She had left the Bluffs in the middle of the night, her hunger for power growing as she left the borders and began her descent into the valley. Paws tread carefully, ears pricked forward and alert as she walks calmly towards her destination. Vermeda Brook. She felt she could wait no longer. Now was the time to make her move as her children grew quickly before her eyes and the burden of her aging hung over her head. She had not alerted @Arcania ♔ of her rash decision, figuring that her pride mates would hear her challenge as soon as she issued it.

As she approaches the borders she brushes her paw pads against the scent line, an intentional move to show her disrespect about staying out. She moves deeper into the territory, a ghost in the night with a mission. To take, scare, and control. When she is satisfied with how far she has ventured into their home, the ivory serpent unleashes a call. She wanted to hear the war cries and alarm in their voices at her audacity to break in and challenge for their home. She did not know who ruled these lands nor did she care. Louve had not mentioned the Brook as an ally and the valley’s fertile land and fresh water was simply too sweet to resist.

She had known the shortly the lioness had taken a single step into her land that she was there, having been patrolling her borders in the dead of night because she couldnt sleep. But she didn't know what exactly was her purpose in trespassing so far into the lands. The scent was that of the Bluffs... to her knowledge the Brook had no qualms with the Bluffs, so why exactly was this lioness making her way so brazenly into her land? As soon as the pale lioness called out her challenge, Cassandra was ready. She knew this land better than the bitch who chose to try to challenge for it, and she would be damned if she let this go unanswered.

Taking care to be quiet and hidden, Cassandra would stalk around behind her, watching her for a moment before suddenly launching herself forward. A vicious snarl ripped from her muzzle as she aimed to leap onto the light lioness's back. Teeth would aim to grab deep into the back of her neck while claws sought to grab onto Icefang's shoulders. Her intent would be to hurt, and this lioness would forever be marked as an enemy, and she would attack her on-sight after this. And perhaps even the Bluffs would be considered an enemy since they had so brazenly sought to take what belonged to the natives.

Of course, the melanistic cub wanted to support her mother, regardless of how late it was. She should be asleep by now, but she was way too xurious and excited to help herself. And without question, she went after her mother, staying close but keeping a calm expression.

She arrived, and her eyes checked the surroundings. the place was pretty and soft-looking. Running water and soft smells. This looked way different to what she was used to, and this made her feel excited. Finally, she spotted her mother already into the fray with the stranger. Quietly, she used a tree to sharpen her claws and then sit down to observe the fight.

She was curious how long she would have to wait to meet this high sovereign. Though her question was answered immediately as an ear flicks back at the rustle behind her followed by a snarl. Icefang barely has a moment to look back before a lioness is upon her. She releases her own battle cry when the pain hits her from Cassandra’s sharp teeth and claws piercing her flesh. She is unable to see her attacker, assuming this was likely the leader as she immediately throws herself onto the earth to the left in an attempt to crush the lioness with her weight and get her to loosen her grip. Ears pin back, the adrenaline pumping through her as her skull turns to the right, her jaws snapping desperately to grab onto Cassandra’s right front leg or any part of her really.

When @Cassandra had mentioned protecting the pride, Matti had agreed without hesitation—of course, he would protect those willing to offer him their home. But damn, he sure hadn't expected it to be so soon. He heard the call for challenge and took off towards its source, coming up quickly onto the two lionesses, his new Queen and a ghostly stranger, already in the midst of a tangled mess of extended claws and bared teeth at the border.

Another was already there was well, watching. A cub by the looks of it, though as she was no threat, he kept his attention on the fight before him, glancing around often for the likes of any others that might intrude on their lands.

Kovirah is attempting to hide

It's been awhile, since he's heard a challenge ring out. The lands have calmed significantly since the Saxe disappeared, and his beloved little bird returned with her cubs. Right to where they needed to be, safe and sound in the band and its caverns. In doing so, Kovirah had elected to step down and let a new Rook rise. This didn't, however, keep him from snooping around when he's interested in what exactly was going on.

