Any wounded rolls received from this fight are considered healed as of July 29th, 2023, and are logged in the wounded log. Once healed, post in Trade & Dice Updates to have your dice returned to normal.

Please allow the challengers to respond to the fight results first. As per the site rules, if 3 days go by without a post from the challenger(s), they can be skipped. Whichever comes first! Any posts made before this will be removed, unless you are posting to another fight.

The moments between them are agonizingly long but Sunder is not willing to stop, not until her body demands it of her. Her teeth slice into the pliant flesh above @Arkyn's eye and she delights in seeing the blood flow freely from the gash. It doesn't come without a cost; she can hear the subtle snap and soon enough the pain floods through her forearm tenfold. Aggressively she yanks her appendage from him, pushing away from the brute and hobbling backwards, finally granting herself the space she had yearned for. She won. She had protected her home, and she had done it in front of everyone gathered. She had fought a man three times her size and beat him. Her chest swelled with satisfaction and pride but she wouldn't gloat, she wasn't going to. "Leave." She snaps to him, her gaze glacier cold before her eyes would cast outward towards the small crowd that had gathered. "This is my home. I don't care how many of you try to take it from me, you will be met with the same fate as him. Now get the fuck out." She hisses before she moves away from her opponent entirely. Her gaze was simmering, body exhausted as she brings herself to @Kvare. She could only feel the wounds, her back was in tatters, haunches ripped to shreds. Her cheek had already swollen and was threatening to close her right eye from the aftermath. "Make sure they leave our home." She said regarding those who might be lingering. Her gaze instead would then fall upon @Sabran, "Find the children and women, I want everyone accounted for." She instructs clearly before making her way over to @Lagertha and @Galaxia, "Come with me to my den." She says softly, she cast one quick glance to her children knowing they would follow, she didn't want to approach them with everyone watching and single them out. For their protection only. "Make sure the children come too Gertha, I don't want the crowd to know their identities." She says for only her and Galaxia to hear. The woman wouldn't manage to make it to her den however, her legs would wobble beneath her and sure enough, she was slumping down into the sand alongside them. She was spent, every bit of energy left on the battlefield and ensuring the safety of her home and pride. Her eyes roll back, and she lets out a soft sigh of air before the sweet relief of unconsciousness takes hold. exit via unconsciousness, feel free to powerplay moving Sunder to her den etc.!

Now if there was one thing all should know about Arkyn, it should be that his failures never dampened his ambition. He had lost before and he knew he'd lose more in the future, and this loss was nothing more than a stepping stone. It was something that helped him learn how this current leader moved and fought, it was intel he would tuck away in his mind until the next time came when he challenged - because there would be a next time. Yellow eyes narrow on @Sunder while she speaks, lips rasping across his tongue to wipe away his opponent's blood, the taste something bold and metallic. "Your reign won't last forever." He speaks lowly for only Sunder to hear before he watches her collapse to the ground.

And all he can think of is weak. To win a challenge only to faint in front of your peers. A 'tsk' comes from tongue clicking the top of his mouth, a roll of the eyes given. He wouldn't stay long enough to watch the woman be carried away, instead searching the crowd with a brief glance to see if he saw her. @Csitri. He spots the patchwork woman and he makes his way toward her, letting out a low growl before taking his leave.

The affair was kept small, but there was an aching and anticipating silence that fell over all of them. With bated breath did the lions of Caladan watch as the battle waged onward, each side toppling the other time and again, their fate completely undecided until that final moment, that last piercing blow. Kvare immediately got to his paws just as the two opponents parted, barely capable of keeping himself fettered in place as @Sunder staggered backward. And in those lasting moments it was difficult to see who had truly won, but the Queen held onto her throne, and Kvare let loose the breath he hadn't known he'd been holding.

His only regret was not fighting in her place, not taking the wounds she now bore.

But Gods, he couldn't have been more proud of her.

As she stumbles over to him, Kvare quickly races to meet her. Make sure they leave our home, she commands, and the Tollaire nods. Thankfully, the challenger did not put up much more of a fight, and despite his whispered threats that Kvare couldn't quite hear from this distance, the man turned to leave. And though he appeared haggard and worse off than the Queen, the brute had no doubt he would return; and when he did, they would undoubtedly need to be stronger. Once he was assured Arkyn had left, Sunder had meandered her way toward @Sabran, @Lagertha and @Galaxia. Kvare hastily made his way over toward them, too; and just as he had, the Caladan Queen swiftly fell. The King arrived just in time to capture her limp body against his shoulder, his wide- and wild-eyed gaze quickly seeking the three women before them. I'll carry her there, he says, before shifting, hoisting his smaller wife upon his back. Careful was he despite his urgency, desperate to not agitate her wounds, before he turned and began to meander toward their den, hopeful that their pridemates would follow.

