Being able to wrap his leg around the other's neck would be a short lived victory, and even as claws dug into the skin and his teeth managed to pinch skin under mane he knew that a move like this could possibly come with unsavory results. The smack of bone on bone was enough to cause his jaws to clench in pain as well as attempting to pinch harder on what he had a hold of before he is forced to release his short-lived hold. The throbbing in his head was sudden, a headache growing and causing for his eyes to narrow in irritation and pain.

Snapping his head away from Kvare and hoping to gain some distance between both of their jaws, Arkyn attempts to wrap his right front leg around his neck just like his left. He were attempting to use his weight to push the man down, as well as hoping his claws would sink into the flesh. He now steadies himself on his hind legs, keeping himself as balanced as he could, hind paws moving in small steps to help keep him upright.

His move was a success, and he felt the freedom of @Arkyn's slipping grip. But it came at a heavy cost, and a pain unfurled across his jaws like none other, leaving him incapable of completely opening them for the remainder of the battle. He could feel fatigue begin to settle in, his wounds begin to seep and clot. His opponent reels, and Kvare sucks in a breath, attempting to wane the burning in his lungs. He feels the man's other arm wrap around his neck, feels the brunt of his weight pushed down on him. He feels his injured paw beginning to slip, the crack in his armor that could let the flood seep through.

But he holds on, barely. Kvare is nearly keeled over as Arkyn rises, and it takes his last remaining strength to keep his hold. There is nothing he could do here, except—

He closes his eyes, and gives himself only the brief split-second of time to execute his final attack. Should he linger for even a breadth longer, he would collapse, but it is a chance he must take. Kvare allows his limbs to go limp, and he immediately bends, drawing dangerously close to the ground. At the last minute, he braces his legs (even his injured one, which now screams with pain), and attempts to use the downward momentum to thrust himself upward, attempting to throw Arkyn's weight off of him entirely.

He can feel his body growing tired, their brutal battle making his muscles ache and scream. The injuries he'd sustained would surely scar and tell the story of this challenge, win or lose. He attempts to use all his weight to push down on Kvare, successful until he feels the sudden drop. Arkyn has to brace himself, causing for his toes to curl and attempting to sink even deeper into flesh, to use his opponent's body as leverage and to help stabilize himself. He should have known that with this move there was a chance that the man before him could use it to his advantage. Just as the thought crosses his mind he feels Kvare thrust upward, causing for hind legs to scramble and stutter in attempts to keep him upright. Arkyn attempts to tighten his hold around the man's neck as this happens; if he's going down, he would do what he could to get Kvare down with him.

Typhoon found his face growing in anger when he heard the call for challenge, a challenge to Kvare's throne. He knew life was never something to take for granted, nothing beside death was set in stone. All king rose and fell, thrones collapsed but also formed every time. But his anger came mostly because he had settled here, because he had already made this pride his own. A pride he wanted to slowly rise into ranks, and if somone took it his chances might drop with it. He did have a sort of care for those he served, but the ultimate goal for him was power and his own gain. Slefish indeed, but that was just how he was rised.

He arrived to the scene, sitting near @Sunder, there to offer her protection should somone tried to harm her with the king occupied and unnable to fight for her.

He watched the fight as he sharpened his claws using the sand beneath. "Kvare is going to win, you can tell his battle strategy is better and more useful than the challenger's." He said to himself but also anyone else who might want to discuss this with him. But if not he could always discuss with himself.

Truthfully Florentina has no interest in the Cove other than watching for any tiny morsel of drama that may spark from the challenge. The bronze piebald had a gnack for sniffing out challenges but by the time she had meandered her way closer the fight was already well underway. She could appreciate the form of both men fighting, but for appearances sake didn't want to tip her hand in knowing of @Arkyn. The woman would find a spot nearest to @Imogen, nonchalantly moving to sit beside her. She stretches her front paws out, wiggling her toes in the sand. It almost reminded her of the Oasis, but the sand here was certainly different. Much cooler than the desert sand. "Do you know them?" She asks curiously, turning so her green eyes could focus on Imogen entirely for a moment. "I'm Tina." She introduces herself before shifting her attention back onto the men fighting. Her tail would curl lightly around her paws as she continued to observe, occasionally allowing her gaze to shift to those from the pride before returning back to the combatants.

