The call for a hunt sounds out terribly close by the stump where Hadiya had been busying herself, prying a harvest of autumnal mushrooms out from the ragged grooves of the rotting bark. She pauses in her tedious work of separating the soft stalks from the rusty caps that she cannot see, placing the dismembered 'herbs' out to dry in the rare patch of sunlight she'd so luckily found.

The idea of venturing over to watch over her pridemate's work does seem like a mildly more interesting task...and yet her face pinches with a hint of trepidation regardless, the scent of her crushed herbs left behind in the wake of an elephant's stomping feet still impressed upon her memory from last time.

Wordlessly, she feels around for a safe crevice at the base of the ancient stump, sweeping her gathered mushrooms into the narrow space before turning her paws towards the gathering scents of her pridemates.

A prayer for good fortune is already resting upon her tongue when she emerges from the thorny underbrush, though the task of parcing out who is who distracts her momentarily. "Oh, hello again." She greets @Livyatan with a peaceful smile, once the colossal man's scent happened to ring a bell in her memory.

She'd suggested that they would cross paths again, hadn't she? They were pridemates, after all.

And she was a true prophetess, indeed.

Many came to the call, but not nearly enough as she'd expected. Some seemed familiar, and she knew that half of the pride was more than likely related to her vessel. Some, even, to her previous body. To Erna. Most notable, of course, was the sauntering shape of Bruno who came with commands. She eyed the boy - her son - with a strange measuring gaze. Half of her wanted to dig into him and steal the skin wrapping around his bone. It was hers, and yet it was not. How was it possible for a man to look more like her old body than she did? The other half was mystified by how much he'd grown. How much he'd changed.

Regardless, she purposefully distracted herself. There was a hunt to tend to, and with all plans set in motion, they stalked onward and after the gemsbok. With the hunt complete, she didn't even eat but left as quick as possible. She had no desire to linger around her likeness.

Though most the small golden and grey patterned lioness was unfamiliar with, some she did in fact recognize. But that was not what her attention was on. Her shoulders rolled under her fur, claws digging into the ground. She was ready. And when the target had been found, she moved gracefully, swiftly, to flank it, circling to bring the Gemsbock into a direction where it would be slain by their combined forces.

And how easily it fell. Sure, with more lions they'd have found something even bigger, even stronger. But this would be enough to feed them and fill the cache for a little while. Once it was all settled, she merely took a tiny piece for herself before stalking off.

No acknowledgement came from his sister, but he’d hardly expected it. It was well enough for him that she didn’t turn a disdainful look in his direction, and he forgot about it entirely when the hunt became underway in earnest. He followed the lead of those more skilled, more experienced, and did as they did, until under their combined efforts the gemsbok they cornered fell.

Emory felt accomplished by the end of it, and tired enough that he thought he would sleep well once he reached his bedding. He wasn’t all that hungry, so he grabbed what he could and left with it, intending to drop it off at one of the pack’s food caches for someone else to eat later before washing himself of the scent brought upon him by the hunt and retiring for the day.

It all unfolds smoothly enough.

The gemsbok isn't the grandest prize she's ever felled, but it's nothing to sneeze at either. There may even be enough left over to store away in the caches, once it's all said and done. And it does not take long in the end, the beast brought to its knees right when Myra felt the hunt was truly beginning, the thrill of it humming in her blood.

But it would be foolish to complain about how well the Mire worked together.

She unclamped her jaws from the thick throat of the fallen gemsbok, swiping away the smear of red staining her lips with a flick of her tongue. Her reptilian eyes would find @Lucian's when the dust settled, her lips twitching with a knowing smirk when she nods towards him. He was adapting, just as she once had.

Energy still simmers through her veins, and Myra would move to tear away a meal from the carcass, settling down in a quieter spot to bring herself to calm while she ate. There was plenty enough time to store the rest away after.

Hadiya thinks she served her pridemates quite well here, in a more physical sense this time around. So maybe her blocking of one of the gemsbok's escape routes was more of a coincidence than it was an act of strategy, but the end result was the same nevertheless, was it not?

What was the game of chance, if not a method by which the paw of fate could reveal itself.

They have earned the gift of this meal, and Hadiya would take a quiet moment to honor the creature's passing, before departing with a decent portion of the meat in tow, a quiet farewell sitting upon her lips.

She would return to her original work with a full stomach, tracing her path slowly back to that ragged tree stump to feel around for the mushrooms she had stored beneath it, dragging them back out beneath the sun to finish drying properly. Hmm, was she missing any of them?

It wouldn't work to pluck down a few extra just in case, and the seeress would busy herself a little longer with doing just that.

He likes these pride hunts.

It's a good way to see his pridemates, to get used to their faces and scents. Some are unfamiliar to him but others are ones he's met before. @Myra specifically, and he gives her a small nod of acknowledgement. The others tgough are noted too, as are the path they take through the mire. Learning, ever learning. Their target ( and prize ) is nothing major nor terribly worthwhile but a full plate is always worth the time and effort. There might not be much leftover for the cache but that's just fine. He's happy to have been here, happy to help. And when it's all done, he seeks to take his leave -- twining and turning through the innermost borders. Happy too to keep learning this too.

With those gathered around him Livyatan was confident in their skill to bring down their target. A large gemsbok would feed hungry mouths, and after a bit of a chase the ebony/ivory mixed lion would release his hold on the gemsbok back leg. It had snapped under his jaws disabling it instantly, it could keep trying to run but death was inevitable. Once those had had their fill he would tear a good sized chunk to bring back to a nearby cache, to replenish what was being devoured. And with his task complete he would disappear into the dark undercover of the Mire to return to his own den, where he could rest and relax from the spent energy he had used.

He takes not of those that gather after he arrived, watching as some of them try to dictate and give direction on how this hunt should work. A soft eyeroll is given as Vulferam begins to smear fallen leaves onto the mud that covered his fur; it was another way to both conceal his scent and appearance in one go. After he'd shoved enough leaves into the mud his attention is stolen by the gemsbok as it pushes into view. Tongue rasps across his lips hungrily, and once the cue to start the hunt was given he would do the least amount of work at possible - naturally. He moves around their prey, ensuring that it doesn't escape, and once it is brought down he is swift to dive in. Hungry jaws snap at the gemsbok, biting off more than his fair share before turning and slinking away to his den. He'd eat first and then clean off all this muck from his fur, which he knew would take some time and would more than likely work up another appetite.