The brook is a nice place, it's lush and green and reminds him of home. Weirdly enough. Fee places in Amaryllis did.

The clay male rolls in the grass. He brushes along the trees as he approaches, finding a place in the underbrush to watch the fight ensue. Stormy blue watches: the white woman is attacked by who he assumes is the Brooks leader. Fearsome, sneaky, he approved her for the first move. Better to knock the person down and catch them off guard. The pale lioness snaps her jaws and Kovirah waits to see if it catches its target. This would be an interesting fight, indeed.

She was like a shadow in the night. All too often she roamed in the darkness, so when Icefang's call went out she wasn't roused from sleep. Not in the traditional sense anyway. She was, in a way, roused to action.

She made her way to the Brook, beaten there by her younger sister, but that was perhaps to be expected if @Obsidiana had followed Icefang from the Bluffs to begin with. Watch and learn, little sister, she said, her voice a sadistic coo as her claws dug eagerly into the dirt underneath her. She was waiting for the response from the Brook lions, waiting for them to start their braying. Just give her a reason to sink her claws into one of them. Namely, at the moment, looking funny at her sibling.

There were few on the Brook side, for the moment, but she knew as they were roused by the sound of battle they would flood in. She was prepared for the potential onslaught, ready to defend her family, if nothing else.

For once, it seemed, she had found a reason to fight.

Unlike his mother, Temero was woken from his sleep when his grandmother's voice rang out. He knew what that call meant, if only because he'd heard it recently for the Bluffs. Twice, actually. He'd guessed this was coming, privy to his mother's comings and goings and the knowledge that something was going on that he was still too young and unlearned to be part of. Well, now he knew.

He expected that his presence would be expected, and so he hastened to make his way down from the Bluffs to join the gathering crowd. His younger aunt, Obsidiana, wasn't far away, and he took a page out of her book as he settled himself in several feet behind and to the side of his mother. He sharpened his claws on a nearby rock, methodically skimming them across its surface like he'd been taught.

A glance was spared at mother, but that feverish look in her eye scared him in a way he couldn't explain. So he turned away, watching the fight, studying Icefang's attacks as she threw herself to the side and attempted to latch on to her opponent. He committed this move to memory, knowing that one day he too would need to fight.

What? Cassi frowned as she Heard the roaring call of challenge and stepped towards the source of the sound. Already as she arrived, the dark girl saw both @Icefang ♔ and @Cassandra locked in battle. Ears fell against her skull as teal eyes searched the crowd for her family. A frown touched her mouth as she stomped towards the two women fighting. Stoppit!!!. The child didn't know what it was about - but she knew they needed to knock it off! It wasn't very nice!

A foot stamped the ground. Big mean white lady! I'm sorry your papa never hugged you and your face got stuck all skowly! But you need to be NICER!. The small girl stamped her paw against frowning at the pair and looking about as threatening as a damp bunny slipper. ITS OKAY THO! ILL HUG YOU! Just...stop attacking miss Cass!

She was coming from the grove when she hears the challenging roar echo in the air. It was close, too close for comfort, and it didn't take Isla long to realize it was the Brook that was being challenged for. Her eyes shift toward the darkened sky, watching as starts twinkled above and small clouds attempt to block out the light of the moon. Was this the second time now that another laid an attack on her family's home while it were dark? The thought made the Scillan Queen scowl; this one was no better than Aeistrios.

Isla sets in the direction of Vermeda, her pace quick. She hits the borders not too long after hearing the call, pushing past and continuing onward toward the sounds of yelling and battle. Ears cup forward as she spots a young cub seemingly trying to get Cassandra and this woman to cease in their actions. "Do not distract your High Sovereign," comes the woman's clipped words, drawing next to the girl (@Cassiopia). "Fighting is a way of life in Amaryllis, and tonight will be no different." Muscles tense as Isla stays alert, eyes shifting between the fight and those that had already gathered. She could scent the Bluffs in the air, but was it from the few others that were here or from the challenger herself she couldn't decipher.
