the winds whispered softly to the princess as she wandered beyond the confines of the plains, beckoning her out into the wilds of the world. the quintessential toddler phase had nearly ended by this point, and faie found her confidence growing. she had overcome a slight cold (that had likely awarded to her after one too many nights staying up late) that had overtaken the last several weeks, confining her to the den and many boring afternoons – but now that she felt better, it was oh-so desperately that she wanted to enjoy the last few days of autumn while it lasted. the temperatures had dropped significantly, and she just knew in her tiny heart that winter would soon be upon them. it was a terrible realization for the girl, who simply wanted to revel in the warmth of summer, plucking flowers and playing games for all of her days – oh, the tragedy of it all!
and so it was today, in the light of the sun, that faie found herself amongst the gardens – or, err, what was left of them, anyways. most of the wildflowers had withered away by now due to the cold, which brought a small pout to the babe’s face – but her attention quickly shifted towards a series of crunchy looking leaves that had fallen at the base of a nearby tree. interesting. opting to test her luck there, instead, the princess moved beneath the thin shadows of the branches, head falling to one side as she observed the dry, brittle leaves of brown and amber hues, before tentatively reaching out a paw and pressing it down into the foliage. crunch – crunch, crunch, crunch. finding that she quite enjoyed the sound of that, and the feeling of the small leaves withering away between her toes, faie would continue occupying herself idly, content, for now, to revel in her solitude.

The sea was both god and devil, perception shifted by its violent wrath on full display. Days turned to weeks, then months. Karsus almost felt as if he himself had been an imposter. That his time as a prince had been nothing but a fever dream. Anger boils over in the depths of his tiny chest. A rotting sensation from deep inside.
All of Nusuri's teachings couldn't save him that pain.
So far, the imp had grabbed a flamingo fledgling. The ugly ass bird wedged firmly between his milk teeth--alive, but barely. When the agitation of his situation got him, Karsus squeezed. It squawked and flailed but could not break his hold. Already he'd grown more, he'd started to venture farther and farther--for better or worse. Uncaring how dangerous this world was outside the protection of the shithead Kvare.
Outside of his reality, the Sovereign had meant well. He extended grace to the blood of his enemy, unknowingly of course. But the boy was one track minded. How could you blame him? His whole world changed in the span of a single night. But Karsus is a spiteful boy. A hateful creature. Even a saint would seem like a demon to him at this point.
crunch....crunch, crunch
The sound catches his ears. They swivel to determine direction, and potential size. Curiosity got the better of him, desperately wanting to see its source. Surprised when he comes across the form of a bigger cub, enjoying their time in the death of summer.
He stands awkwardly, dying prey in his jaws. Duel toned eyes observing, judging. How dare someone have fun! In his presence of all things...
@Faie
Faie was content to indulge in this mindless and simple pastime, her body spinning, twirling, and pouncing onto the autumn leaves that covered the earth. She daydreamed as she went, her thoughts trailing, mind wandering – until there was a sudden shift in the air that forced her back down from the clouds, originating from the sound of a weak and helpless squawk. The pixie’s gaze snapped up in response, her movements slowing as she spun upon amber-coated heels, expecting, perhaps, anything other than what now stood before her.
Because now, over there, was a boy – cloaked in wheat and ash and staring quite intently in her direction. His expression brought her to further pause, muscles freezing as she wondered why exactly he was looking at her like that. Do I have something on my face? Faie noted that he seemed a bit younger than she, maybe, albeit the fact that they were close in size – but, in the end, that was not what caught the girl’s attention the most. Rather, it was the tiny bird that hung between his jaws, flailing or fluttering occasionally, that turned her eye and forced her lips down into a small sort of frown. It was not dead (not quite, anyways) and there was something jarring about seeing that small, innocent fledging speckled with blood.Hi,
She tried after a moment upon light, airy tones, forcing down a gulp as she sought to rid herself of the uncertainty now swelling in her chest. Am I doing something wrong?
Faie asked next, opting to ignore the obvious desire to inquire about the poor bird. As the question hung across the air between them, the babe’s brow would give a slight perch whilst she wondered, absently, where he had come from — but maybe that would be her next question.
