jaws snake in from the opposite side in an attempt to tear into the side of her foe's neck where it meets her shoulder.

her claws aim true as her arm is slung over the gray lioness' back. she attempts to keep it there as her opponent fights against the onslaught of her heavy weight, trying to shred the skin along her back. brighid is far too locked in on trying to gnash her fangs into the side of her foe's neck that she is caught entirely off guard at the pawful of claws that come up to slap her away. lacerations score deep across her cheek and the ivory once-queens snarls furiously. her head feels like its rattling from the force of the blow. she hears the lioness' teeth snapping mere centimeters from her nose and she decides that if she wants to keep her face intact, she had best find a better target. quickly, brighid attempts to try and clamp her opponent's wrist in her jaws and the bite the hand that so savagely drew her blood.

like a scavenger fighting for the last ribbons of meat over a sun spoiled bone, brighid growls around her opponent's wrist. she can feel the prickle of claws tearing at the sensitive flesh of her mouth. blood overwhelms her senses- she smells it, tastes it, feels it. her shoulder stings from the other woman's onslaught and brighid decides that she's beginning to tire of this savage waltz they've found themselves in. the arm that she slung over her foe's back attempts to find its way back to the ground while slashing down her side. simultaneously, she aims to withdraw back a step and shake her head voraciously with her teeth still latched into the other woman's wrist before letting go. it could damage her mouth more but blood and adreneline drive her.

blood froth as it leaks from her mouth. like a dog on a bone, brighid does not relent her prize. she wants to gnash her fangs together and break the ankle, to feel bones shatter and clatter beneath her force. though the claws tearing through the tender flesh of her mouth cause her to let go although there's a sinister voice begging her to ruin the woman and render her crippled.

those fangs that were snapping in her face are suddenly closer. they're hot with a feral rage that brighid narrowly manages to avoid only because she had chosen to release her grip. those teeth scratch against her face, parting the fur and once queen brighid snarls. it rattles in the air between them, blood and spittle staining their paws as she determines this is enough. her eyes narrow at her opponent, lackluster at first glance, though brighid cannot ignore the prowess that she holds within her paws.

she knows when enough is enough. it aches to be bested, her claws yearning to lash out again but she fastens herself to the ground. "well done." a token of her respect as she attempts to lock eyes with the other woman, unsure if she would even understand her.
