Prompt: A young pair of addax males are competing to see who can make it to the Bluffs’s highest point the fastest.

Io wasn't far when she saw the pair of ungulates using their pride as play ground. That was an offense, to think prey animals were really doing so right on the lion's home. Didnt they know this was predator lands? Well, Io who had a lot to prove to her pride mates wanted to make them regret this, let her pride see the worth in her past her reduced size. As such the small lioness dropped to the ground using a boulder to hide and waits for them to walk right past her to pounce. Her pride was going to eat well..

Helah does not attend ever hunt, but it is a weird challenge she does take on when she has time. As she heeded the scent of the Addax, following it's trail silently and without a hurry, she neared a place where the two appeared to be competing on who could jump the highest. Helah, luckily, knew the area fairly well and moved to climb up the slope on a more stable trail and she climbed upwards- higher and higher to be a point to block their escape, or perhaps scare them into falling. A fall would be an easy and quick death- and would require no work on the lions part.

1 year, no bonus

At nearly two years old, her legs carried her taller than most. She was huge, and she liked it. Aideen cared little for grace and pretty things. She would be a warrior who would never yield- cause she was gonna be the strongest. She knew, she had been a bit lax on joining hunts and so when she heard the scrapping of hooves, as she meandered about she veered to join in on this hunt. She laughed loudly, her voice brash against the quiet as the pair of Addax seemed to compete and climb higher and higher. "Stupid Addax!" She called, knowing and believing that they would soon be a meal for them. Lazily, she scratched her claws down stone, to sharpen them a bit, as she waited for more to gather.

faustine only knew @Aideen best even though she had never talked to the girl. she was merely prey an interest, a passing entertainment to watch and observe. she ought to be on her best behavior now that her first birthday was edging close. without deliberating about if she should or not, faustine plopped down beside aideen, eager to enjoy the hunt that her other pride members were gathering for. the girl was hungry once more and anyone could tell by the clarity of her red eyes and the drool collecting in the corners of her mouth. in the distance, she heard hooves beating on the ground. this sounded like they belonged to larger prey. 9 months, no bonus

Oleander had mostly been hunting on his own to ensure his wife stayed fed. He had been slacking on providing for the pride though. But with Helah no longer pregnant and the offspring able to move about the large male had to get back to his duties to the pride.

Ole joined the small group that were after a pair of antlered prey. He stood and watched the prey, waiting for whomever would be leading this thing to tell him what to do. It was all women there and so certainly one of them would take up the mantle and get this thing started.

Though there was the thought of a request to be made. "I has hard thing head for cub eat?" The question likely wouldn't make sense to most there as Oleander still faltered when it came to Common Tongue. But Helah was there. She should understand his want of the antlers for their children to be able to sharpen their teeth and claws on.

Helah does not miss the arrival of others, a young spawn of Louve, the yearling who was far too large, and her husband. It is to @Oleander she speaks, a head tilt in consideration. "It would be good." She agreed. She glanced to those gathered. "I'll spook them." She said simply, before proceeding up the trail, moving silently while the pair of beasts fought like fools. Once she made it higher than they were, she crept across the rock silently moving slowly towards them, so that her head could pop over the rock above them- and when she did- she let out a fearsome roar.

The beasts started and scrabbled, before falling- their drop down to the earth- would hopefully do them in. If not, she had faith the others could take the stunned beasts down.

As was expected Helah understood exactly what it was that the large male was trying to convey. She even agreed with the idea that he had. The male didn't often have thoughts of his own but he had seen the tactic done before. The hard bone would be good for keeping their teeth and claws in shape. They would need them to be able to earn their names. Ole was going to do what was needed to put them in the place they needed to be, the earning they had to do on their own though.

Oleander watched his wife climb and then next the beasts fell. The large male was quick to ensure that he captured one of the fallen beasts. He tore into the throat of the antlered animal. He gulped down the mouthful before biting again to get to the spinal column to break it. He didn't know how to get the antlers except to try and snatch the entire head.

It took some doing but eventually the male had his prize and carted it away to the den.

Oleander Exits

Not many came to her aid, only four lions. But since it only two Addax it was fine, they didnt need a multitude to bring it down. So taking a deep breath she lead the hunt, she at the front made sure to attack one allowing the others to help. Helah spook them what made them fall from their perch. Stunned they were made into an easy target, a target for the rest of them to delover the ending blow. Dead she then took the other addax after saying goodbye to the others, to process the meat, and then with all of that done. She left to do other duties.
