the amassed crowd causes her to start. imogen halts behind them, pressing up high on her toes in an attempt to see exactly what it is that has their attention. though, as the direction of the breeze shifts, the scent of prey wafts her way. she had been passing through the gardens, familiarizing herself with the colorful blooms and plants, comparing them to her home. held within her jaws is a clump of roots that she's collected from the garden and imogen gently sets them down to approach to the group. once her quarry is tucked away and tidy, the lioness hovers on the outskirts, ears pressed back against her head as she silently awaits direction.

Jerrik walked over the fields, scouting for anything of use, either water or food. Even a place to rest would be a good thing right now. He made sure to cover his tracks as he went, he did so to avoid being followed. He liked to move like a ghost. Only doing something different when he had the need but for the majority of his life, he went on secretive mode.

But as he went, he found the scent of prey. Prey could be a useful thing to find in this territory. And as such he used the chance when he spotted the group who were going to hunt as well. For that he joined the group.

4 years, no perks

Azhira was known to frequent the gardens in the warmer months. She was constantly looking for fresh flowers to adorn herself and her den. The sun shone down into the fields that morning, and it was still strong through the afternoon. Colorful flowers dotted the fields happily, and if one wanted to, it'd be a nice place to lounge peacefully. Though, with prey on the breeze and quite a big group gathered around her, on the outskirts of the gardens, she couldn't pass up the opportunity for a quick and easy meal - especially with such a large group.

Looking around, studying the flowers poking up from the many patches of wildflowers throughout the garden's fields, Azhira stalked over toward the group, settling down in the tall grasses that surrounded them and blending into the group that'd soon take off after something delicious. Clinging to her fur was the floral scent of the gardens, allowing her to blend in scent-wise just from being in the garden.

He had been passing through, hoping to learn of the changes in these lands. Truthfully, aside from the pride that had recently (but not so recently) taken claim in the Plains, there wasn't much change here. There was still the stink on the breeze from the Mire nearby, and there were still the foreboding Summit mountains in the distance.

Between the sulfuric stench that came from the Mire was the musk of some ungulates hanging around nearby, and this made Hype's stomach growl. Peeking up from the tall shoots of flowers, he could see a large group gathered just at the edge of the gardens, poised and ready to strike something. So, he joined them.

Rustling through the tall shoots that nearby covered his entire body, he found the edge of the group and settled into a crouch. He lifted his nose to the air and tried to pinpoint where the scent was coming from and what it was.

So many colors.

The gardens are peppered with little bursts of color, each flower more exquisite and elegant than the last. He tramples them all indiscriminately, their radiant hues reeling past him at a rapidly increasing velocity.

The gardens have always been a perfect place to run—the lush sprawl of green seeming endless before him. He can feel every muscle in his body being utilized and strengthened as he goes, feeling the brush of a wayward butterfly that failed to notice him in time.

He only slows down when he notices the big assembly of lions, all quiet and seemingly focused on something. He unsheathes his claws, raking them across a proximate tree before placing them back down again, crouching into the high grass.

A lone zebra had wandered its way into the gardens, and with the group of hungry cats waiting nearby, it didn't stand much of a chance of escaping. Azhira had stalked forward, wagging her fat and fluffy tail behind her. When the unsuspecting creature wandered too close and bowed its head to nibble upon the grass, she charged. Forgetting all reservations about staying clean, she realized she might've been hungrier than she thought.

Thankfully, it was someone else that made the kill, but she was just as satisfied with her efforts in helping bring the animal down. Buried beneath the patches of wildflowers, the prey animal's carcass almost looked beautiful. It was a sight with morbid beauty. As its last dying breath escaped its parted lips, they tore into it and exposed bloodied bones to the sky. Azhira took her share and carried it to the edge of the fields to eat it. Once she had finished and cleaned her face, she would collect her flowers and go. /exit

the beautiful blooms of the garden are crushed and trampled as they take down the lone zebra. it brays as life seeps from it, soiling the earth and flowers that were bound to recover in the summer sun. her chest heaves with the effort of chasing down the striped beast and when its flank stills, imogen hovers off to the side. she hardly realized how many of them there were and she glances over her shoulder, back in the direction she had left the bundle of herbs she collected.

deciding to leave the site of prey momentarily, the combat medic follows the pathway of torn and shredded flowers in the garden they had created. the lioness is relieved to find her herbs had been spared from the rest of it and picks up the flora before heading back to what is left. dropping her bundle once more, she takes a few solid, ravenous bites from the carcass. her stomach rumbles satisfactorily and with a swipe of her tongue over her maw, imogen collects her items and trails away from the site of the hunt with a grateful glance to those remaining.

In the end, the quarry that reveals itself to them through the swaying grasses isn't a particularly grand one. But the lone zebra still offers a decent chase, and he treats it as a simple continuation of his earlier run, though the pace he sets now is more urgent with his desire to ensure that he doesn't lose the striped equine behind the other hunters. His muscles flex smoothly beneath his dappled hide, generating a pleasant heat that renders the hint of sprinkling rain all but unnoticeable.

The zebra doesn't last long once the felines finally converge upon it like the ravenous beasts they are. The smell of prey blood curls enticingly into the damp air, but Mircea chooses to depart almost as soon as his part in all of this was fulfilled, leaving the others to divide the relatively small meal between them.

The path he takes back to the Hollows is a more relaxed one, as the Savante allows his muscles to relax from the strain they'd undergone, pausing occasionally to more closely examine some of the more unusual blooms that could be found in this garden.

Amongst the overabundance of colorful blooms, the black and white form of the striped zebra sticks out like a sore thumb. An easy target, but Viveka will take it all the same. The chase takes her mind off of the irritating scent of the flowers clinging to her fur, and when she finally catches up to the beast she thinks of nothing but forcing it to its knees.

Soon, the zebra has new stripes painted in the color red, and the lions have their meal. For her part, the Rike woman would swiftly and possessively tear away a portion of its meat to be eaten somewhere more private, curling her lip at any who dared to lean in too close while she tore open thar striped hide.