As the battle waged, it was hard even for her to tell who would come out on top, but she, of course, rooted for the newly crowned Queen. Though she didn’t know Sunder well, she could tell how much the woman had been through in just a short period of time recently and hated the idea of her losing the Cove to top it all off. In the end, though, she was successful and another massive upheaval in their lives had been avoided. At least for now. Sabran would have been content to remain there, staring down all the spectators as they made their way out, but her attention swiftly shifted to @Sunder as she approached. It seemed the lead fighter had a more direct task at hand, and she wouldn’t hesitate to see it done. “It will be done, my Queen.” She said with a bow of her head, her tone a touch more formal than it normally would be. In the wake of her victory, though, it felt well deserved to show her that extra bit of decorum. To let it be known that there was no doubt in Sabran that she was the rightful ruler. She waited only a moment, until Sunder was in Kvare’s care, before she turned and swiftly made off to go and check in on everyone that hadn’t been present at the challenge. -Exit-

If the older lioness allowed, Lagertha would very softly nudge her nose against her cheek. "Everything will fall into place and anyone who dares to take our home will suffer." It was all she could say before their Queen emerged victorious. Lagertha's tail lashed behind her as she stood, ears pinned back. Though she'd not heard the words spoken by the challenger, her fur stood on end all the same, as it had done since the call had sounded. Only her ears responded to @Sunder at first by flicking towards her, her emerald gaze sweeping the area. "Of course." Another gentle nudge was given to @Galaxia before she watched @Kvare closely, eyes narrowing when he hoisted her friend onto his back.

Once she was taken care of and safely on the male's back, the pale lioness turned to follow the familiar scents of @Keelia and @"Bébhinn". She couldn't help but shake her head a little at the curiosity of the little ones, but once she found them, she lowered herself a little, speaking quietly to only the cubs. "Come on...it's time to head back to the den." Standing up straight again, she snarled at any stranger still lingering before gently ushering the cubs back to the den.

Well, color him surprised.

Rainer hadn't thought that the dark-masked woman with the delicately folded ears would fare quite so well against a beast of that size. Technically, he's not so wrong - she crumples into the sand not long after, which wasn't a great look, but she'd at least managed to hold off on the dramatics for long enough to have come out the victor. She's promptly gathered up by her gaggle of (presumably) fretting followers, and her striped challenger departs in low spirits.

Rainer watches from his perch for a little while longer, his lips quirking with amusement though his interest was quickly waning now that the action was over. This pride wouldn't be suffering any dramatic changes today, clearly. That was that.

Yet the Rike wonders about it anyway, even as he turns away with a huff to scale his way back down the cliffs and into unclaimed lands. Caladan had not ruled by a woman, last he recalled. Seemed that that was just yet another one of the things that had changed while he'd been healing.

Perhaps he should consider putting some effort into tracking Valaine down as well.

The fight is quick and brutal, and Marja hollers intensely as she watches- praying to her almighty Gromm for the failure of the male. He cannot take her home from her! She has lost so much, since being in this land. She hollers out again, her curse loud and proud. "proklanyte etogo nezvanogo gostya!" Curse the intruder

Marja's chants and loud prayers do not cease until Gromm speaks and the Queen reigns victorious. She yowls in praise and happiness, spitting and hissing in the direction of the would be usurper. "GET OUT! GET OUT!" She snarls, happy to snarl and threaten. No, no, no- he would not be taking her home today. She would not be homeless. Gromm would not allow. Gromm had provided for her.

With grace and power, it was clear to her that the woman that was holding the Cove had a lot more physical prowess in keeping her crown under her claws. She took no time to in continuing to secure her home and Juliette found strength in her resolve. A brimming pride in her own hands to see a lioness come out on top. As the continuing crown expressed an adamant desire for everyone to get out, Juliette made sure to stay still for a few moments longer. The sand here was great to cover her up almost entirely and so she knew that she could stay camouflaged. Even so, she slunk close to the ground and kept her distance from any of the other retreating lions. Occasionally flinging some sand up on her body to cover up the dark stripes so as not to give away the one item on her person that wasn't sand-colored. Until eventually she made the escape. exit juliette

The male tries to snap his teeth at the lioness' extended limb and Daneri waits with baited breath, hoping that she wrangles free and away. She isn't quick enough and sustains the bite and the young spectator feels the steady thrum of her own heart wanting to jump in to help her. Yet, even with her limited knowledge of pride challenges or how a pride works at all -- she knows not to interfere. This is her fight and as she remains victorious, it is clear that she wouldn't need any help anyways.

With a shake of her head she begins moving along the borders, scouting its vicinity with innocence and naivety in her repertoire, gazing longingly out into the rocky cliffside of the Cove and wondering how scary the plummet into the ocean might be. Surely it was not as safe as the dive might be and she presumed there must be rocks at the bottom that wouldn't give her a clean trick dive. Perhaps one day she would be able to be close enough to look but it was a bit too far into the territory for her to get away with taking a peak.

For now, she roamed the borders and inspected their scents, it was the woman's plus another's that she had not immediately picked on anyone else being a leader. Not that there was any sure fire way to see that in an open gathering but perhaps it would do her well in the future to know their names. Along with the other prides and their leaders, too. If she was going to learn the land, she should probably know the lions in the lands too. exit daneri
