Pride ripples through him as his brother approaches and grants his request. Yes, it was a small leap, but Valens had just met the woman. He wasn't exactly ready to hand her the keys to the kingdom - hence their battle. They had more bonding to do before he was comfortable with that; not to mention he'd just been acclaimed Sovereign. He and Alexander would have much to discuss.

The dark Savante hadn't ever pictured himself here, standing next to his littermate. He'd always kept to the outskirts, watchful and protective. The man was a warrior, always ready to die in the stead of his kin; comfortable leading them to war if necessary. But he had never thought his place might be here - not until now. That place had always seemed better suited for another of their siblings.

Still, Valens revelled in it, full of awe. He was capable, he had made it here. And now, he could journey into something more meaningful. It was equal parts enthralling and terrifying. Nodding deeply to both @Alexander ♔ and @Juliette, he would purr with happiness.

"I also accept, eka. It's the greatest honor." then his eyes would wander to find @Camellia. A tender and grateful smile would pass over his face. He was convinced that it was her faith and prayers for him that had made all the difference. Mouthing a "thank you" to her, he'd turn back to Alex.

"I'll retire to my den for now. We'll talk later, hm?"

The truth was that she truly did want that rank of Hollow Sovereign. A rank that she would have coveted and kept close to her, but she would have also used it to be able to branch out and see what and who were out there. Still uncertain of if her Valour family still even existed in this land and would have used her position of power to put out feelers without letting her position be known. Even if it wasn't Sovereign, Noble was at least a tiny promotion and if anything @Valens' support of it was in good faith and if he and @Alexander ♔ saw her fit to be there then who would she be to punch a gift horse in the mouth? So with a nod to both of them, gratitude in her expression, she bowed her head to them and headed out. While she didn't believe herself to need any immediate healing, Valens was onto something about "rest". exit juliette

Somehow, miraculously, he had won! She certainly no doubt had him there in the beginning. Yet he still found himself on top. Good game, good game. He soothed with a grin as he helped her to her feet. If it were up to me you'd have the second slot. You fight really well.

His attention moved back to the reason they were all here. The fights moved slowly but eventually it was Valens that stood above the rest. Hadyn hollered a congratulations to the big grey sexy lug before deciding he was now rather tired. Think Imma call it. He muttered. Time to find himself a den and then clean up these new sores.

A moment of distraction, that was all it took. Fool. What a damned fool you are. The shadow mentally chastised herself, her opponents words nothing more than a mutter to her ears, as if only reaching her from too far away. "You haven't seen half of it," she snarled at @"Hadyn" before his offered help to get up was met with a swipe of sharp claws threatening to smack his face.

But aside from that she didn't grant him any other response. Instead she simply stalked off towards @Zsolt, circling him as she allowed her side to brush against his. Sapphire gaze lingered on those who had fought for something more, yet she didn't stick around to give congratulations. With low growls still vibrating through her entire being she turned her back on the gathering, stalking off to slip into the shadows, present, watching.

The fights began and Celestia watched intently, anticipating who the victors of each respective fight would be. She could not help but feel yearning stir beneath her own claws. Of course, the woman wanted more, but presently her main concern was being a mother to the four youngest, to guiding them as they continued to grow and ensuring their safety. That didn't mean that she didn't contemplate what she would want for herself in time. As the fights begin to wind down, she would rise from her seated position, moving to weave her way back through the caverns. The ranks had been handed out, another successful day for her husband. Now hopefully the appointed individuals would be able to help the Hollows more thoroughly.

Can't tell! he said loudly to @Angelo as his father asked him what trouble he had found himself in lately. He couldn't just out himself like that, he had to be smart! Alas, the only trouble that he had found lately was doing absolutely nothing when he surely should have been doing something. But, he wanted them to think that he wasn't completely useless! With @Camellia's arrival he leaned into her touch and practically fell over, yearning for that small semblance of affection and love radiating out of that one singular kiss. That's it?! his brain seemed to ask after her but it wasn't. She moved to dip a toe into some strange stuff and placed on the bridge of his nose and his eyes quickly went cross-eyed to see but it only looked really blurry.

From there, it really was just a bunch of fighting that went on but he went relatively silent beside his parents. The look on his face quite the "ooh, ahh" version for a kid as he watched each fight like it was candy on the other side of a large pane of glass. Eventually it was over and someone was given something from what he understood but when it was over, Cosmin's attention changed and followed the stream of lions out. Not entirely sure what had been going on but he knew that fighting was involved and that was enough for him! exit cosmin

There were so many delightful fights for him to watch, and he was pleased that he had chosen to come and do so instead of lounging about in his den. It was much more fun to lounge around out here and be entertained, he thought. He watched Syanna and Hadyn fight over who would be Baron, amused by Syanna's seemingly spitfire personality. And, of course, the main event he couldn't keep his eyes off of. He knew the striped lioness well enough from hunts, so he thought he wouldn't be disappointed if she won instead of a family member. But, Valens managed to pull it through, and secured the title of Sovereign. Good for him, Angelo thought. He just hoped everything went well from here on out.

A low rumble of a chuckle left him, like boulders falling down a mountain. Na, he replied. No. Of course not. He would never doubt their beloved flame-keeper. But her thoughts on the strength of the flame mirrored his own.

He could have sat and watched it the entire time, but there were fights to be had, and Dmitri was interested in watching those as well. The fight over barony between the two unknown (to him) lions was only mildly interesting, but when the fight over who would be sovereign began he was torn. He had come to know Juliette well since she had arrived, but he was unwilling to not root for a Savante to hold the title either. It was a difficult position for him to be in.

So, naturally, he was both disappointed and delighted at the same time when Valens won the match, in an odd combination of feelings. At least Juliette didn't walk away completely empty-pawed, he thought.

And then it was over, the ranks filled and everything taken care of. At least it had been done amicably enough, he thought.

Camellia watched from the sidelines, her countenance serene as the battles ensued. And in the end, it was her brother Valens who came out on top. Camellia smiled demurely, unable to fully contain her pleasure at this development. If given the choice, Camellia would have decided this outcome and she was pleased to see Valens named Sovereign. When the time came, she would step forward to face the victor. One paw was dipped into a mixture of earth and hot ash mixed with the blood of all the challengers. She lifted it to Valens' forehead as she sang out.

Smearing the ritual mixture across his fur marked Valens and blessed his victory. She would repeat the song in common tongue for the others to understand, though it didn't quite flow as well as it did the first time it was sung.

Long and hard the battle had been fought.
Only by blood will victory be bought. ♪ ♫

Having granted her blessing, Camellia withdrew as the crowd began to filter out. She would gather her things and slip away into the shadows.
