Being brought up by Tiamat within Ecrosia then the Lagoon, she was no stranger to war, fighting and blood. Not a stranger to the turmoil of life that rolled and demanded its prizes and so knowing that the lead medic position was open, she called. Carina called forth anyone who might oppose her for the right to be the pride's main medic. Not for glory, not for them — but for her because this was her purpose in life. She had known it since she was just a child and had taught herself both of her trades well-enough to be a professional by the time she had turned two. Either leader could turn her away but she would take the rejection in stride. The only risks you fail are the one's you don't take, right?

Wanting to do more for the pride had been weighing heavily on Jiera's mind. She was able to create such a fine garden of all the plants and herbs she usually used, was able to breathe now that she had the protection of a pride at her back, and all she needed now was more of a purpose. Something that would really make her get up and move every morning. It wouldn't be until she hears a call ring out for the lead medic position that she didn't realize what she wanted until then, and even though the healer was no fighter she was ambitious enough to show that she wanted this. Paws carry her quickly toward the call, green eyes soon landing upon the lioness that she assumed had released the challenge. "I would like to go against you," comes her comment, keeping her tone of voice strong and steady. Her body moves into defenses on instinct, ears twisting backward to lay upon her head while her toes flex to unsheathe her claws. A look is given to the other, telling her that it would be her move first.

It was a pleasant and welcoming surprise when someone came to greet her. It wasn't any of the leaders that she was familiar with so her immediate response was even better that it was someone willing to take her up on a challenge. I vould be honored. Carina bowed her head gently to her newly met opponent and lowered her head just barely. Giving herself a good inhale and exhale, before surging forwards. Chin draped over her chest, upon her move forward she lifted her head just enough to attempt to slam her right shoulder into the middle of the chartreuse lioness' chest. Letting her breathing come naturally as she shifted into a position as a fighter rather than the skilled medic that she was. Fighting was nice... when others did it and she got to be the one to fix it.

He certainly isn't going to turn down the opportunity to watch two attractive women duke it out over a rank. Maybe it's a bit self serving that he sneaks closer, quietly slumping onto his haunches to get comfortable and cozy. The lion recognizes both their scents and vaguely their faces, but he's quite lazy the recluse when it comes to socializing lately and their names escape him.

Colsun knows whoever ends up being lead medic will be an invaluable asset to the pride, but maybe the loser will need some patching up herself. With kisses.

A call for the lead medic position — how very interesting. The opening left behind by Sybil's departure still bothers the cannibal Queen, so it feels good to know there are others within the pride seeking to become something... More. To take on a position that might better help the pride in the future. Her gaze lingers on @Colsun as she approaches the fight, giving him a quick nod of her head in acknowledgement before focusing her gaze on the combatants next — @Jiera and @Carina.

It would be an interesting pairing for sure. The earthen lioness had already been on Ludivine's mind to place in a position of power in the future, but it feels good to see Carina stepping forth from the shadows to claim a little piece for herself. The monarch settles herself on her haunches at the edge of the battlegrounds, eager to see them fight.

Jiera was by all means no fighter. She had never enjoyed it when she was younger with her siblings and she didn't enjoy it whenever she was ambushed many, many moons ago at the pit. But now there was a reason why she were partaking in such a barbaric interaction, and the need to be the victor far outweighed her nervousness about fighting. Green eyes narrow upon the lioness as she surges toward her, the healer's body tensing and claws gripping into the ground to ready herself for impact.

She feels a shoulder hit her square in the chest, causing for her breath to be forcefully released and to stumble back a pawstep or two. She could feel a bruise already blossoming, the ache of each breath a reminder of what she were doing. Jiera wastes no time, left forelimb rising. Her paw attempts to strike forward and toward the other's face, attempting to drag it across whatever flesh her claws could get ahold of. Whether or not this was a good battle move Jiera did not know, but for now it would have to do.

There was a distinct resolution in the way that she found in the here or now. Truthfully, she did not fight just to win. Carina fought to be someone better than what she was. A rank was beautiful and it would serve her well but she did this for the livelihood of the lions that had shown up today like @Colson and @Ludivine and even the one's that were keeping their distance. Carina only wanted honor and she would get it, some way or another.

As her shoulder had collided, so too did the air burst from her own lungs as they collided. It took only a few seconds for her opponent's left paw to collide against the right side of Carina's face. Leaving some minor lacerations from the corner of her right eye and to the middle of her cheek. Carina then made for the same motion and rose her left foreleg to attempt to mirror the movement and try and swipe at the right side of the large lioness' face.

It feels unnatural to her, the way her claws tore into the tender flesh upon the other's face. Jiera watched as the blood began to seep from the wounds she had created, left paw hitting the ground with a thud. Her attack would be reciprocated back upon her as she felt the slap of a paw followed by the sting of tearing skin on the right side of her face. She hisses in a breath, the corners of her eyes beginning to water but not allowing for tears to fall and blind her. Instead, the chartreuse woman takes the opportunity to snap her jaws at the other's left foreleg, attempting to grab ahold of the middle portion of it. Maybe if she thwarted the lioness' balance that it may give her a leg up, anything to help her win this.

With her opponent's leg going back down to the ground, Carina's followed suit. Though very quickly the other's teeth found themselves puncturing the skin upon her left shoulder leaving behind moderate wounds. Teeth were no joke but it did not, at the moment, feel as though they were one's that would require a whole lot of heavy medical work. Thankfully, between the two of them, wounds would be of little issue. Though with the lioness' neck somewhat more exposed with their position, Carina sought to make the calculated move and attempted to put her own teeth upon the flesh of Jiera's neck. Aiming to do so just enough for a grip but not enough to truly wound.

She narrowly catches the leg, instead feeling her teeth grip at the woman's left shoulder. Jiera gives a good squeeze, not one to harm the woman much but enough to show that she had, in fact, landed a blow as intended. Jiera is in the process of removing herself from the other's shoulder when she feels jaws grab at the side of her neck. It sends her into a panic, almost causing for her to freeze. Instead, her mind tells her to do the only thing it could think of: claw. She raises her right forepaw and attempts to strike it toward the woman. She batted her paw at anything it could touch, trying to figure out a better solution in trying to get out of the hold she were currently in.