She cannot believe this! Another Another comes for the throne of the Cove?! Can Marja have nothing? Can she have no peace? She storms towards the sounds of battle, curses and rants spilling from her lips as she enters the area, her voice loud, and as usual, proud.

"pust tvoi glaza vypodut!" She hollered, as she enters, and notices it is the same male who fought Sunder before. "LESSER MALE!" She screeches angrily. The Queen had bested him, had he not learned his place! "pust tvoi glaza vypodut!" Seething and angry words, as she lashes her tail, and then prays out to Gromm. "blagoslovi korolya siloy!" She chants and prays to her god- having faith that he will do just that.

He is near the Cove when he hears the call, the challenge and while he is confused, he approaches- moving more confidently when he scents someone else of the Hollows. He follows the scent, approaching the other female he didn't know with a gentle chuff, before he would move to sit near her. "I'm Enver. We're uh... I'm in the Hollows too." He said almost sheepish, before he looked to the fight. "Do we know either of these?" He asked quietly, curiously, as he looked at the females- noting the one she now sat beside. @Florentina

He watches the tail end of the fighting, curious to see who will emerge the victor, his nose twitching as he studies the strange scent of the Cove- marking it to memory, and thinking about the differences between the Cove's scent and the Hollow's own. How strange.

once again, he returns to the beach.

it's not to the same place, though. here the beach curves instead of jutting into the ocean; here, it is more solidly established. this was not two lions fighting over a scrap of empty land -- this was someone trying to take. truthfully he's curious more than anything. what would an upheaval look like in these lands? a staged invasion, a hostile takeover -- he's seen plenty before, and helped coordinate even more. here, though, it appears to be a sole lion vying for the throne.

lucian is careful to mind the borders, peering from a perch in a place decidedly neutral. his choice of perch was rather boring but he could see quite a bit, and that mattered more. the palm trees dotting the beach were useful things to note, if only for the fruit they bore. even from here can see the most notable landmark of the cove, the rock-face protecting it from the sea beyond. idly he was curious what it might look like closer up, but he wasn't about to summon the wraith to see it. instead he sits, poised and patient, curious to see who will win, here.

What an awful disruption to what once had been a perfectly fine day. Thaïs had been especially greedy, having hoarded a few good portions from the cache and hidden them among the territory for later. They had been, of course, her most favored selections, and the princess would be damned if her father or brothers had beaten her to them. She had been somewhat suspicious by the lack of parental supervision at first, having found sneaking away to be far easier than it usually was, but as she finally encroached upon the growing commotion on the border, Thaïs suddenly understood why.

There'd been a fight. Her father was bloodied, heaving and panting. Her mother stood silent and soldiered on the sidelines, her gaze ever-intent on the King's victory. Across from him, an opponent larger than him, but just as bloodied, just as driven to tire by his bloodlust, his ambition. Excitement welled in her chest, pale blue eyes widening with wonder upon the show. He were here for her father's throne—no, her throne. Everything began and ended with her.

She spotted her half-siblings intertwined between the adult legs of @Sunder and @Lagertha, and the youngest princess swiftly came to join them. She was far smaller than her older siblings, but she carried herself in a way as if she weren't; her head was held high, a clever, girlish smirk unfurling upon her dark lips. She'd arrived just in time to catch the @Neeha and @Keelia's hushed speculations.

He's the poopstain that fought against momma a little while ago.

Haha! she snickered, coming to settle between the two girls. He a big poopstain. Bigger than daddy.

Why wasn't Kvare larger, then? Were he and Sunder not Gods in her eyes? How else could such perfection have been born to mere mortals?

She warred with herself the entire way there. Habit was not an easy thing to break, and Hekate had always made a point to stay away from such squabbles over turf. However, the young royal had been nearby that morning when the call rang out; whether she was sneaking back to Ecrosia or heading out to a more vast land, no one would ever know.

Sunrise painted her coat in tangerine waves as she approached to witness a fight already thickly underway. Hekate attempted to sit at the edge of that gathering so that she might blend in as the least interesting facet of that crowd. Her lips pursed in a subtle frown, mind turning over any desired outcome.

"In the depths of turmoil, by battle's somber dance, let the cove's destiny be etched in blood and chance, as the shadows conceal the true ruler's advance."

Her words were a steady hush, hardly audible to anyone who was not paying express attention. She tried to slow her breathing just as that larger, older cleric had instructed, willing fate to have its way with those tumbling lions through watchful clover eyes.
