One hunt couldn't possibly be enough, not when their numbers still swell both in those joining, as well as those being birthed into the pride. It meant that their adults required sustenance in order to keep themselves in prime condition to defend the pride.

Ludivine doesn't call for the pride this time, at least not audibly — but she prowls through the night instead, quiet to see if she can find something first. But her scent is heavy on the winds as she hunts, enough to perhaps beckon forth those that might wish to join their Queen in her kill. Eventually, there would be a most taboo meal to grace their reserves as well, once her children's teeth become capable of sinking into the flesh of their own kind. A smile — she's looking forward to it. But for now, sustenance must be something everyone can enjoy and feast upon.

There is no call this time to bid him from his patrol, but the moment he catches the note of her scent in the breeze he is moved from the borders to join her. He prowled through the underbrush in the quiet of the night, careful steps through the thick of the verdant groves and the slough of misplaced snow with eyes and ears kept alert. As their pride bustled with the coming of new life, the need for supplying the cache grew with it and he was intent to keep stores brim no matter the expense.

Gauthier watched the soft snow for the press of prints, keeping wary of the smell of what prey may find themselves wandering through the lush forest.

One of the last hunts that she had ever participated in- though participated was used in the loosest of terms- was with her mother and there was a stab of sad familiarity to that, when she felt the pull of a hunt- the scent of prey wafting by the tree she rested against... Yet, this hunt was not along the Lagoon's shores- was not with her mother. Was not... It wasn't the same, and she could no longer dwell on that. She had been resting for a few moments in between her nightly wandering- to explore the territory thoroughly in the shadows and darkness.

That scent of prey though? That musky warm, enticing scent...

She had risen silently to her feet, following the trail for a few moments before she thought she scented something familiar, and veered towards it. When through the shadows, she noted the scent became stronger of others, she was near silent with her soft chuff of greeting, and she would move along to position herself within the shadows- to do her best in helping them to bring it down.

She is sitting outside her den, staring up at the night sky when a scent hits her nose. Nostrils flare as the healer takes in several deep breaths, noting both predator and prey nearby. She shifts, slowly getting to all fours and giving herself a quick shake. The lioness begins to move, following the scent of prey as well as the one of Ludivine. It seemed as though another hunt would be underway, and Jiera wanted to be there to show she wasn't just a body taking up space and resources within the pride. She moves slow, cautious as she takes her steps, soon coming from behind her Queen but staying silent as she fell in step with the stalk.

Carina arrived to the hunt with quiet steps. Not wishing to alert the prey to her arrival but nor did she wish to interrupt her pride mates. So far she hadn't exactly gotten a chance to show her worth to her leaders (that's what you get when you joined a pride full of medics) but she could at least show up to the hunts and give them a reason to keep her (and Taraji). If it was one thing she prided herself on it was showing up for her pride when they needed an extra boost and a hunt was no different.

The scent of the beast was massive, and she'd kept following it- studying the strange musky scent. And the animal they had found, was massive- and had sharp curled horns. It was black or... dark brown, the shadows made it hard to tell and it was huge. She had found it daunting, but there was a lingering thing about it that felt off... and when her pride mates surrounded it- Taraji knew she couldn't back down. She swallowed her fear down, and threw herself into the hunt. She aimed to use her speed to help bring the beast down, and her teeth firmly latched into it's flesh. When it finally sank to the earth, she let it go and stood there beside the carcass- working to catch her breath, as she looked around at her pride mates. She felt exhilarated, and proud, and wondered what would happen now.

Taraji is hanging around for some interactions!

A beautiful catch zhere, Taraji. She called after the girl as she made to hustle close to the peach-colored girl. She would be reaching her second year very soon and would no longer be classified as a girl or a child, but an adult fresh unto the world. Carina came in close to her ward and aimed to give a gentle nudge of her head to the lioness' shoulder. Glee and gratitude coursing through her veins at seeing the girl take charge and build confidence in herself at a job well done. Every hit counted and the girl had certainly showed her might in this case.

Though the scent was not as familiar to him as gazelle or – may the gods forbid – flamingo, the hulking shadow of the horned beast was of an unwelcome recognition. Its massive bulk swung, its heavy skull taunting the onslaught of his pridemates, and he remembered the wretch that had emerged from the mists in Wolfbron. Though this was smaller by slight, he did not doubt that it was just as deadly with its bucking hooves and sharpened horns, and he was keen to not find himself in their piercing thrust again.

The lionesses charged - instigating its panic, its guttural defiance to lay down and die, and the one blessing he accepted for its danger was that it was not swift. A battering ram just as well, its muscles heaved and waded the thick green, no match for their cunning and claws.

Gauthier was not so unwise as to challenge its horns again; he lunged for its flank as it tossed and stomped, parading its regalia of lion-meat, and dug his teeth deep into its haunch. His claws wrapped into the bull’s hips, and his back feet dug in the dirt, acting as an anchor for the rest to make their kill. With great exhalations of frustration and the denial of death it floundered and swung, kicked, brayed, but was ultimately felled by their skills.

They would all have their fill without the worry of sharing tonight – and perhaps, for following nights. More than a meager meal, he took his scraps gleefully and appraised his hunting mates. Well done, all. But there was more work to be done. He sighed sharply, his eyes roving over what was left. Now we just have to drag the bastard off._{BG — ART — CODE}

Without hesitation, and without the need for Gauthier's prompt, Carina was moving forward to help in the relocation of their mighty meal. Pushing herself into its core and helping to drag the beast back to their caches. With Taraji nearby it was likely the girl might help but Carina hoped that she would choose on her own to help with what came after every hunt. They would need to be vigilant in their help during these things and it was important to show your strength and your willingness to assist others within the pride that would take her much further. exit carina
