New mouths coming to the Mire meant they would need to really up their stock of food in the caches, especially if any of those mouths belonged to growing cubs. Livyatan was not sure exactly when he became surrounded by so many cubs and teens, but it did not matter to him. He was helping Alaric thus helping the pride. Though he did make a mental note to go do some sparring at some point later, it had been ages since had really got a good work out in. With dawn starting to peek over the horizon Livyatan scented out a trail of prey that led to a watering source in the Mire. Cautiously he would move out of range of sight and smell of whatever the creature was while he called for the rest of the pride. It did not hurt to have back up in case whatever they hunted happened to be huge.

Prey seldom ventured within, preferring to stick to the broad plains. Except of course for the little vermin. Rabbits, voles, birds, mewling cubs from mothers she didn't care about... unfortunately, cubs probably weren't on the menu although they comprised far too many of the patrons. Not wanting to babysit, she scraped the backs of her paws diligently to leave her passive scent behind her, and also deigned (after finding a clear spot) to wipe her ass. Not that her ass was ever dirty, but, you know, asses had smell and lions had noses, and if she wanted to go undetected she better be fresh from the Mire bidet.

"We should come from that hill," she suggested in a whisper, deciding that as she had already taken up the burden of disguising her scent that she was clearly the competent one who should be giving orders. She should always be giving orders, come to think of it. "Catch them in the brush on the other side of the pond." She hadn't seen that particular brush heap in a while but it had seemed particularly thorny last time. Guess she'd find out. And blame someone else if she was wrong.

Ugh, not another one. While Vulferam absolutely loved to indulge on the caches in the Mire, every lion knew he wasn't too fond of having to help take down their meals. But today would be a little different, the Prince feeling a bit of a pep in his step. He'd taken the time to roll around in mud to fully coat himself in a thick layer, both concealing scent and the majority of what he looked like. Although his pride members would know it was him, it was for the future for if he needed to sneak off and be unknown. He arrives dirty and somewhat ready to help, crouching low and waiting to see what prey would be on the menu for them all today.

In both death and in life, she haunted the thorny borders of the Mire. Her growing limbs took her down the path of thorns that she'd aided Alaric to set up and upkeep for years now, except half of that time she'd watched them from the in-between.

The call for a hunt caught her attention, and she diligently followed it. Of course, not without first sharpening her claws on a twisted tree trunk. She very nearly knew each and every peculiar tree in this swamp.

She arrived to a few gathered, two of which were men and the other - a woman. A familiar woman. She was a Rike, without question, but besides that, Runa couldn't put a name to the face. Regardless, she enjoyed the anonymity that this... body, gave her. It was refreshing to know everybody, but nobody knows you.

She settled silently in the background. This will serve her a purpose. She wasn't here to help fill the catches.

How good it was to see their Lead Hunter at work. It was a shame that Myra didn't know the brute who currently held that title all too well, but today would offer a fine opportunity to observe how @Livyatan worked, nevertheless.

She stalks her way down shadowy paths to answer the call, sweeping her reptilian gaze judgmentally over the small group that awaited her when she emerged from between the trees, letting out a small huff before moving to take up position near the front of her party.

More would come soon enough. They'd better, considering how important the task of stocking the cache before winter's arrival would be.

@Toblerone's whispered words tweak the ragged edges of Myra's torn ear, her eyes instinctively flitting towards the mentioned hill and brush even though the pink woman hadn't been speaking to her specifically. "You might consider sending a few hunters to wait in ambush on the other side of that brush, in case it's trampled over. Quite a few beasts have thicker hides than ours." Some of the largest prizes were annoyingly thorn-resistant.

And of course, Myra hopes that they're currently stalking down a large prize.

He could not help the way his whiskers twitched with interest at the sound of an early-morning summons from their hunter. Good – at least he was not the only one up at those hours, working his paws ceaselessly to ensure that their stronghold was maintained. Bruno neared with efficient speed by following their scent trails, eventually leading him to a small grouping of familiar Ecrosians. He almost had the hint of a smile.

"Remember, the more you commit to an attack the more damage it will do. No second-guessing once you've struck," he urged in hushed tones, glancing around at those gathered for understanding. The same was true no matter the foe – be it quarry or competitor. With a few last-minute tweaks to their strategy, the chase was on.

Though she hadn't deigned to take part in too many things just yet, the pale patterned lioness decided to emerge from her den at just the right time. What better way to prove that she could do her part, right? Well, aside from war. But there was no war happening around her just yet, even if she believed that with the fire burning inside so many, it was surely to come.

In a graceful trot she made her way towards the gathered group, flattened ears tucked into the dark mess of her mane. Not too familiar with anyone just yet, she joined them with scarcely more than a nod. Fluffy ears perked ever so slightly as she listened intently to what @Bruno ♔ had to say. "Fast and hard, no backing out," she muttered quietly, her gaze wandering, searching for whatever they may find.

Emory sighed when he heard the quiet call beckoning for assistance with a hunt. He had half a mind to ignore it. It was too much a habit of his to stay up all night, enjoying the freedom it meant for him, and come sunrise he was well ready to turn in for some much needed sleep. But he’d made a promise to himself to contribute, and contribute he would. His scent was already smothered—he’d washed it away earlier in the very wee hours of the morning—and he didn’t bother traipsing through his usual shaded paths. He had no need of them at this hour. A wide yawn split his jaws as he approached the group, taking a second to assess who all was there and gathering the advice and suggestions being tossed around. Spotting Runa, he silently strode over in her direction, attempting to catch her eye with a little acknowledging nod of greeting before turning his attention to the pond—and the prey—that everyone was so carefully discussing how to kill.

He did not like hunting in the mire.

Despite his displeasure with the muck and mud, at least it was getting easier to deal with. @Myra had been correct -- he did get used to. He still lacks canine grace but soon enough, he'd get there. Today is as much for practice as it is for filling the cache, and he steps with great care as he joins the others. Pacing along the outskirts of the mire before cutting further in, following the scents of his pridemates. Sharp gaze lingers keenly upon Myra, offering her a small nod, before refocusing his attention. The others were speaking quietly between themselves, clearly eager to get started. Rolling skinny shoulders forward, the scout readies himself -- eager to launch forward and hunt.

Ciara rushed when she heard the chuffs of a hunt, either she was distracted working on her garden or doing something that made her miss the call for a while. And it was that she was really into working on her medic skills, she wanted to become the best at it in the pride..she might didn't have the skills of a fighter but she wanted to compensate it with being able to mend those who needed mending. She was collecting a few herbs in her garden, making sure they were doing fine and to make a count of how many and which plants she had and which she should collect..

Quickly she arrived and took her position amongst her pride mates.
